    ♥ Hey guys! I have been loving using henna to dye my hair naturally at home! I used to dye my hair all the time and my hair was so damaged so this is my alternative to the few new grey hairs that I am seeing *sad face*. You can purchase henna at your local indian store or from amazon (linked below). Please do your research as Henna gives a very different color to hair depending on natural hair color (for example if you have blonde hair, your hair will become very orange) but if your hair is dark like mine, your results should be very similar to mine. I hope you found this video helpful!

    For best results of henna, do not shampoo when you wash it off. Wash the henna off completely with water, and once your hair is almost dry do a hot oil treatment and let the oil sit overnight. The oil will seal in the color much better! Also adding some kind of acid like lemon juice brings out more color of the henna.

    I like mixing my henna paste, then freezing it. Ice crystals in the water make the ground plant (henna) burst, so you get a very reliable dye release. I'd say it has made the deep red henna color twice as intense. Thaw it out, and apply it to hair. I make it in batches in smaller containers, so I always have an application ready. It will stay good in the freezer for a year.,

      Does the mixture sit outside the freezer 4-6 hours first and then is freezed after? Or do you just add the water to the hennapowder and "off you go in the freezer"?🤔

    • @ahamilton3435
      @ahamilton3435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gargimajumder1951 basically it bonds to the cuticles of your hair and strengthens your hair a lot. So i suggest to put a deep conditioner afterwards. Henna at first for some can feel rough, so i suggest next time do this girls recipe, add milk etc. But for now, put a deep conditioner or just a conditioner and leave it on for like 30 mins. If you want deep moisture put a bag on your head, tie with a band to keep the heat and moisture circulating then rinse. Once you rince conditioner out dry with a towel and then judt rub a little oil through your hair🤗

    I'm using henna for 5+ years now. I mix some amla powder with Henna. Amla is acidic, it brings out more color, and it is very conditioning too. Lemon juice/ ACV seems a bit harsh for my hair as my hair gets really dry afterwords. I buy same brand of Henna as given in this video description link as it is 100% pure henna, for amla i purchase organic food quality Alma powder. If you have lighter color hair or more grey hair, try mixing Indigo powder. This is also 100% natural. And depending upon henna:indigo ratio you will get various shades of red. Its really wonderful.

    I always use organic henna, I'm in my 60's now so my hair is a mix of brown and grey but red henna evens out the greys and gives a gorgeous all over chesnut colour...which deepens to deep red over time if you don't wash your hair over the next few days. I use cold water and use it straightaway,and don't leave it on any more than 2 hours....it's such an amazingly long lasting hair strengthener that I never use conditioner!

    Why mixing henna with milk? Henna dyes the hair thanks to combining with the protein in our hair's structure. Milk contains much protein too - and because of that some part of the dye combine with it instead of combining with hair protein :)

    I recently cut off all my hair and shaved my head. 😲😃 After dyeing my hair blond for 25 years I forgot forgot my natural dark brown color. Lol Anyway, The reason for all this was to be free of chemical dyes and never ending bleaching cycle. I honestly felt liberating to get rid of the damaging coloring. Now almost 2 months later my hair are growing beautifully and healthy. I noticed few gray hair here and there ,I'm 48. I eally love your video and will eventually use this natural combination. Thank you so much for your help.

    Your hair was beautiful before, and gorgeous after! I do love the super-shine you achieved with the henna. I also use henna to cover grays. My hair texture is a lot different than yours (mine is more thin and dry, not as lush as yours is naturally.) Still I can see that henna can be a boon for a variety of hair types. I have a lot more gray than you and henna works nicely to camouflage it. I made a video about henna'ing my hair too! I just found yours today. Shine on! 🙏🏽

      Just add few drops of oil to the henna you are about to apply. Might help. There is so many ways to deal with dry hair. Just avoid proteins in your hair cosmetics. They tend to dry hair out. A bit drier hair is still worth henna. No harmful chemicals, no animals testing ( less suffering experienced by others just so you can paint your hair with your desired, perfect shape), no disgusting suffocating smells that you get while using hair coloring, i remember having often tears in my eyes from the horrible chemicals in my hair dye.
      And even staining is lesser. Honestly stains from shop bought hair dye never ever disappeared while stains from henna never stayed. Very easy washable.
      With henna the end result is always a mystery 🙃
      but actually so is when using hair😊😮 dye.
      Well at least we have a guarantee that we did less damage while using a 100% natural ingredients.

