Really pleased that you have continued the updates, yours is one of very few series that show progression from planting to a full grown hedge. Planted ours in winter and finally seeing some growth, a long way before they rival yours though. Keep up the good work, your videos are really appreciated.

You'll see a big burst of growth soon! These are with me neglecting them a little and only giving them water during the +100 degree summers! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!

Yes, thank you. I've been following since you 1st planted and love the progress! I planted a row of 15 about 1.5 years ago, so I'm waiting on my privacy hedge

So excited to see how it looks like again next year. It's like watching a puppy grow!

Glad you enjoy, though I think the puppy would be more fun! Hope to see you in the future!

Is this the same hedge you planted 4 years ago?!! AMAZING!!!!

Yep! This is without watering or fertilizing too, it would be 100x better!

It was definitely time for their first trim. Now that you shaped them they should fill in nicely.
I didn't realize that they were so tall in your last video.

They get more filled in every time :). I just need to stay on top of the trimming. So tall? Maybe. Or I'm just too short, haha! Thanks Dale!

Nice job with the trimming!! Amazing how tall they are. I planted a row of 24 just a tad over a year now and I still have probably two more years before I have to use a trimmer like you have. Speaking of that and maybe you said it in the video adn I missed it but can you tell me what the name brand of that trimmer is? Is it a Greenworks? I need to get a hedge trimmer at some point in the next year. Thanks.

Yes this a 40v Greenworks. Works pretty good. They have a 60v line if cost and weight aren't a problem. Thanks for stopping by!

Looks great! Can you share the plant name you planted? I am eager to plant something similar.

It's a Northern Privet, "Ligustrum x" is the scientific name. Mine is specifically the "ligustrum amurense". They aren't evergreen (leaves all year), if you have actual winter season. If you want that look at Laurel (Laurocerasus) or Leyland (Leylandii). Thank for stopping by!

I came across your videos and I am amazed how quickly your privets have grown! I planted mine about 9 years ago and although they have grown to a small privacy hedge, they are no where as tall as yours! (We're the same height so I don't need as tall of a ladder to trim the top!) Perhaps we have different breeds of privet (I have the waxleaf) but how did you get yours to grow tall? Do you recommend trimming the tops to encourage growth?

I'm a bit surprised they haven't grow as large in that time! Privets are known to be fast growing, waxleaf is one of them, I wonder if maybe they are another close species. If they are getting full sun and water a few times a month they should be booming. I don't water them unless theres +100 degree weeks. If you need them taller, don't trim the tops or if you must trim only half of the new growth (if you get any). I trim the top of mine so that they grow outwards and fill in more. Mine got taller before filling in, maybe yours filled in quicker, so you'll need to encourage the height. Hope that helps a little!

@@rsxen8990 mine started out as $15 potted plants from home depot. When I started mine, they were lower to the ground and a little shorter than the 5 month old plants in your video. Mine are definitely more filled in at the bottom. I definitely need to encourage the top growth.

Mine aren’t growing that well, year two. Do they take off year 3? I hear first year they creep, second year leap, third year they leap!

Mine did struggle year 2 a bit but it was a dry summer and I had to move them. There could be many factors, if they are still growing, give them the time. Once they get established you'll being trimming them every year.

Not sure how much excitement there's gonna be. I've said it before, that I'd be maintaining what I have. I might not be the channel for you, I do appreciate the times you've given my videos a try!
