I received a form 2645c, There werent any spelling errors or anything, and there was a real irs number on the paper, when i called, the agent asked me to verify my name, address date of birth and ssn, that doesnt sound right or normal to me, scam? I honestly do not know, im the one that called them, and i verified the phone number is on the irs website. Any ideas?
She put me on hold and went to verify my account/profile and see if they had the letter on file, which I think she said they did. I posted a comment but I don't know where it went. The number on the letter is listed on their website... so is it normal for them to ask for all info like that to verify someone?
@@NoelLorenzanaCPA The only reason I'm more of feeling like an idiot right now is due to my tax guy being more suspicious so I was seeking a third opinion, he said it was odd that they would ask for those things on a relatively pointless letter that I received, the lady informed me to keep the letter and await to possibly see what happens with it next, but she thought it was odd that I received it at all.
Have you received a fake IRS notice? How did you know it was fake?

So what happened next on the call after you verified your information?

Maybe it was sent in error. Those letters are often automated. Did the letter say anything specific?
