My first play-through of OoT had the censored music in the fire temple but I remember playing through the game with a friend some 5 years later and his cartridge has the original music. I was like "hooooooooly shit this is amazing." (even tho I feel like Koji did a pretty good job of trying to capture the same 'feel' with re-used shadow temple samples). keep up the awesome work. He just happend to be at the fire temple too, and I was so confused, I was like, wasn't this music differant?? I could of swore there was a chior or something chanting in the background. He had no idea what I was talking about. Later I took to youtube (very early youtube at that) and NO ONE had uploaded the original version, atleast to the extent that I could find. I felt like I had a false memory. It wasn't until even more years had passed where I understood the controversy, and that several versions of Ocarina of Time were released. Ironically now, it appears there has been a course correction, now I can't seem to find the edited version at all, which I think is good in its own right, just not as iconic.
I just discovered this and subscribed! Amazing work! I've always had an idea of replacing the shadow temple voice samples with the choir samples from the N64 Rareware games like the ones used in Mayahem Temple in Banjo Tooie and Angry Aztec in DonkeyKong 64. It was removed because the chanting you hear in the original version is the Islamic profession of faith. The Arabic language you hear translates to "There is no god but Allah."
