I own a black edition Apollo 8p. I was shocked Universal Audio didn't add the room correction software into this version of the hardware so I went out and purchased the Arc studio system AKM Velvet Sound AD/DA converters. UA forgetting about their customers not good. Locking software into a new model is not a way to push older customers to newer models. It pushes us away. I have a Audient Evo 2 channel interface that has auto gain built in. I paid $80 for it. like 5 years ago. I mean this is old software base tech that could have been added into all of the apollos. The only thing that would get my attention to an upgrade is more powerful DSP chips. I have an OCTO Satellite and love it. The fact that the DSP chips have the same power for 20 years baffles me. I still love UA don't get me wrong. I wish they would consider all of their customers. I paid 3k for my Apollo so with that said you don't get crap for a trade in and it's not that much of a difference if you do.
Just got my Apollo X8 with the Sphere DLX microphone and I couldn't be happier! The hardware, software, and the tight integration between both worlds is outstanding. Thank you UA :)
I actually posted this idea 4-5 years back on the forums, glad to see it finally!! :) I own sonorworks 3, but sounds like will have to upgrade and get the new apollo, yikes. Well been a user since UAD-1, so I guess I'm used to this constant shakedown... lol
This is the biggest & best major update in a long time UA did and I´m glad that I can stil use this feature with my Apollo x6! Good job guys, keep improving 👌
It’s frustrating to see Universal Audio market the Apollo X8 Gen2 as a major upgrade when, in reality, the only significant change is the slightly improved D/A converters. The new Auto-Gain feature is entirely software-based, yet it’s locked behind the Gen2 model-clearly a move to push sales. In truth, Auto-Gain could easily be made available for the Gen1 as well, but Universal Audio seems more focused on profit than offering real value to their customers. If you already own the Gen1, there’s really no compelling reason to upgrade, unless you’re willing to pay for a feature that could work just as well on your existing hardware. UA, this is just too transparent and disappointing!
SAD!!! I Totally Agree... I Was Looking To Spend My Money On An Upgrade That Really Took Me to the Next Level i.e. Clocking Upgrade, DSP Upgrade - When Recording Drums I would Like Tape, A Chanel Strip and some other fun plugin on each Chanel So I Can Have A Mix Ready Recording.. I Have Spent So MUCH CASH ON UNISON PLUGS BUT CANT USE THEN WHEN TRACKING DRUMS CAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DSP .... BOOOOO
Patience, they'll probably release it. Understandibly when they push a new revision, there has to be a selling point at least for a few months. If not, I'll join your frustration 🙂
I have an apollo twin X. I have a subwoofer, but I don't know how to go about using Bass Management. because when I connect the subwoofer to Line3/4, I can't select 2.1. only stereo mode. There is no way to correct the soundid multichannel mode. There are no specific tutorials on how to connect the subwoofer to twin x and use them properly.
Desktops do not do surround formats, so stereo is what you want. And then you'll do this. support.sonarworks.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019769079-Measuring-a-2-0-stereo-setup-with-subwoofer
All correction apps have system integration where you can set your output UA cards also there. So during bouncing nothing will be affected, if there worries. Actually 300e for output correction EQ Is too much in present plugins market reality. Just for my taste Realphones for headphones correction is much better as it not only correct but also try emulate crossfeed and room. But nothing as good as reference track.

So disappointed that this doesn't apply to people who own UAD Arrow interfaces. Having a bedroom studio my Arrow has served me more than well and i've never felt the need to upgrade. And considering it still has the same DSP chips as the newer Apollos... There really is no other reason than greed that the monitor and headphone correction isn't also supported on the Arrow. Which is a shame because I also have a subwoofer and would love to have been able to use the subwoofer management feature too.
Question for UA: I'm considering Apollo x8p gen2. Since I also plan to add Neumann kh120 mk2 and kh750 sub, along with Ma1 calibration tool (by Neumann), is there any need to buy x8p gen2? Is there any meaning in double calibration, with both Neumann and Sonarworks? And one more question..which microphone are we using for calibration Apollo? Ir doesn't come with measurement mic in the package, right?
Please fix UA connect , I’ve done everything your support page has said and it still won’t work , and please make it so Sound city doesn’t need to be connected to the internet to use , how dumb is that .

