Cyber is way harder than any other specialization in computer science. although i'm from core cs but it requires a lot than any one can imagine so always know that "if you come here there is no going back"

To those interested in sector: Don't join here if you are not ready to work in rotational shifts including night shift and also should be ready to join any time in a week if some critical incident happens. Basically be ready to work any time. Skill set needed is vast and needed to be uptodate. So you should be ready to learn everyday.

In my college, the average placement package for Computer Science students is around 13-14 lakhs, but most students are focusing on development and DSA (Data Structures and Algorithms). Unfortunately, very few companies specializing in cybersecurity visit our campus. Last year, only Accops and Deloitte came for cybersecurity roles. Considering this situation, I am uncertain whether I should follow the majority by focusing on development, or if I should continue pursuing cybersecurity. The one thing i wanted to ask you about the connections btw software development and cyber security . Like should i learn DSA inorder for cybersecurity. The hard issue me and students facing is majority of the syllabus in the computer science engineering is outdated and even contain the unsable subjects in the curriculum . The class is full of theories , some programs, assignments , records and exams . Sem and year is going very fast . The issue is it is really hard to even manage the college and technical skills needed for software development or security for better jobs. So if for software development, then students needed to practice leetcode and data structures and development projects. This only takes a major time like for practice ds . So im not much interested in DSA, all my enthusiasm for learning goes because of this loop. So the only thing i feel interested is security , but as you said , there is so much different level of skills needed for security . So my qn is can i do it like if im not interested in DSA , like even if im ready to push emotion and feeling . It fulls my life , so what should i do? . Im in a confused state . So what should i do ?

Certifications are one of the best ways to gain skills. And OSCP is a good one. Apart from technical skills you also need soft skills to crack the interviews, which they don't teach. So work on that as well

see idont know about how hard cyber security is , but i really can tell ki if you really are good in this, you will make heck of money ,i had one classmate(2024)passout, he was just into this field did internships whatnot, recently joined a startup,mannnnnnnn (tier3),im here stuck mujhe kuch ni aata i have always been scared of every fucking techstack, reality hits when you realize ki kuch bhi kro bss decide kro jaldi (im fucking looser ,did an intership that got over abhi no offer in handdd,one of that guy who did dsa , orrr kuch dhang se ni aata)

Certifications are one of the best ways to gain skills. And OSCP is a good one. Apart from technical skills you also need soft skills to crack the interviews, which they don't teach. So work on that as well
