      I wonder whats next, Jerek?....a sequel to a beloved 1996 fps that came out around the time of Quake, had been in development for 15 years by a certain 3D company with the motto: "Reality is our game." and the greasy company that butchered Colonial Marines....

      Early on you mentioned there is no way to record PSP. The PSP-2000 and 3000 models had component output. But it looks like you have the PSP-1000. SO your current situation means you cannot record PSP, not that it is not recordable at all.

      Also, that roll looks exactly like the roll you can do in MGS3. Like how it starts out fast with a dive and then you slow down gradually with the roll part, and then you finally get up. The HUD also looks pretty similar to Peace Walkers HUD with how there’s a little low-res icon of the equipped gun filled in with white and how the bullets you have in a mag are displayed and go down with how many bullets you shoot.

    If you have a model 2000 or 3000 (unlikely if your friend bought it anywhere near launch) you can actually plug in component out cables to the audio and remote jack. Hyperkin makes a direct to HDMI one you could stream chapter 5 with easily. I'm guessing if you were that interested in psp and your friend had lost interest in his, he had a 1000 series which doesn't support it.

      @jesserogalski1402 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As someone who played all the games, you're not missing too much. The 1st game was pretty generic. Cool lore, but the game, itself, was pretty eh. The next two were better, but tried too hard on the visual front and really pushed the PS3, resulting in the framerate constantly dropping below even 30.
      Then the one they released on the PS4 looked great, but had an identity crisis, tried throwing in a dozen new systems, but kept the straightforward FPS style of the original, meaning it just told you HAVE to do this all the way through the game, with the mechanics having little to offer outside of the specific moments they make you use them on.
      In my opinion, them moving onto the Horizon Zero Dawn series was a great move. If anything, I would be behind Sony remastering 2 and 3 for the PS4/5/PC being they were actually solid, visceral shooters that were hindered by their hardware, but I'm surprised the series lasted as long as it did, being the only (in my opinion) good games in the series played poorly performance wise.

      @Max_Payn3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it had actually played more like halo I feel like that would have been better in the long run. But they (1 and 2) always played like decent call of duty knock offs, they never really utilized the sci-fi setting enough. In a sea of cod like games they just never stood out that much. The multiplayer of Killzone 2 was decent but that was the only online KZ game I played

They are literally sitting on a gold mine, imagine a modern killzone with raytracing and advanced movement features. They could also do something like the master chief collection. Hey Jarek, if you're going to play FPS games on the PsP I would suggest using PPssPP and rebinding controls in game and in the emulator. I think most FPS games on the PsP allowed for rebinding your controls and one of the important things here is that your could rebind aiming to the analog-stick instead of the face-buttons. In PPssPP you can then rebind analog-stick to the mouse and face-buttons to wasd, and with some tweaking you can get some reasonable mouse and keyboard controls.
    If you do some more PsP games, here's some suggestions: Medal of Honor Heroes, Ghost in the Shell, Coded Arms(the first one is really interesting, a bit of a dungeon crawler fps), there's also a mod scene for Battlefront 2 on the PsP.

    Frank Jaeger, better known by his codename Gray Fox, is a fictional character and protagonist from Konami's Metal Gear series. Created by Hideo Kojima and designed by Yoji Shinkawa, he first appears in the series' original 1987 game Metal Gear, and is one of the few characters to appear in both the original 2D games and the later 3D games. First introduced in the original game as a high-ranking agent of FOXHOUND who goes missing during a mission to Outer Heaven, he is saved by fellow FOXHOUND agent Solid Snake but goes missing during the original game and its sequel Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake during which he is revealed to have sided with Big Boss; he is eventually defeated and left for dead. The character is reintroduced in Metal Gear Solid as the Cyborg Ninja, a mysterious being wearing a powered armor exoskeleton and armed with a high-frequency blade. During Liquid Snake's FOXHOUND revolt at Shadow Moses, he confronts Solid Snake on several occasions, while also providing advice via CODEC as a faceless contact named Deepthroat.

      great game btw killzone liberation that is (i have nothing to comment on about metal gear solid).

  • @Uejji
    @Uejji 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Killzone Liberation is not an isometric game. Isometric doesn't mean "3/4 angle" -- It means drawn or rendered without perspective, as if all horizons are infinitely far away.
    For example, Sim City 4 is isometric, Cities: Skylines is not. Q-bert is isometric. This is not. See how the perspective of the landscape changes as the map moves around and how the camera provides parallax? This does not happen in isometric projection.

I have played this game and I'm pretty sure I still have the copy of it probably stashed away with my PSP.. wherever I put that... I remember the game being fun, a little challenging at times but overall a pretty good experience for the time. Gonna be interesting to see how it stacks up to modern scrutiny

    It's still pretty interesting to see how every studio worked around the limitations of the PSP. and sometimes I wonder if the console would have had more of a future if it came with dual analog.

    • @ColdHardTruthNews
      @ColdHardTruthNews 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably. But since the PS Vita has dual analog sticks, it wouldn't have made sense to do so.
      Ironically, the PSP outsold the PS Vita.
      Incredible.

    What impressed me about this game was the enemy AI. To this day, you won't often see such realistic reactions. They would try to flank you and even deliberately shoot explosive barrels near you.
    In regards to difficulty, I normally beat the base game on the hardest difficulty. It's manageable. Chapter 5 is when it becomes frustrating for me, but i have beaten it before.

    Oh man, very similar story for me too! Back when I got my PSP (must have been back in 2008 or so), that was suuuch a huge deal for a lotta reasons. For one thing, much like for you, my family was certainly not rolling in it back then and new consoles were pretty scarce for my siblings n' I. Getting that Crisis Core edition PSP-2000 was mind blowing for me! Up until that point, I had never owned my own game system that was just for me and mannnn did I ever sink some good hours into this lil' sucker! My PSP went through some hell though unfortunately and is not here to tell its tale lol! A friend of mine spilled grape Fanta alllll over it and it was never the same since but to make matters worse, it was stolen years ago (hope that loser liked soda ridden handhelds lollll).
    As for the Killzone series, it's one of my fave FPS franchises and while I would have loooved to see Guerilla attempt a FPS for Liberation's design, I was still very engaged in the game just fine. Liberation reeeeally reminded me of the old Spec Ops PS1 games, with its top down perspective and limited view of the battlefield, really kept me on my toes.
    Awesome video as always Jarek! :V
    Edit:
    Also! Yes, please! More PSP games in the future! I'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the shooters on the system! :V

    12:10 I remember playing this game online many many years ago. A common strategy was to shoot your enemy with a shotgun so it knocks them down, throw a grenade at them, and then shoot them back down after they get up. Opponent has no chance from that.
