It reminds me of when I was a young engineer in South East Asia.
All the SMEs in my country were all from the Western countries and Japan. And the senior and middle managers are expatriate from these countries.
They were similarly "bossy" to their local subordinates and secretive about their operations. 🙄
They too live the high life, while the locals are striving to make a living.
So China has learned well from the West and Japan. 😄

They hired westerners to build and operated their countries and they worked below the westerners but at the same time learn from them.
