Rich I like your very laid-back review of the plane. Watched many of your vids and never felt like you just want to sell the plane, it’s always more informative than sales pitch. Thank you !
Remember working on Caravans 25 years ago. Biggest issue I remember was welding exhaust all the time. Every service required some welding it seemed. Also installed a couple cargo pods on them. Was a great workhorse.
Not being a pilot, I love how the pilot "Rich" is 100% relaxed during the presentation & for much of the flight his hands are not on the controls. This tells me the plane is like he said, easy to fly. I am watching because I promised my youngest son I'd pay for him to get his pilot's license next summer when he is home from college, & I imagine him flying this awesome plane.
@@FlyingwithRich ohh the B777 is a beautiful plane, it is the best job ever, but is a different job, totally different. I think the fun is with the Caravan... 😄👍
Very interesting to see your videos Rich. I did my flight training at Angel City Flyers on KLGB back in 2008/9. its so pleasing to see you doing these exact same traffic patterns with all this cool gear.
What a gorgeous aircraft! I do have to say though I always thought caravans looked goofy without the cargo pod under the belly. But that’s just my opinion. I still love the caravan it’s fantastic aircraft!
Good video! Do you have a Caravan with the Honeywell Garrett 330 conversion turbine? I would really like to see a video on a conversion . Patrick from Albuquerque
So would you take this over the kodiak? I like the short style of this, makes it much more attractive, but the Kodiak is like totally badass looking, IMHO
I wonder what the Caravan would look like with wheel pants over regular size tires,, as well as any increase in speed as a result of being equipped with wheel pants?
Probably not much net positive when you consider extra weight, maintenance and cost. I think would cut into the utility component of the airplane for a very small speed benefit. Not sure it would look good either. Thanks for watching!
I agree - getting ready to do more King Air 90 flying soon so I’ll let you know after I get more time in that. My problem is they are all my favorites! Thanks for watching!
@@FlyingwithRich Yes. I was mistaking as I thought your plane was 1.3 when I commented. Even so I don't believe the Kodiak has radar and that would cost a pretty penny to upgrade I am thinking. I would love to see you do a review on a Pilatus Porter. If I could at this time I would go that route for my future (hopefully) needs. You have a great aviation channel. Cheers.
Not much depreciation on these from new, eh? At $1.6M or so it might be tough to turn a profit if that is what you need to keep her flying, which I would need to do ;-).....Lemme run some numbers and look at some routes and see what I come up with. A robust, beautiful aircraft, TY for the tour!

Glad I stopped by. I don't anything about airplane other than its looks like one. What is the range? can this aircraft fly from New York to Cali? I guess, it will need to refuel for sure due to the long distance.
Hello Rich .....is there any nice condition caravan for sale that you know ..... i might be interested as i just got a Legend 600 for UAE aviation club.
@@FlyingwithRich Thank you, may you know about another 208 for sale? we are looking for similar one, utilitarian. somo C182 for sale available? Thank you.
“Short” Caravan? C-208A….and they come with a belly pod standard. You should do a little more research. And they aren’t a good short field take off airplane…. Land fairly short with Beta, but heavy takeoff needs some runway. We flew out of 1800 ft runways in the Delta(western Alaska) with shortest being 1300 feet…..and we had -114 engines, not -114A….which would’ve been great tho the EX is of course the better choice…especially on floats…
Yes “Short Caravan” - sold lots of them and never heard of them called a 208A. Model the FAA shows is 208 - same with Cessna. Never sold any 208 or 208B (except SCM) with a Cargo Pod as standard - always an option. They are an excellent short field aircraft.
I'm starting my journey to getting my pilot's license Saturday w/ my first lesson. Hopefully by the time I'm ready for this, crypto will make me rich enough to be able to afford something like this. Otherwise, Ill just ask for a ride :P
Hey, You didnt talk about fuel burn.
Can you detail the operating costs, please? Thanks
It averages about 50 GPH - direct operating cost estimate (fuel, oil, engine & prop reserves, scheduled mx) under $500/hr depending on fuel price.
You must have missed 7:40
Awesome video! You’re the first person I’m calling the instant my bank account supports a 1.8 million dollar airplane.

Cessna has been a great platform to learn on for decades it’s a very forgiving plane for small mistakes compared to a Mooney or cirrus will bite you
That is one of the coolest looking aircraft
It is my dream to get my license and fly one of these around as a career! Love the 208 with the cargo pod so much!

Kudos for showing the price and operating costs.

I have about 30 hours of single engine experience turbo prop now in a PAC 750 and looking forward to getting more in the Caravan one day
Never flown the PAC 750 but see them around - mostly in skydiving ops.
I've always been impressed by the Caravan, since seeing it in harsh operation in the Air Alaska films.
Definitely a rugged airplane - lots of them all over the world in tough operating conditions. Such a great machine - thanks for watching!
I’m jealous of your job! What a beautiful airplane.
Thank you for watching. It’s a great airplane and pretty fun job!
Good seeing you the other day! I’ll come by for a visit!
Great to see you too- look forward to it. Love the Mooney!!

Yep.
Great video, perfect 182 upgrade 😃
Glad you like it! Thanks!
For me this airplane is one of the best designed single engine utility aircraft.

I agree with your opinion
It's never a looker imo, without a pod it's tall and goofy, but with a pod it just looks pregnant

Glad I stopped by. I don't anything about airplane other than its looks like one. What is the range? can this aircraft fly from New York to Cali? I guess, it will need to refuel for sure due to the long distance.
Roughly 1000 NM range. It won’t make NY to CA non-stop.
@@FlyingwithRich Thanks for the info. How fast can it fly? I guess. you'll do 3 stops for fuel if you're traveling across the country.
It’s 170 ktas at 12000 - how many stops depends a lot on winds and how you set power - max speed or max range.
Why does the caravan have that large exhaust shroud when other single turbines manage with smaller stacks?
Asking for a friend.
Single port exhaust - most turboprops/engines have dual.
See this wound be the plane to have people can go in the back and pee , it’s huge. How far will it go? Great video by they way my man!
Thanks -1000 NM!
Your handheld video camera hardly shakes...does it have a stabilization system built in?
I’m pretty sure it does have stabilization.
Hello Rich .....is there any nice condition caravan for sale that you know ..... i might be interested as i just got a Legend 600 for UAE aviation club.
Tight market on the Caravans right now - let me know specifics of what you are looking for .
Hi, How much is it...? For the price
Good for northern Canada, or do operators need a twin engine plane?
Caravans are very popular in Canada. Thanks for watching!
Now I understand why everyone flies 50yo planes.
These things are really freaking expensive.
Cool plane though.
I like to come out and fly and move some Caravans out to customers
Is the bulge under the fuselage standard for these Caravans? Does anyone know what is inside the bulging structure under the fuselage?
It’s the fairing that protects the De-ice fluid tank. Thanks for watching!
Some Caravans have large storage areas there (this one does not). Small airlines use them to hold luggage.
what power setting were you using for take-off? doesn't look like 100%.
1865 lbs is the max torque setting. I probably didn’t go all the way to 1865 lbs - no particular reason, just didn’t need all the power.
Do they hold 5 people including pilots 🤔
Yes.
@Flying with Rich something like that be amazing for my family including me the pilot
Agree. Great airplane for utility with people and gear. Thanks for watching.
Why the panel is too high ?
It’s not too high.
What does it cost to do an annual inspection?
Really depends on age, time, etc., but $12K/year estimate.
$ ?
👍👍👍👍👍
