I'm not going to argue with you. He is a genius and history will prove that. Whether you think so or not.

McCartney is without question a musical genius and his prolific body of songwriting work spanning 60+yrs. speaks for itself. Feeling very fortunate to be living in the same time period as him and have enjoyed his music for many years and will continue to.....

Paul came up with them quick. Not one of his best songs, but shows how he can just pull a song out of thin air! Dustin should get partial credit on this one: a McCartney/Hoffman song!

Love both the song and the reason for its existence.

No one ever set off to "prove" anything. Whether he is, or isn't, he's vastly talented in terms of writing music, which requires a great brain. From that, it's not hard to see he's likely a musical genius. That said, people with no music skills, never tried to write music will not understand this. Try to write a #1 hit song, or any song. You likely can't. Therefore he can out think you in that realm. It's nothing to do with popularity, except that his popularity stems from his great songs

I love this story, because it illustrates how the creative process works! Creative people like McCartney don’t “know” how they do it, they just do it, it just comes out! And I’m sure that’s the same with all creatively talented songwriters…the building blocks are already in their brains somewhere, and it only takes a spark of inspiration to pull them all together!

Its difficult for me to believe that Paul McCartney is a real person sometimes, he CANT be walking this planet.... to me, in my life, he's just always been, its not possible to see him in person. A real person couldn't have done what he's done or created what hes created. Maybe its from only seeing pictures and videos of him since I was like 2, paired with music thats so incredible and timeless its hard to believe a person created it all. Whatever the reason is, Ive always thought of him the way one would a character in a book or movie, rather than as a real person. Its like when I met Lawrence Taylor, super nice guy, asked me to sit down and bullshit with him.... and it wasnt until after I left him that night, I realized that before we met, I thought of LT the way one would a super hero. I only saw him on TV doing what no other human could do, or on cards, posters or whatever, he wasn't a real person I could meet... he was a character I watched and read about, he was Superman or Iron Man..... Its such a weird thing, I CANT be the only person who has a brain that thinks about somebody like Paul in this way.... am I?

Further proof that PauI doesn't write his own songs; he just, in his words, "pIucks them out of the air." It's Iike they've aIways existed in some PIatonic reaIm and the muse is giving him access to them. PIato once said that the best of our poets do not understand their own verses. If that's not an argument for channeIing I don't know what is.

Paul should have answered Dustin about songwriting with a Picasso-quote:"Idont search.I find." :-)

"Pop music, even "classic" pop music, is something dashed off in a few minutes.",OMG, funny. You make it sound sooo easy. Perhaps someone as bright as you can "dash" us off a #1 hit tune in a few minute. Tell you what. I'll give you a month, even the rest of your life. It's not going to happen because you don't have those skills. Culture didn't decide he was a great song writer because he was popular. Instead he got popular by being a great song writer, 1/2 wit. Nice delusions of yours

It’s not a great song on his scale so that’s why it just came out like a fart
