Thanx for a job well done, bringing back memories. Went 'spud bashing' from Main St farm. Used to get selected - if lucky, then climb on a trailer attached to a tractor and taken out to the fields. Was a scout in the local scout group and was paid to sing at weddings in the church next door. The scout hut also doubled as the Blue Beat Disco when I was a little older. Had some great times in Wickersly/Bramley/Sunnyside whilst growing up. BUT loved 'The Great Danes' - Listerdale Wood!! Much bigger and better than Wickersly and Silverwood. Cheers, Y'All.
Just watched your video, glad you mentioned George William Chafer, someone who I met when I was very young as he lodged with my grandparents for approx 40 years.
Loved watching this I live in Bramley and was good to see the history . I do believe there used to be a large house on where Morrisons now stands maybe that can be added in part 2. I believe the Travellers is only temporary closed. Thanks look forward to Part 2
Thanks for the info! No idea if there was a house there but I would not bet against it that's for sure, with all the old houses around. Yeah the Travellers is only closed temporarily.
According to their Facebook page the Travellers has not closed down. The boards are just a security measure during the Covid 19 closure. Apparently other businesses in the area have been broken in to during the lockdown :(
@@TheVillageIdiot I only found out as I have a site where we show the old images of Rotherham with their modern version and thought I best get a pic before it's turned in to a Tesco Express :(

Yeah I must admit even though I see it every day I had no idea it was just security. You see boards up and you think...oh. Another pub gone
