Man I really wanna thank you and appreciate the way you’re teaching drummers to become professional and confident. The way you teach from slow motion to the actual beat makes a lot of difference while learning for a beginner drummer like me keep posting videos. You all are doing great job
#2 is one I've been getting wrong for 25 years. I'm going to try this tomorrow because I have a beat in my head that is a variant of number 2 and it never occurred to me to tap twice, sneak a left and then a single. It's the little things like this that I haven't learned or taught myself, that would make me a more complete drummer. Thank you.
ThanX alot for the tiP ! I am learning aLot from your videos because you take the time to break it down by playing it slow motion so it's much easier to learn ! Thanx man :D Rock on !
I've played these but always brought the left hand right over to the other side! I'll try with the more economical movement you show. Thanks, great lesson.
Nice lesson. You do a nice job of describing the techniques. The shots from behind the hi hat are a little dark and slightly difficult to see your left hand hitting the hi hat. If possible, it may improve the video of you could mount your camera over top of the hi hat and snare looking downward. That would make it easier to see your technique. Otherwise you have good communication skills and the video was helpful.
Gotta work on the second trick, perfect to develop the inverted paraddidle in a fun way!! It is always so great to see your vids, bro, God bless you and keep it up!
tricks...the one hand open and closed hi hat beat...sober by tool (verse) and Dr. Feelgood (intro/bridge) by Mötley Crue are actually quite easy to play with one arm on the open and closed hat beats. maybe you could expand on that and find a way to work in the other arm for a different effect...I can't think of how to add in an extra note that makes sense on the hats with those songs.
Shout out from the WINDY CITY THE LOVELY CHICAGO! THANK YOU FOR THIS MAN I've been looking for tutorials, and hoping they would explain it better but you have and have my prayers been answered. Bless you!! You doing gods work!! My drumming has improve a F...Bomb You go In dept on how it is and encourage them not to be frustrated.. Yes we all want to go dive in the deep end!! But baby steps first thank you and keep at it... P.S. screw the haters...you cant please everyone!!!
I do a trick that I'd love to see you utilize. You start by hitting the bottom hi-hat letting go and catching the opposite end after it hits the top, then add an open hi hat. The beat works well for swing or 6/8, and such timing.
Hello DRUM BEATS ONLINE, I love all your tutorials because it is so easy to understand. I have one request from you. Can you make a tutorial "HOW TO HIT THE RIDE CYMBAL properly? That is one of my problem as a worship drummer in our church. I am looking forward to hear from you soon. Thanks a lot and God bless. :-)
Using the hi hat pedal in grooves is where it's at! Be in on a strong back beat on the hats or in unison while on a ride pattern, makes any simple beat feel great, but much harder to play- worth practicing for sure!
Sounds really tight. I'm just starting on drums, and this was really helpful on many levels. I need to go back and check your other videos. Really nice work!
If you want to bigger drum set just get in the band and then wait for somebody to come over with their drum set in your band and then kick them out of the band and then you have a bigger drum set
Nice,, thank you........... I was a drummer in the late 60ies, life went on, job kids, etc, now I'm in my late 60ist and picked up right where I left off, It's amazing the muscle memory your body has, like riding a bike. Anyway, you taught me a new thang on high hat, sounds bitchin' dude. thanks for not boring me to death explaining it away. You are a very good drummer. Love pounding on stuff.
Even though the 3rd trick is the hardest you still make it look so easy. lol It's definitely going to take me a few times watching it to get it down but I think i can get this. Another great lesson Thanks for your help :) -T
thanks for this video man, I'm french but I understand everything you say, it's very clear ! and of course the video was really intersting, for ideas I nerver had in my short carrer of drummer ☺
I'm glad that you touched upon incorporating the hi hat foot. It is mostly forgotten. Jason McGerr (Death Cab for Cutie) has a mean hi hat foot technique.
