      @John McGee Could you explain what all is wrong? I think it would benefit SWS and the viewers.
      I'm not sure the pex will swell 2.5 inches like he says, bu the rest seems pretty straightforward.

    Recently had a similar system installed at my grandparents house and I really liked the layout the installer used. Similar situation with the existing pipe in the corner. He mounted the filters on the run away from the existing pipe, then used the UV filter to rise the level and go back. This totally eliminated the need for any 90° in the system and made for a very compact installation. Two Ts to branch of and otherwise straight connections.

    Good morning, a suggestion for the manufacturer is as follows, in the passage of the UV lamp the wiring runs along the water, it may be better because there is no good system in all filtration and the wiring following the internal flow, if the wiring is non-toxic disregard , an excellent development in filtration, Top.

    Without any doubt at all, Sean is great to work with and really went above and beyond to provide all needs ensure top quality. He also kept us well informed along the way about timing and next steps. It was a pleasure working with him and I would highly recommend him. The water filter is just awesome!! It saves me time I used to spend standing up by the refrigerator to full the coffee maker container of water. No more! Now I have a iSpring Water Systems attached to the sink, in my house and in the basement for cooking and drinking. so fast and so easy. I have a single filter with a carbon and sediment cartridge for drinking... municipal water system. I find the 0 ring blue vessel HATES to come off after its been in place for months. That issue is present even after pressure release. I have resorted to using piie dope on the threads. It is SOME easier this way. I like the brass cleanable pre filter... going to add that. Nice install. I'd number or label those filter housings. I'm an old DIY plumber whose had Reverse Osmosis Filter Systems for almost 40 years. If you asked me which filter goes where.... I might get it right. But mostly what I've done is just replace the one that's in each housing with the one like it. So if I got them out of order once.... it'll probably be that way until I go look it up on the internet. Might be out of order for years. I like that 'spin' filter, great concept.

    Can't stand when plumbers install entire assemblies of plumbing fittings, pipes, and shutoff valves unsupported. It puts stress on the sharkbite fittings and those crimp on connections. Add some blocking to the wall and secure it properly. The main on my house was installed with a water meter, shutoff, PRV, installed completely unsupported. Amazing how it passed local inspection.

      Reuben Garcia: But the Shark Bite website says their o-rings are made of EPDM rubber, which I know to be invulnerable. It's used for tough roof membranes and I used a weatherstripping bead made of it on an old house; that weatherstripping never got dry or rigid through about eighteen years of winters & summers. It was always springy. I trust the Shark Bite fitting I installed behind my freezeproof hose bibb.

    I installed almost the same system but I added an electronic water descaler. It's kind of interesting how you decided that you have a better system for fastening the crimp rings than the engineers who designed Pex. They say you should use one ring only, and place it back about an eighth of an inch from the end of the tube. And you should crimp it once only. They even provide a handy go/no-go gauge with your crimper so you can make sure the rings are secure. Your way might be almost as good.

    • @Rick-the-Swift
      @Rick-the-Swift ปีที่แล้ว +4

      His way is better. Have you considered WHY Pex only says to use one ring and one crimp? I'll give you a minute to think about it.
      Because if they recommended two rings and two crimps, their product would be less marketable, and customers would be beaching and moaning about the extra time and expense. However professional plumbers who do enough of this kind of work often see those joints as the first point of failure. Having backup rings, and double checking your crimp only makes good sense.

    • @BobZed
      @BobZed ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Rick-the-Swift When products like this are designed (by real engineers with college degrees and everything) they designed it from the ground up for the best, most durable option . They don't care if it takes you slightly longer. It just needs to last longer. One ring leaves a cuff of PEX on the joint side that makes it harder to pull thru the ring. And since the inside of the rings are smooth while the barb is not, an extra ring gets you nothing. I've installed PEX for years, and it so much easier and faster that copper or galvanized pipe that no real plumber would gripe if he or she had to install five rings. Buy the rings in bags of 100. They cost almost nothing. If you're estimating a job there's really no point in adding the cost of the rings. Years later, nothing has moved with "only one" ring even with water pressure that is higher than it should be. It's also quicker to install than PVC or CPVC unless you go for the really expensive push fittings.
      It is interesting to see idiots try to outsmart the pros because they don't understand how the system works.

    Very nice. I would like to note that the specs call for a 1/8 to 1/4 gap between the ring and the fitting, so this could fail an inspection. Also, red PEX denotes hot water. Blue or white is best. PEX and filter should have been 1" if the rest of the pipe is that. Spin down filter is on backwards.

    It's been shown in multiple tests that these filters remove sediment, tastes and odors, and minerals. The minerals removed do not soften water which is one of their big claims. The cost north of $1000 and you have a constant filter replacement built in for the life of the unit. A simple whole house two filter, sediment and taste and odor will do the same for about $150.

    • @lisab3396
      @lisab3396 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, The little Silfos (Phosphate) pre-filter is supposed to tie up the minerals and thus in theory to soften the water. In fact it only adds the phosphate to bind up the minerals which stay in the water and "doesn't" soften the water.
      The Calcium and Magnesium bonding/binding with phosphate "may" be filtered out through the 3 stage filtration. However, I doubt it. It "may" just end up shortening the life of the filter cartridges due to early plugging. In which case the house owner "may" be replacing cartridges more often than expected.

