    It is used in reaction turbine because at the oulet of the turbine pressure is lower than atmospheric pressure.

    could you please tell me how the pressure remains the same(atmospheric pressure) in pelton turbine operation.

      Pelton wheel is impluse turhine.so only kinetic energy of water is used.and
      Casing of the pelton wheel has a no any hydraulic function.
      Casing is open from bottom so pressure in the turbine is atmospheric pressure.

    I have a doubt plz 🙏 help me. High ke means high velocity ,means high force then pressure is f/a since area is small @inlet of draft tube is there high pressure also similarly @outlet low pressure but by Bernoulli principle fast flowing fluid creates low pressure why this differs?

      F/A is for static pressure. You need use Bernoulli's equation for flowing fluid

    What would be the efficiency of a straight tube against a conical tube ? I have a 60cm straight pipe for draft. The total head is only 3 meters. Does it make sense in my case to use a conical draft tube insteadt of straight (pico hydro ~200w) ?

      Listen at the outlet of turbine there is low pressure water and at a tail race water having pressure above atmospheric pressure ...so because of these two pressure difference water will start flowing from tail race to the turbine to avoid such a condition we are using draft tube

      There is possibility of flow from tail race if acc to Bernoulli if T.E at tail race is greater that at outlet

      As the velocity increases the presuure start decreasing and also we know that inlet pressure due to turbine is much higher than pressure at outlet
