    Just did this on my 2017 GX today. This made me feel a lot better about using Ravenol for my T-case as well. I just pulled the nozzle right out of the bottle and it poured right in. No pump needed. Used your video to do the rear diff yesterday. Thank you. Keep the videos coming.

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Josh, i knew that Ravenol nozzle was supposed to be for something dammit. Ugh...i hate it when i rush into things and find out there was a short cut.

  • @Cocora22
    @Cocora22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just did this today. The Ravenol works great. On the top of my bottles there are 2 D shaped. rings. You pull up on them and the bottle neck expands. Before you unscrew the cap off completely carefully pull again and you will extend the fill tube and then pull off the cap. It was great and made it super easy. In fact I saved those bottles and next time I'll transfer my Amsoil to those bottles, because even the Amsoil squeeze bags aren't as easy as the Ravenol container!! Again another big thanks for your videos!!!!!!!!!!!
    By the way I also did the front and rear differentials. My truck only has 20,000 miles and there was. a lot of gunk on both magnets. So I'm very happy I did them. The transfer case fluid looked good. Total spent today on 2 differentials, transfer case and grease on the drive shaft including all new gaskets about $110.00. Total cost of tools, gadgets, my time jack stands ect. probably $1000.00 😂😂😂😂

    I just put this oil in my 2003 Gx470 transfer case. The Ravenol bottle has a 6 inch nozzle hidden directly under the cap. You don't open the cap. Lift the two half rings that is on top then twist and pull up. It'll extend out. Best invention ever.

    Bob thanks for the video. I just got my hands on a 2012 GX with 24k miles on it. The Sinatra CD was still in the player, so I’m reasonably confident the former owner drove it once a week for her Bridge game to sip boxed wine and debate her friends whether Tom Selleck or Burt Renyonds was sexier in 1984. Looking forward to tackling this project soon. Looks like a 4 beer job.

    Great video Bob. Out of curiosity I called my local Houston Lexus dealership to ask them how much they charge for the front diff, transfer case and rear Diff fluid change. I was quoted $600. Umm, no thanks. Ordered Redline gear oil, transfer case oil and did it myself. Ordered a washer kit on Amazon. Mine is a 2015 Lexus GX with 60k. Figure I’m good until another 60k miles with Redline fluids. Love your videos Bob. I’ve watched all of them.

Dropped pan to clean magnets and get extra oil out...was 148oz total WS that came out to include what was in the pan. Toyota dealer sold WS for 8.57/qt. Needed 5 quarts. Pan gasket cracked apart removing it so glad I bought that too. 134k miles dunno if it was ever changed. Dirty oil but no shavings. The brakes are quite simple and straightforward. As far as transmission fluid replacement, there are quite a number of youtube tutorials that does decent coverage on it. I wouldn't worry about measuring the amount you take out to the amount you need to fill back in because there is an overflow bolt. If you put in too much, just open the overflow and whatever is overfilled with spill out.

    Checked the fluid levels on my moms 2020. Car has 28k miles, we have payed the stealership to check a fluid levels muntiple times. Anyway, been noticing slight gear wind noise. I dont care about the noise, but thats a noise my 41 year old jeep should be making, not a lower mikes let alone new car with a chain driven t case. Checked front diff, rear diff, and t case. All low, t case not as bad but still low. Both diffs seems to have fine particles in it. Ive seen worse chips, but thats in clapped out jeeps with 300k miles, towing and offroad miles included. Like i say more chips then a 2020 should have. Paint was intact, plugs were a little rusty. You can tell no ones ever checked it. Exact same thing as when my dad worked at the chrystler dealer, and grandpa ran into the same issue with my jeep back in 1981. It has 800 miles and the transmission was low. Dealer prep there suposed to check the stiff cause they ship from factory a lil low. Idk of its for spils or just cause 1 ounce on 7 milion cars adds up to alot of $ saved but this is why my dad always says "if you want the job done right you have to do it yourself." We have never hired a mechanic or anyone hardy to fix anything unless under warrenty. First new car my parents ever bought and so far not impressed. This is why i am the warrenty on my own car, also why i dont let anyone AND I MEAN ANYONE touch my car with there dirty meat beaters. Cant trust the work of most mechanics. Had wheels come loose even cause the shop was too lazy to tighten lugs to 80 ft pounds or whatever the jeep requires.

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, your comment was definitely a good read. I do agree with you about nobody touching my truck except me but my reasoning is different from yours. I began working on my own vehicles because i couldn’t afford a mechanic. I also went to mechanic school in Arizona straight out of community college because i enjoyed working with my hands. After graduating and one year at a gas station i decided this was not an ideal career choice. Went back to college to change my course in life. But that’s besides the point. Lack of Financial resources mixed with a good deal of mechanical aptitude had me roll up my sleeves. Thanks for the comment Sam.

      Oh damn....SZ, all the ones on youtube right now are pretty straightforward. I specifically liked the one where the guy brought the fill tube all the way to the top of the engine and attached a funnel instead of using a Pump while under the car. But if you are in a pickle right now and need it done ASAP, i would just take your ATF WS and go to a mechanic. Mine charges $85 for WS and labor. I"m sure yours will ask you for $60 or so bucks to drain and fill w/ your own fluid. Sorry i haven't gotten around to doing a Transmission one, been super busy.

      Did you mean this (link below). If so, yes you’re supposed to when you do a full tranny flush and fill. I do quick drain and fills in between at shorter intervals that’s why i didn’t replace mine yet. I tow a trailer and a boat often so i replace my tranny oil before the 30k interval’s. I usually do it at 15k.

      You have to accommodate 2 things: 27 ft lbs and 24mm bolt.(transfer case). Most sockets at 24mm are usually 1/2 inch drives. It’s better to use Torque wrench that is a direct fit to your socket rather than depend on reducers or adapters. So 1/2 inch drive torque wrench.
