Why the hell couldn't they have incorporated the old twin towers into the design?? They were so iconic. This new stadium is just another run-of-the-mill, sausage factory design. Cup Finals have never been the same, nor will they ever be.
to be honest the first thing that foster said about that you are much closer to the action because of the steepness couldn't be more untrue. it's actually very flat compared to other stadiums like the bernabeu or the allianz arena.
totally agree with you. The new wembley has no character, no atmosphere. It's just a bigger version of a premiership ground. Why the hell did they not try to blend in the old towers and make it actually look like a National Stadium. A big mistake.
So excited about the Champions League final. Even if no English teams make it to the final (which I doubt) it'll still be a cool thing for us in the UK to watch.
I'm looking forward to the 2011 champions league final already. Will be special, especially for continental teams to be given the chance to play at Wembley.
Well, the new Arsenal stadium is very nice, as well. I'm not sure what you were expecting. All stadiums are a bit alike, in a way. However, this is no da Luz. I've been to da Luz during Euro 2004. Very nice stadium, but to compare it to this one you've got to be either blind or not too sharp.
Cowboys Stadium is incredible and looks very cool but it doesn't surpass Wembley architecturally. The way the entire structure of Wembley is supported by a single 68° arch is special, as it holds up the roof AND the stands, balanced. By contrast the arches of Cowboys Stadium only support the roof and TV, in essence it's a regular college bowl with an umbrella on top. Camp Nou is due to get a roof in the future, also. It'll be spectacular but a superficial structure sat on 1950s concrete stands.
Mission impossible: Bad guy organization will implant a nuclear device in the Wembley Stadium, before the Manchester United x Arsenal race. Queen will attend. Agent Ethan Hunt has to save her.
certainly empty despite the number of people it holds. I find it painful to see its lack of character. Do think since so many people are unhappy with it, do you think a campaign could start to get it transformed into something like it was ?
honestly, the arch is just a fucking waste of time and money. if you were going to make an arch, you should of made it like the arch in durban, with cable cars running fo rgreat view, and some profit.
Norman foster and Richard Rogers are inspirations for me, very grateful to have worked with them
A great stadium, in my opinion. Very good to watch England and Tottenham alike. My favourite ground in England.
6:04 Arguably the most expensive stadium in the world...In a high priced restaurant...and they're watching Scooby Doo...

absolutely right ! I don't know why they call it Wembley. Wembley is dead

"A waste of time and money"? Without the arch there would be no roof you turnip. It's architectural but also a key structural element of the stadium
totally agree with you. The new wembley has no character, no atmosphere. It's just a bigger version of a premiership ground. Why the hell did they not try to blend in the old towers and make it actually look like a National Stadium.
A big mistake.
"Everyone was committed to a challenge"...I like that...:)
its 2014 Sunderland are in the Capital One Cup Final and i really cant wait to sing my heart out for the lads!!! Ha'way Sunderland!!!

Excellent stadium! One of - if not - the best in the world.
2600 toilets but there’s always a que to use them 😂
Yea cos 90 000 people can fit in there. That’s like 35 people per toilet.
i went to the old one for a tour.. that was amazing then so im guessin this one is brilliant
Norm Foster unsung legend

Wembley's a beautiful place even without.a crowd even the inside quality just like the outside

One of the best grounds in the world

1 billion pounds. Great architect building something he is really proud of...yet the players still go out of view on their way up to the winners bit.
its a state of the art
how does the roof close? :S
@blaugranelona what, new camp nou?
Mission impossilbe 5: Bad guys put a device inside the stadium before the match between Manchester United x Arsenal
tres beau stade conçu par l'un des plus grands architecte au monde

@chinsup i really enjoy the stadium, but stamford bridge just looks so good
And now Wembley Way has been replaced by stairs...
ARSENAL FOR THE WIN HERE may 28th!

@tag1989 he's talking about the art deco towers of the old wembley stadium. they were always known as the twin towers.
@mabuskiller how is it better? its made for american football lol.
certainly empty despite the number of people it holds. I find it painful to see its lack of character. Do think since so many people are unhappy with it, do you think a campaign could start to get it transformed into something like it was ?
Wembley has only been there for 14 years. People will recognise its character over time
“To satisfy the monstrous ego of some architect, we’ll end up with some crap stadium like everywhere else.”
Roger Taylor
Bears vs Bucaneers Sunday
millions i imagine
i feel sorry for the window cleaner....
For the money they spent on it... it better be!
I wish they kept the twin towers.
im there today sunday 16 may 2010 oxford unied v york city lol
@ranndino well it is the most expensive in the world
this ultra modern architecture is nice, BUT the original Wembley is a Holy place, with PRICELESS memories , so 1 billion pounds is nothing ,...)
yes well said
@mabuskiller ...suuuure it is...
@justnotcricket oh ok :)
move to chelsea wembley stadium
How? It's not inflatable. Plus Chelsea is just a part of London.
@classicshit1
It's far from the best stadium in the world! It's a symbol of modern football. Norman Foster is an emeny of architecture.
I think it is the best stadium
WHO ???!!!
Not impressive look from the outside 😕
bloc party - srxt
What does he mean "this is where the twin towers were"? lol THIS IS THE UK LOL
kash tag Wembley used to have 2 towers outside known as the twin towers
y did they never rebuild the twin towers?
Cameron Walsh They'd be in the seats...
sadly not
The new Wembley to big
Soulless
my backyards bigger, XD

Nice stadium, terrible location.
The stadium is alrite but it's location is shit. It seems London must be the focus for everything nowadays.
its quite an ugly design.
