    I don’t get how there is so many of y’all going on here complaining about Bruce selling unfinished projects or that he’s not a real trucker. First of all he does this because he enjoys it and it’s for our entertainment. Last time I checked Bruce buys all these projects with his money not ours. Yeah when you watch his videos you are in a sense paying him but youtube is free entertainment... sounds like a good deal to me. If you don’t think there are people out there that like semis and just the overall appeal of owning and hauling loads for fun then your just naive. You don’t have to be a know it all hard core trucker to want do these things or actually learn them. And remember Bruce went through CDL school so pretty sure he’s qualified enough to be doing anything an OTR trucker does. You never learn anything until you get out there and try it for yourself. So all the haters can go fuck themselves because if you wanna keep watching then you’re only supporting someone who you don’t wanna actually support.

      It is entertainment however entering the trucking world you are asking for this backlash as it is people who deeply care about what they do and dont mind sharing tips and information. It is also easy to feel offended by someone telling you or anyone else how it should be done out of respect for the driving culture. Believe it or not the trucking world is filled with people on both sides and some of us would rather the lifestyle not be dumped into the shit like it used to be (given a bad wrap for lot lizards and being stinky) also a stigma of "wannabes endangering the lives of four wheelers" so when a OTR employee gives a helpful tip like keep the mudflaps off the ground its because he or she basically lives out of their trucks. Its home its entertainment its business its everything because not all of us can go home everyday. It gets personal is what i mean. Why post if you dont expect a response or even someone wanting to help. It is some dumb shit posted on every one of his vids and more than half of those people never even sat in a tractor but its also alot more help than most of us has had. I have never posted anything that wasnt helpful.. wanna be sensitive on how someone talks to you tough shit. Not my money so it dont matter what he does as long as he doesnt make us look bad... get it?

    • @twiztid1fiddy
      @twiztid1fiddy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not saying that he fits any stigma. He is learning along the way. Some people dont take that into consideration or simply show up to the channel late. Dont believe it is dickheads in the industry then just turn your radio on sometimes and listen. Anyway keep the shiny side up i'm gone!

      Bruce sold out on all of his subscribers that came around the time of the White international cabover if he truly is buying a peter built. He sold out so he could buy himself a truck and blew his second chance after failing on the White cabover. If he would’ve just said “I am doubtful about finishing the Air Force cabover due to my inexperience re-building semi-trucks” then I would’nt even be making this comment now because he disclosed that he doesn’t actually know how to fix cabovers, but he led us on and got us to keep watching and making him money like you said then once he gets enough money to buy a nice truck, he pulls the rug out and sells.

    yes axles on box trailers also slide very handy when switching from OTR to in town doing deliveries, especially where in town state routes are two lane in a compact cute lil town. that's why interstates by pass them.

  • @Iamsmallfry
    @Iamsmallfry 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Just a word to the wise, when hooking a trailer, you should back under it, but stop before it latches, get out and lift the landing gear off the ground so when you do back into the pin, there’s no light between the 5th wheel and the deck plate. Knock on wood, I’ve never high hooked, but I’ve seen it done many times in 24 years out here. My rule for me is alway get out and make sure I don’t see daylight between the two, especially if when backing under, it doesn’t lift the trailer off the ground a tiny bit. Then, even after my tug test, I always get out and and visually check that the jaws are locked around the pin, and the release handle is completely retracted. It doesn’t hurt to over inspect, but that one time you don’t might be the time you lose your trailer.

    • @john7414
      @john7414 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He's a big rigger LOL he never learns anything he just missed high hooking that one .fifth wheel should lift the trailer then you know it's right lower the legs before you back under get out and look

      I learned that lesson moving trailers around a yard as a teenager. Too impatient to get out and adjust every single time. Fortunately when it came unhooked I was going all of 5mph and I stopped and caught it on the frame. Yeah I never did that again!!

    • @jbcunningham78
      @jbcunningham78 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That first hook definitely wasn’t good I thought about it the hole time I saw that trailer move. I run very heavy in Massachusetts you definitely need to check everything. A third check doesn’t hurt anything

    • @Iamsmallfry
      @Iamsmallfry 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jbcunningham78 yeah. That’s one of things I’m OCD about. I climb underneath and check the jaw two times on my walk around, and at least another time after just to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. If I don’t, I’ll drive myself nuts going down the road. I’m the same way with checking the locking pins on the tandems after I slide them.

    Since it's aluminum be sure and check for broke welds. On many of these to trailers when you apply the parking brake the air bags deflate to make loading and unloading easier. Be very careful with the alumibrite.

