I was there, 45 years to the day. Came up from Rhode Island no ticket and bought a scalped ticket for 15 dollars..10 dollars over face value. Third tier directly above and over home plate. Best seat I've ever sat in at any event I've attended. God blessed me that day 45 years ago...Saturday, Sept 30th,1978.
I remember watching this game live on television. Back then, a child simply perceived who was a great pitcher, who was a great hitter, who was a great fielder, or who was a great quarterback, who was a great running back, who was a great linebacker, or who was a great songwriter, who was a great singer, who was a great guitarist, etc. And that same child did not perceive anything superficial.
Being born east of Cleveland it was hard being an Indian fan back then but I always thought you should be loyal to the home team..Thornton & Bell are the only 2 big league hitters in their line up & neither is in the great category except for a few years each that you could say were damn good like 78. I had more fun watching the Red Sox or Yankees play Or just great individuals from back then but I always said the Indians were my team. I just got use to not expecting much.
Way to go Figgie! I love the '78 Yanks!!!

I was there!! My first Yankee game ever
I remember watching this game live! It was very happy for him!
I was at the game with my late father & was Fan Appreciation Day with a free mug.
Ed Figueroa remember him and this game. First Puerto Rican born to win 20 games
Vietnam vet who saw combat!
Eddie’s career brevity can be attributed to his pitching motion. If you read his SABR bio, it’s explained.
1978 Figueroa amazing, 1978 Yankees were an incredible team.😊
That was the year they had to play Biston in that famous Bucky Freaking Dent game
