- In this video, I show you how to install BCML on your PC as well as set it up so it can work with your instance of CEMU. I also show you how to install a mod for BOTW using BCML.
This is the version of Python used in this video (Scroll to the bottom of the page for downloads):

This is the website where I downloaded the example mod:

- Every enemy is a Lynel
- Snowboards of Hyrule (Link has a snowboard equipped)

There are many incredible mods for Breath Of The Wild. Whether you're looking to give Link a snowboard, turn every enemy into a Lynel, or install one of the popular major community content packs, then you'll need to learn how to install mods.
In this guide, we'll be talking about how to install mods for BOTW on Cemu WiiU Emulator with a tool called BCML (BOTW Cross-Platform Mod Loader). In order to do with, we will need to install a Python coding environment on your PC, which is what BCML is built with and requires to run.
Installing Python
Python is simple to install on any PC, but because it's a coding language, many people can get confused or overwhelmed. For BCML to work, we need to use any Python with a version between 3.7-3.9. For this guide, we used Python 3.8.10, which can be downloaded from the link above (scroll to the bottom of the page for the download).
Once downloaded, run the installer and it will create a folder called Python38 in the root directory of your hard drive (most likely C: drive if this is your default drive).
Once Python is installed, you can test your installation by opening your Command Prompt, which can be easily found by opening your Start Menu and typing "command prompt" or "cmd". Right click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.
In the command prompt, simply enter the command "python" and it should give you a new kind of prompt as well as some text that tells you which version of Python is installed. Congratulations, you've installed Python!
Now, you can press CTRL+Z and Enter to exit out of python, which will return you to the regular command prompt.
Installing BCML
While still in the command prompt window, we're going to enter a command that will install all the files we need for BCML, including the BCML application.
Type "pip install bcml" and hit enter. You will now get a long list of scripts and applications that will download, which are the required files for BCML.
Pip is Package Installer for Python, and it is used for downloading packages to your system. BCML is a registered package and pip will be able to download it without any issue.
Now that you have all the BCML files, navigate to the folder where Python was installed. In this example, it would be located at C:/Python38. In this folder is another folder called Scripts, and it would be located at C:/Python38/Scripts. This is where BCML was installed.
You will see an application called bcml, which you can click to run.
Setting Up BCML
Now that BCML is installed on your system, we need to configure some settings so that it can modify our game files. In the settings tab, we need to tell BCML where our Cemu application is located. Click on browse and select the folder where Cemu is located. You don't need to select the actual application, just the folder that holds it.
Next, we need to tell BCML where all of our game files are. We will do this for the base game, the update files, and the DLC files.
For the base game, click browse, then navigate to the base game's folder and then into the content folder. Click "select folder" and you should get a green checkmark signaling that it worked.
We will do the same for the update folder. Navigate to the game's update folder, then content folder, and click select folder.
For the DLC folder, there is a folder called 010. This is the folder we want to navigate into before clicking select folder.
We should now have all green checkmarks for our folder selection. On the bottom right corner of the BCML's settings page there is blue save icon. Click on it to save your settings. Congratulations, BCML is now set up!
Installing Mods
Most BOTW mods are hosted on Game Banana, and can be downloaded directly from there. Select any mod that is BCML compatible, and download it to any folder on your system. With BCML open, double click on the mod you've downloaded and BCML will pop up a prompt for your asking if you want to install this mod.
Once the mod is installed, you are ready to play! Launch Cemu and run your game, or select "Launch Game" from within BCML. Either way, you're loading the same game files and will be playing the modded version of Zelda: BOTW. - เกม
Very important tip when installing python that wasn't mentioned in the video. Make sure to check the box at the bottom that says "Add Python "your version" to PATH" otherwise you will not be able to run python in CMD.
Thanks! I was wondering why it wasn’t popping up on CMD
@@Anthonycha No problem, I am glad I could help.
THANK YOU I was wondering why it was sending me to the microsoft store when I did "python" in cmd

Yo! You're a legend. Thank you so much.
Happy to help!
Straight to point very, easy process and volume was loud enough better than the Dev tutorial video, however my only problem is that u didn't tell people to make sure to add python version to path which is very important thank goodness I was watch two video at once if one of em missed a step.

Thanks bro! I loved reading this from you
Oddly enough in the game files there is no "Update Directory" or "DLC Directory" no matter how hard I dig for it. Thank you for helping the noobs like us!
The update and dlc are their own directory. I’m pretty sure you need them to run the game in the first place
@@Swashed_ nope, there are packs with only 2 folders - base game and DLC, without update
thank you very much, much apreciated
Thanks for the help have a good day.
Hey! Thank you for the video, just what i needed! Quick one, when I go to check the python install in CMD, it opens a windows store window with the download for the current python release. Is there a way to stop this?
got it! had to uninstall python and reinstall with "add python to PATH" checked :)
Thanks for posting the solution!

Soo what do you mean put it in the BCML folder cause there is a folder in site-packages named bcml but then there is the scripts folder. which one do I put it in?