    Nicely done. A couple of recommendations - (1) try to avoid the hard right angles in your pex fittings - these can cause significant pressure drops. Better to have long sweeps; (2) - try to stay all 1" until you get out of the filters - better for flow; (3) add some ball valves, boiler drains and pressure gauges to control and measure your water flow.

    I’ve heard that every elbow you install will reduce your pressure by around 2psi each. And then the 3/4 fittings are more like 1/2 with those fittings, with all of the elbows and the 3/4” adapters how is the final psi coming out after the entire system? Well water is 50-60psi max before all of the filtration that also reduces psi. I am about to install this system and I am wanting the max water pressure I can get. also what about the system bypass for keeping water running when servicing the system or in case of a system failure?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm a plumber but not a water filtration specialist. I was thinking to install the spindown filter , then the 3 stage filter , before the well tank the still use the single stage after everything just because it's already there. anyhow again all help is greatly appreciated. Just ignore all the nitpicky comments . I totally understand this is just a basic installation video. Armchair plumbers lol

      Hi there. the filters, including spin down filters, should be installed after or downstream of the pressure tank. This is done so that if a filter clogs then it will not damage the pump.

    • @CS-rn7mn
      @CS-rn7mn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Bruce McGee,
      Adding the pressure gauges is a preference when the system is installed. The pressure gauges are a useful tool to see the incoming and outgoing psi (water pressure) in and out of the system. This can be used as a tool to see when the filters may be due to be changed.
      Thank you,
      iSpring Water Systems LLC

    • @supertokinwhiteguy
      @supertokinwhiteguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bruce McGee A pressure gauge is necessary for pump switch operation and setting. For filtration, the only time pressure gauges would be useful is during operation of the system to note the pressure drop across the filters. When you notice a significant operating pressure drop it’s a notification to change your filters. There will always be pressure drop across any water system from beginning to end, but it gets more significant as the flow is restricted.

    Would it be a good idea to install a water softener after the filters before the UV light?

    • @iSpringWaterSystems
      @iSpringWaterSystems  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nicolas! Thank you for your question. You can install a water softener after the filters. In that case, the sodium added by the water softener will remain in your water. If you install the softener before the filters, the system will reduce the sodium added from the water softener. Either way is okay depending on your preference. If you have further questions, please contact us at (678)261-7611. We are always happy to help!

    I am doing this exact same setup (3/4-in PEX). What is the white colored plastic fitting he is taping at 2:40? I was able to find the 3/4-in PEX Crimp x 1-in MNPT Brass Male Adapter. Wouldn't that work by itself to attach the filter to my 3/4-in PEX?

      The video was made by an iSpring customer and he decided to use an additional adapter here. The direct 3/4" Pex x 1" adapter is preferred and make sure that you use plenty of teflon tape. I used exactly 4 wraps of 15" of Blue Monster teflon tape on the fitting in the picture.

    How do I solve the immense pressure drop after the system? is there a booster pump i can install after the fact?

    • @iSpringWaterSystems
      @iSpringWaterSystems  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi dear customer! If water pressure drops immediately after installation of a WGB series system, please take into account that bathtubs, utility sinks, hose bibs, multi-headed showers, body sprayers, or anything that is considered high-flow should be avoided for the first 72 hours. Any high-flow situation within the first 72 hours may cause a temporary carbon blockage.
      -To clear the blockage, turn off any running water for at least 10 minutes and resume using water at low or normal flow rates.
      -Allow the water to run until the air and carbon has been purged. Water may be cloudy initially as the filters and the system clear of trapped air. New activated carbon filter cartridges may contain loose carbon and air bubbles after the installation/replacement.
      If this is not the case, please kindly contact us at support@123filter.com, at (678) 261-7611 M-F 8:30-5:30 EST, or at (470) 560-0012 M-F 8:30-5:30 EST (Messaging only) to properly guide you.

      I DO have a question... Seattle's water is actually very good... 29 ppm... My house is 70 years old and the pipes are original... Lately the hot water side has slowed down so I'm going to take care of that and add one of these set ups I see above... Here's the question... Two products promise to revitalize your water... Something about clusters of molecules, blah blah... One is the Home edge... Basically, sets of propellers just to churn up the water... And the other is an electronic system that uses EM frequencies to alter some ionic blah blah... Are either actually worth anything?

    • @iSpringWaterSystems
      @iSpringWaterSystems  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vincent. Thanks for reaching out! Here are the answers to your questions.
      1) The products in the video are whole house water systems. Although you can drink out of your faucet after this filtration, we recommend installing a reverse osmosis system (like this one: www.amazon.com/iSpring-RCC7AK-Capacity-Drinking-Remineralization/dp/B005LJ8EXU) for safer drinking water.
      2) You can filter as much water as you want per day. However, the filters' lifespan is up to 100k gallons of water (depending on your water quality). That means the more water you filter per day, or the worse your water quality is, the more frequently you need to change your filters.
      3) The filters should be stored indoors or under shelter to avoid direct sunlight and freezing temperatures.
      If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us at 678-261-7611 (M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 EST) or email us at support@123filter.com. We are happy to help.
