Road Trip America EP:4 - Unexpected Breakdown in Colorado

  • After Moab I made my way south into Colorado to ride the Million Dollar Highway. No one really knows how this 25 mile stretch of road between Silverton and Ouray came to be known as the Million Dollar Highway but it is regarded as one of the most spectacular roads in America.
    Unfortunately for me the weather wasn't great and Highway 550 didn't turn out to be the million dollar experience that I was hoping for.
    I continued on my way through Colorado with plans to ride over the Owl Creek Pass and make my way to the small town of Gunnison, but my plans were derailed as I kept hearing a strange rattle coming from my bike.
    I gingerly continued to ride wondering how I was going to fix my bike when an unlikely solution presented itself in the form of a stranger walking along the side of the road.

    I must say that your video title "CB500X broke down " got my attention . 🙂I am on my second CB500X and after watching so many videos and riding one for so long I immediately realized that I never ever seen these 2 words together CB500X and Brokedown . I'm glad it was only from an add-on accessory and I'm not surprised it wasn't anything to do with the reliable bike itself . Enjoy your trip !

      I did have intermittent gearbox issues on this trip but other than that the bike was good.

    Put some dry plants under the back frame. This will help you get out of the mud

    These videos are so well done. A team of producers, writers and editors with a decent budget and production crew couldn't do a better job.

      Thanks for watching. How do you like the 401? I've been wanting to buy one to use as a city bike.

      @@AnthonyJoh Its a fun bike if you ask me. But I put mine into a little bit more work. I did a trip to see North Cascade park and broke it that day . heck i would do it again with my favorite bike if you ask me. its always part of the adventure. Hope you would enjoy yours if you get one.

    Amazing how quick the weather changes. You got a little of it all. The dirt road and black canyon views were awesome. Glad you could get the bike fixed. Looked like the crash bars share the motor mount bolt. That is def one you want to be there.

      I was really surprised at the weather changes in Colorado. It's not in the video but at one point it was hailing and yet the sky was clear! 🤨

    You suckered me in with the title! Well, actually I was going to watch it any way since I've really been enjoying this series. But that definitely had me curious even though I assumed it was an aftermarket part failure.
    Anyway, I love your enthusiasm. Keep it up!

    Did the bolt shear off or did the crash bar's "hole" get too big that it slipped off the engine bolt?

    • @AnthonyJoh
      @AnthonyJoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bolt sheared off. I suspect that happened in Oregon because I've never dropped the bike hard enough to do that kind of damage.