    These trailers the leveling valve has. A tendency to flip in the wrong direction when sliding the rear axle. The controls for that are in a box on left side. Both switches pointing up are rear axle brake lock. And axle pin unlocked.

    At 9:01 the red air line is running into a governor/safety block. Probably got the name wrong but anyways it will usually pressurize the tank to 90psi before that valve opens and sends the air to the bags, maybe that's also another thing you should change while your at it. I've had to change two on our grain trailers.

    If Bruce buys the equipment. Bruce can do with it whatever he wants. He doesn't have to justify his decisions to watchers. When it comes to big equipment you have to find what fits your needs, if you have to go through some incarnations to find the right combo, so be it. Haters always going to hate.

    Id say that line being loose is why you dont have air to the tanks? Once you get air back there, if the bags still dont air up, check the leveler valve. The rod may be off or the valve may be bad?

    It's a rear sliding axle trailer. It's a must in Florida, California and a few of the new England states like Connecticut.
    Get in touch with the Florida dmv and get yourself a annual bridge law permit if you plan on running that trailer in the 10'2" spread position.
    Also anytime you load anything heavy on or off the rear of the trailer,put it in the spread position, and put blocks under bumper on the main beams.

    Helpful tip. That is not a California spread. That trailer is only legal in California with the axles in the closed tandem position. With the axles opened up in the spread which allows 40,000 pounds on the axle group instead of 34,000 pounds when closed. California has a 40ft kingpin law so for the spread to be a California spread the rear axle would be fixed like eight feet from back with the front axle then being 10ft in front of rear axle. Also don't chain to the stack pockets on a Reitnouer you will crush them a they aren't welded. Chain around the double spools.

    Sweet! Once you get it fixed you can run it to the truck wash in Wildwood every few days for a couple of weeks and have them acid wash it. It will slowly remove all that oxidation. The bad thing about that would be if the acid wash gets on the rims and toolboxes after they're polished, it will mess them up by making them look white. Sweet trailer, can't wait to see it once it's finished getting cleaned and polished.
    Ps. Get some locks for those ramps so that they don't get stolen.

    Finally a real trailer! I would check out those rusted air tanks before i put any serious air pressure in them. They look like candidates for a nasty explosion with shrapnel. If you're not going to replace them I wouldn't be any where near them the first time you put pressure to them just in case they let go. You might take them to a place that tests welding tanks and see what they say. And if one of them blew at highway speed with a full load I wouldn't want to think what would happen if the air bags suddenly dropped pressure and the trailer brakes went full lock ouch!! Wouldn't want to failure test those on the interstate at speed!

    @patreed7966 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First check and make sure that the valves on the side of the trailer are in the ride position not in the dump position then check your air ride leveling valve it could have gone bad and the reason for the spread is if you spread it out you can put 40,000 on the trailer as long as you don't go over 80,000 gross but in the State of Florida if you have the axle spread you will need a Kingpin permit regardless of your weight and there should be some J hook plates with that trailer they hook in the grooves on the deck it would be a good idea to use those instead of your stake pockets and rub rail it's a rittenour they will break if you're going to use those you need a spool gun for your welder be careful at truck stops we used to have a fleet of those and I rookies would tear the back bumper off of all of them you back over a curb to get in a spot the air bleeds off and the rookies didn't let the trailer rise up before they pulled out and they would rip the ass out of the trailer

    Bruce, with that trailer you should consider installing a backup beeper. I know you go to shows with your mud truck and obviously, there's a lot of people walking around them. I've been in trucking since 1990 and let me tell you its worth doing it. People walk around with their heads up their asses not paying attention to there surroundings. I've had several people walk behind me while trying to back up. The beeper will at least help a bit, some people though, it won't they're fools beyond help who don't know better to walk behind a backing track.

    • @mikewood3528
      @mikewood3528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yep. I know a lot of guys new to a spread that want those axles as far forward as they can get them... “It’s easier to turn and back that way”... Then, they never learn how to handle it right and always end up hanging that tail. It is better to learn to drive “the hard way”. You can always slide ‘em later...after you know what you are doing.

      I was thinking the same thing when he said somebody was coming in to polish the wheels. Maybe someday he will learn that you do all the work on your equipment before you try making it pretty. The white International was a prime example. Look how much money he spent on Chrome and getting that guy to come polish all the wheels and gas tanks and everything. Then he Paints the cab to make it look all nice but then the rest of the truck is shit and he bails on the project and sells it for scrap basically
