    With ozone being hard on certain plastics, do you have any concern for the storage tank ? I ask as I would like to use ozone in two HDPE reservoirs that I circulate a fertilizer solution back to. An excellent video, I learned more in 15 minutes than the hours and days of looking at other videos.

    I've been looking for a video exactly like this one. This has answered many questions for me. I'm in Mendocino County so the conditions here (redwood forest) are similar to yours. I'm wondering if the current restrictions on ozone generators in California are going to be a problem. I'm wondering if there might be much risk if I source these components from another state? Thanks for the video !!!

    In this case, using O3 to remove iron from well water, the pH value need to be adjusted like when use resines... or in this case the pH value is not important to make work the O3 ???

    I have a question concerning your system if you don’t mind…I had a 160 ft water well drilled and the water is terribly high in iron and manganese and coliform…I was thinking about a 250 gallon water storage tank to start the process since very little water is used…my question is…can I just use aeration at the top of the tank to turn the iron bacteria to a ferric state or do I have to use the ozone process? Once the ferrous iron and manganese turn ferric and sink to the bottum…I can then pump out the water from center of tank to then run thru filters and UV?

    Alex,
    A Venturi creates suction that pulls the ozone gas from the module mixing w water supply. You mentioned that your “manifold” is acting as your ozone output; however, it doesn’t appear to be connected to the ozone cells. Can you explain to me how you are connecting your air supply to the ozone output?

      Not entirely sure but my understanding is he eliminates the venturi in favor of the pump.

    I have a treatment system that starts with carbon and sand filter then a precision filter then RO then ozone and ozone mixing tank then UV then ss water tank ready for drinking , after the RO we make a line that let pass for some mineral water that doesn’t pass through RO so that we can get mineral water so that we get a water about 100 TDS to get a good taste water , the problem is after we ozonate the water there is no iron in water around 0.006 only but the water once ozonated is getting yellow color before ozone no yellow color how can we solve this problem?! If we installed a softener will the problem will be solved but the water will have sodium which is not good for water drinking?! What do you suggest ?!

    Hi,
    I also live in the Santa Cruz mountains, so I suppose I should start by saying "Hi Neighbor".
    I am wondering why you can't use the water flow from the well pump that fills your big tank to make use of the venturi effect built into the ozone makers? In fact you could tie the power for the well pump to the ozone makers so that they only run when water is moving through thier venturi manifold.
    Also, can you tell us where you bought those filters from?

    Be careful with with corona discharge units when supplying ambient-fed air, it should be pure oxygen. The problem with using ambient-fed air is that the nitrogen reaction produces nitrogen dioxide, nitrous oxide and nitrogen sulfate. These gases create a salt that, in time, will deteriorate the plasma field’s ability to produce ozone, not to mention are extremely unhealthy in drinking water if not filtered out

    • @CatboyChemicalSociety

    Has anyone had any problems with the ozone modules burning out?

    • @michaelbeam9364
      @michaelbeam9364 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I installed this system in July and 3 of the modules burned up after about 5 months. I know these don't last forever, but 5 months seems short. After they burned up the other modules were still producing ozone but it was leaking out through the melted modules, which oxidized everything in the box. I am also in the Santa Cruz Mountains, so I am wondering if this is a result of power surges before/after all the power outages this past year. Has anyone had similar issues?

      did you ever figure this out?

    • @norbertegi4258
      @norbertegi4258 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not yet, was thinking to try with 12V DC first, if it doesn’t do much then try 110V AC, which hopefully won’t burn it down. Looks like this ozone module isn’t in production anymore, but you can buy them from places that still have them in stock, but because of that there is no technical support available and couldn’t find technical info on its power requirements either.

    • @JimMutter
      @JimMutter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@norbertegi4258 In a moment of clarity I realized that Corona Discharge requires 20k+ volts. I imagine then that you'll need some sort of transformer for the power supply.

    • @norbertegi4258
      @norbertegi4258 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jim Mutter I think it’s going to be 110V. That black cube is the power supply that generates the high voltage on the white wires. Check the attached photo on the review page of this product which uses the same module and requires either 110V or 220V. (The APG modules can work on either voltages.) Inside the box the wires go directly to the black box:

    Great video Alex. Our water softener has finally died and looking at installing an ozonation system. Really like your DIY episode. I have a few questions: 1) Does the ozonator (and pond pump) run continuously? 2) Could you have had the ozonator in-line on the tank fill line? I.e.: used the venturis on the ozone generators and have the ozone injected as the tank fills, thereby only having the ozonator running while the tank fills? 3) Do you have figures on the quantity of iron and manganese before and after treatment? I ask because we have very high levels of both. BTW, we are also in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Howdy neighbor. :) Thanks!

    • @TheMountainGarden
      @TheMountainGarden  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it runs all teh time. You could use the venturi style but you get less interaction time vs a tank and diffuser.

      Half of the ozone (O3) in the water will decompose into oxygen (O2) in about 30 minutes. In that 30 minutes the ozone is disinfecting the water. Ozone is bad for your fish. Oxygen is good for the fish.