A year ago I bought Apollo x8 and had access to Autotune, then they invented Autotune X and in order to have access to Autotune I have to pay for an upgrade to Autotune X which is same crap but with an X. Man, UA is so desperate for money
I was curious recently I just purchased an apollo x6 heritage, you mentioned in the video sound id works can be used on the 1st edition, is there a tutorial on how to load this on the 1st edition? Excellent information in this video thanks for sharing.
I got the Apollo x8 Gen 2 and received the Sonarworks activation today. Sonarworks ruined my computer. I had to reinstall everything. Apollo is fantastic but that Sonarworks software is clunky, buggy, and does not play well with any other audio drivers on a Mac.
@@UniversalAudio Clear : Can I connect Apollo Twin X (gen1 or gen2) and Apollo 16 mk II into same Mac, and get the benefit of X and extenssions from 16 mk II
Don't get me wrong, I think there is still a place for DSP based systems. I don't care how fast anyone thinks computers are, having the layer of extra DSP for tracking can't be beat. Keep the selling point to just that. The sales pitch went from "You need DSP to free up your computer's CPU for other tasks". Now the pitch is "use the native plugins to free up your DSP for other tasks". People will call bullshit on that kind of pitch. We aren't stupid.
Can you explain why this new Apollo generation doesn't have a modern chip that can run all the UAD plugins with ease at 96kHz and up? The truth is, this Apollo is hugely expensive and doesn't stack up against Audient or other offerings, in view of conversion and value. UAD have been trading off relatively low res hardware and rehashed code for plugins for a while, with the most effective marketing team and budget. Also, it would be great to hear why the Native versions of plugins that people have already paid for, have dried up? Where are they and why are people expected to pay for them again when they eventually get churned out? It's great that you jumped ship from NI and Izotope, but a shame you jumped into UAD, who're just as bad. You are a great presenter and are a very likeable fellow.

Nice to see you back, Geoff.
I am glad UA listened to my suggestion (years ago)of the integrated room correction.🎉

So glad SW gets added to gen 1s aswell, a fresh addition to an already stunning card!
The auto gain is a software feature. Why not add that to gen 1?
when could we expect the next gen of apollo’s for windows
Gen2s work great with PCs that have TB3/4 NOW.
When will there be a usb c version ?
Sorry, we can't comment on any future products, releases, or promotions. We appreciate your interest though and encourage you to stay tuned!
Went ahead and bought the Gen 2 x16 to upgrade from my Gen 1 x6 and goodness… DO I LOVE IT!

Isn't correcting nulls with eq pointless? I believe Sonarworks doesn't correct time based problems, does it?
Correct
You can't fix a null. You have to move location. But SW can help with areas that are NOT nulls.
Will there be an update to the Gen 1 X6 for the auto gain?
I’d like to know
Auto Gain is a Gen 2 exclusive. Also, x16s do not have mic preamps so even Gen 2 x16s do not have it.
@UniversalAudio Seems unfair to all the existing gen 1 Apollo x6 users after spending $2600. Please make it make sense 🤔
Geoff's videos are so clear. Good addition to the team. Quick question: how much DSP is SoundID expected to use?
It's less than a chip for basic stereo correction. Almost an entire chip for 9.1.6

Arrow/Solo doesn't have enough DSP to handle all the regular duties like mixer channels and Unison slots etc and still have room for correction.
can I correct my mon and alt monitors or doesn't the correction only apply to the main monitor output?
Main mon only, no alt mons. Be sure to share your thoughts directly with the team via the Feedback feature of UA Connect.

We of course recommend you use SW and AMC. Sonarworks has an excellent measurement mic you can buy.

IS THE DSP INCREASED? CAN I RUN MORE PLUGINS NOW WHEN RECORDING ON THIS 8-PRE VERSION THEN ON MY LAST 8-PREE VERSION
Same amazing clocking! No DSP increases.

Good day what if I don't want to use sound ID and just EQ it myself?
You can take a measurement and tweak the results if you like. But there is no option to just EQ it yourself, that would just be guessing.