Manual instal of python was not recognized by CMD even when enabling py so the alternative was to get a similar 3.8 from the microsdot store
Its because when you launch the installer you're supposed to click add python to path at the bottom, or else it wont work
@@natsuukii5866 Thank you, it worked!
THANK YOU FRIEND!
You're welcome!

i followed all of the instruction but for some strange reason when i open bcml, I get a white screen instead
Same here
I installed the exact version of python he was using and now it seems to work.
Try running as admin
thanks dude
oh im glad im in the right place c:
When I get to choosing the folders in BCLM I don't have the "content" folders in any of them.
you are awesome! thank you
for the bcml my fix was personally installing 3.8.8 then using non admin cmd then just typing "pip install bcml" then it worked :)
ok so basically when i download mods everything works out just fine, but then when i load the game, and i click on my latest save, it gets soft-locked into the loading screen

okay so i have the updates and the dlc but i dont have any of the other folders its just one folder what do i do then?
FOR ANYONE IN 2024 I YOUR GONNA WANNA CLICK ON CUSTOM INSTALL AND LEAVE THE FIRST TAP THE SAME CLICK NEXT AND THEN CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS ADD PYTHON TO ENVIORNMENTS (or something like that) also make sure to run cmd as administrator
I don't have the python folder??
Who would've guessed that installing python correctly was the hardest thing ever, followed the installer exactly, even put my own path, as someone in the comments said, but still nothing. I'm starting to understand all the hate comments over at gamebannana
Edit: Nvm im stupid, there is a little box I had to check

did step by step but when doing dlc and update folder dont get green check mark same folders as u
Question, when i launch bcml to setup it does not let me use the browse button to find the files? anyone know how to fix this

did you find it eventually? im currently looking for it. NEVERMIND i found it by searching for it in my C: folder, which took a really long time to load, but eventually python38 appeared.
Where do I get the botw games folder with content and stuff? I can't find anywhere where to download the botw and I keep getting unsolvable problems. I'm not understanding whatsoever how to get all the folders and files you're getting, I can't get base game directory or anything except cemu directory, so i'm wondering where you got all of the files you need for it

I have downloaded it but i cant seem to find the python28 file
Hi , I have a problem, since I installed mods and BCML to the cemu game, the game language (originally European Spansih) has changed to American Spanish. How can I change it to European Spanish again?
Mine doesnt work bcml is just a white screen and the debug says "[pywebview] WebView2 initialization failed with exception:
Unable to load DLL 'WebView2Loader.dll' or one of its dependencies: The specified module could not be found (0x8007007E)" even after i downloaded WebVeiw2Loader.dll
Edit: I was using the wrong python version
tried to follow the installation guide of python, when checking if installed python it forced me to download the microsoft store one (even if i did check the add python to path box) and it installed the BCML but when i try to open it it gives an error of not being able to recognize it
make sure you click install python path at the bottom when you first install python, then when you check it, it should work as normal, this is something he left out of the video that was very important
Hard to find people to get help with this so might as well try here. Having a real hard time installing BCML. Update and DLC directories just won't get a green checkmark even though they have the exact same path as CEMU does so not even sure what to do with it.
I have a similar issue
Doesn’t work for me. I’ve done everything but I can’t get the other three check marks for the base, update, and dlc..
Hey chief i keep getting this "output folder is empty" error when installing mods and i do not know what do about it.

weird problem, but after installing and resintalling BOTW through USB Helper, I noticed that my BOTW folder did not come with a content folder and even a completely different name than the one you have. As such, I can't set the BCML directory to accept the proper game, dlc, and update folders despite the game running just fine and working on it's own. Any idea why that is?

i can't find the bcml file in the Python Scripts selection. please help?
Had this problem as well. Make sure you go into the actual python folder and then script. If you're like me, I had a script folder in my root C: which was a different folder. Hit the windows key and search for python. Then right click and hit properties. That will give you a popup with the location of the actual python folder. Then Scripts should be in there. I also have multiple versions of python so if you do as well, make sure to check the correct version folder that you installed bcml in.
Hope this helps.
When I double click, it just brings me to the window that says "Modify", "Repair", and "Uninstall". I can't get to the scripts folder.
for some reason i dont have "bcml" inside the Script folder....just pip1, pip3.8 and pip3
and yes i have already installed bcml....
thank u!
when i look for the content folder for the directories (for example the base game folder) there is no content folder, just app files? if my problem is the version i currently use the European version.

When i type python in the cmd it just takes me to microsoft store 0-0
I have second wind install on Cemu but after i start the blood moon comes and the game shut down. Can i get some help please.
When i install the python files im not getting all the actual files and folders only 4 exe's im not sure if i missed something or im just stupid
Do you need the dlc or is it optional.
I’m on Mac and I don’t have cmd and bcml is for windows is there a workaround?
when im finished setting up bcml it says that not all areas are green even tho theyre the same as yours, any fix?
Hmmm…I’d just say to double check you’re selecting the correct folder :/ or that the game files were extracted (as opposed to just downloaded & not extracted). You get a green check mark if it found the files
got the same issue- won't let me add the language-- that's the only bit I'm missing, and I know I've got everything else right...
i played with the linkle mod and the animations but when i restart my game my botw dont open and my cemu closes

I did everything, and now when i open the game with mods, cemu close itself without saying what's the problem and if i unistall the mod the game work with no problem any way to fix this ?
the same when i launch the game with a mod it crash
Hello! Thank you for this video. I had used it earlier last year on my older computer and everything worked fine. I just recently built a new pc, so I'm reinstalling everything. When I go to install Python, it 1. doesn't say that it's working properly until I download it off the Microsoft Store, and 2. does not install any of the folders as urs does (specifically the Scrips folder). I have scavenged the internet with this issue and no one else seems to have it, do you know why this may be happening?
When you install Python there is an option to “add Python to path” and that will fix 1. You can just create the scripts folder manually