      Just a little TMI: if you use indigo with henna on previously lightened hair and you for some crazy reason after using dark henna come to the conclusion that you want lighter ends back. Know that there's no way to do that. I have tried and the best result I got was very light ash blue that when covered with any other color from the colorwheel just turned dark.
      Now I am back using henna with a hint of indigo and I am waiting for my now almost black ends to be cut of so I don't have reverse ombre on my locks anymore.

    hi! I dyed my hair with henna and let it sit for around 20 hours. (yes I was bored and at home that weekend). I have very dark and curly hair. well, I loved the results and I still do BUT every time I shower, my henna washes off and the rinsed water is yellow. each and every time. I don't have a problem with the fact that the color washes fast off my hair my actual problem is that I want to go swimming, etc. when I shower after the gym, I don't want the water to be yellow. I'm not showering alone, sometimes there are other people too. why is that? what should I try next time? or will it wash off always? doesn't it get washed off on your hair? thank you :)

    I’m a licensed cosmetologist for 19 years. Be careful. Read the directions first and know that if the Henna has metallic compounds you can’t mix it with ammonia dyes you could end up with green hair and I have heard stories of people trying to cover henna with hair dye and it smolders. I also know it is very hard to remove might as well let it grow out and start fresh. Henna is beautiful when done correctly and yes it comes in many colors.

    Hate to sound dumb, but when you say "store it", do you put in the fridge or just leave it outside for the night?

    • @selenianmaya2824
      @selenianmaya2824 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No definitely not in the fridge. Outside in the kitchen is fine. Because storing is the important part of the entire process, henna fermenting overnight to get that silky look and actually working. Otherwise, it will dry out completely. No fermentation basically. And the colour won't be vivid.
      Sometimes the jar I store it in feels warm the next day. That's why you should never put it inside the fridge. Hope that helped. :)

    • @nabanitasen
      @nabanitasen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It needs to be in some warm place. I put it in my microoven/oven (off) overnight. If the place you leave is naturally warm, just keep it in kitchen top. Just make sure lid is tightly closed.

    • @jessicah3450
      @jessicah3450 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can if you used high quality henna. Some henna powders are contaminated with metals, since it is a natural product (sources can be if car exhaust gets on the field, rain runoff, different types of sand and soil, etc). As you know, regular oxidative hair dye like what salons use and drug stores sell can't be mixed with metal. But good quality hennas will not have metal contamination in them. I look for henna powders that say they are body art quality, they tend to be more pure. If you go back to oxidative dyes, be sure to do a strand test, in case the henna was contaminated, also it may make the dye a different color. I've gone back and forth, oxidative dye does process faster. My hair turns darker with the henna present, but nothing catastrophic has happened. I still highly recommend doing a strand test or two.

      You seem to know quite a bit about this.
      I tried it for the first time last night and yes, my hair is very dry (I used lemon juice). I'll try the whole milk next time. But doesn't the acid from the lemon help bring out the dye? My hair is a dark blond, light brown, and I like the auburn red that I have now.

    @arshias Makeup:
    I'm planning on using this method but want to go for a medium brown/burgundy color.
    - What two henna colors would work best? Im thinking a chocolate/burgundy combo.
    -I've seen some mix the henna with lemon, ACV, or yogurt.
    -some wash their hair before applying but you didnt. is there a reason?
    -i've seen different timelines to leave it in from 45 min to 3 hrs. is there a difference
    -how often do you have to touch up the henna 4 wks maybe 6 wks
    -when selecting a brand, what should I look for?
    Thanks a lot. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    From what I've seen, you want the henna to be very warm when you apply it to your hair. So when you store it overnight I'm assuming you put it in the fridge. Do you apply it cold or somehow heat it up first?

    • @selenianmaya2824
      @selenianmaya2824 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No never put it in the fridge!
      The formula won't be silky. It will dry out completely. You'll interrupt the fermentation process.

    • @Springview2011

      She has natural black hair and no gray at all, so the orange colour isn't extremely visible after the henna treatment.
      If you want to get the dark/black colour you have to follow two steps.
      First, do the whole routine with henna: apply, leave it in for an hour or longer, rinse.
      Second step, apply indigo powder (or indigo with some henna) on your hair. You can do this the next day..
