You were to close to the Autobahn II Landing Site, you need to be at least 250M away from any established POI to place an outpost beacon. Your own ship landing site was close enough that you probably didn't need the outpost.
If you approach from farther away with an outpost beacon out, you will get a message that the area is restricted. If you try to put out the beacon when you are already too close, you get no message.
That is the smuggler ship. For my play through at NG12 now it has always been the Vista 3 Freestar. Better to do without a companion. But I always choose the dialogue where they start shooting at you. Kill the crew, always 5, go to another planet. Use your scanner to identify where it is landing zone and take the ship.
A couple things I’d like to share… The same thing happened to me at Serpentis II-A, but with three Vista III ships (one Freestar and two UC). I always kill the captain and then eliminate the crew, just so I can get their weapons. 😆 (Fair warning, I don’t travel with a companion when I do this, so I don’t know if it would piss any of them off. I mean, Sarah would obviously run like her hair was on fire, but Betty Howser seems down for anything! The rest, I have no idea.) Also, before I enter the ship I save the game and set the difficulty to Very Hard. You can lower the difficulty once you’re inside if you want to, your choice. But raising the difficulty to very hard before going through the black Load screen potentially raises the rarity of any loot you find behind that door. If the captain gives you an item that you don’t like, just reload the Save game from before you entered the ship, and the computer will re-roll all the items inside. That includes any chests you find, loot on the crewmembers, but most importantly the “special” goodie the captain has. I specifically was hoping for a boost pack with Chameleon, and was lucky enough to get Pocketed Chameleon suit once, so double-win!
To be clear, re-rolling the items happens when you go through the black load screen. So if the difficulty is set to very hard before you enter, that’s when it determines what the items will be inside the ship, and if you change the difficulty at any time after that it won’t adversely affect the quality of the loot.
Ill have to check this out if I can ever get any ships to land after the last update. Thanks for the tip! Yeah Sarah gets so mad every time I do anything but she cant leave because I haven't finished the main quest yet. She's pretty much my hostage 😂
250 meters from any local spot…myself I always have a fiber and sealant on me…run low on bonus xp time set up a temporary outpost put a sleeping bag down… sleep for an hour…delete the outpost and be on my way ✌️
Too close to the ship or the conditions on the planet were more extreme than the skill level that allows you to set up outposts in hostile environments.
Good to know there's a legit-ish way to steal those ships! I ran into a few, gave up and used a console command to steal the ship, then due to the really annoying layout, immediately sold it off to Deimos (crew and all, lol).
@circuitscore I'm starting a new character that is a UC Vanguard and was wondering what is the best UC Vanguard ship all around to get my hands on? I'm looking for a ship that is strong, fast, maneuvers quite well, has great weapons and is a great ship to have when starting out. That only gets better when going from class A all the way up to the top class.
I would go with the Longsword. Its a class A ship but it can be easily upgraded. Its a good ship to start out with but you might want to switch to a Dragonfire later in the game. At least that's what I would do if I were doing a Vanguard character build.
Yes if you want to steal a Class C Ship which the Freestar ships typically are. It's pretty quick to level up. Check out my other video Early XP Farm with Your Ship. You will level up piloting in no time.
Hey so the lastest massive update overhaul just dropped last night. Ever since then I also can not get any ships to land as my ship keeps landing too close to a random POI. I think they increased the number of POIs as well as made them spawn closer however that seems to be really messing with ships landing. I am going to investigate this issue further tonight and possibly drop a video about it based on my findings.
@@circuitscore Just tried with a lvl8 character, landed five times, the only ship that arrived is an Ecliptic Bayonet. The character that got those class C ships is lvl 99 and NG+ 5 or 6. Are you doing NG+? Could this be an NG+ thing?
I haven't started ng+, but I managed to get a starborn guardian iv. Do we know if it was added in a patch? Cuz I thought we couldn't enter a starborn ship till ng+. Maybe it's a glitch?
@ 2:56 "Shut up Sarah." I'm so glad I'm not the only one 😂
You are def not alone. The Shut Up Sarah fan club is gaining new members everyday 😂

Got it! That makes sense. I for the life of me couldnt figure out what was going on. Thought it was a glitch.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few of them, but more often in orbit for some reason
That's a good idea too! Yeah I knew you could take them out as well just figured this method was a bit easier to achieve.
I forgot to tell you that you earned my sub take care guy and keep on keepin on ✌️
Thats what I like to hear! Appreciate it.
Can't setup an outpost within a certain distance from POIs. Exception is your ship landing POI.
That makes sense. Probably good they put those restrictions in place.

I didn't realize it was 250 meters. Good to know for future. That is a solid idea for that bonus XP!
Too close to the ship or the conditions on the planet were more extreme than the skill level that allows you to set up outposts in hostile environments.
It was Mercury which isn't a harsh environment so I must have been too close to the Autobahn.
Thanks for the tip. I ran across this scenario the other day and wondered why I couldn't steal the ship, even after I killed the captain.
No problem! Yeah I honestly have no idea why traveling to a different planet and back is necessary but it works! Thanks for watching.
Good to know there's a legit-ish way to steal those ships! I ran into a few, gave up and used a console command to steal the ship, then due to the really annoying layout, immediately sold it off to Deimos (crew and all, lol).
I will admit the Autobahn's do have a pretty annoying layout with the ladders. I think my favorite is the Claymore.

You laugh at the same silly stuff I do. If you want to hear cheesy dialog, marry Sarah.
Haha gotta have fun with it! I might have to do that. Will she get more sassy if I marry her? 🤣
If you save before you talk to the captain you can reload if the item is no good. easy legendary farm.
That's a great idea!
Nice!
Do I need the pilot perk?
Yes if you want to steal a Class C Ship which the Freestar ships typically are. It's pretty quick to level up. Check out my other video Early XP Farm with Your Ship. You will level up piloting in no time.
@@circuitscore ok thank you so much! Most content creators wouldn’t respond nearly as quickly as you! I appreciate it!
I try to respond to everyone as fast as I can keep up haha and no problem happy to help!
I cant get anyhting to land. Do I need to be a certain level? Have a specific miasion active?

Did this just now, got an Freestar Autobahn 111. 😁😁 Then a Crimson Fleet Wraith 111 😁😁
Nice! Both of those are solid ships!

@@gkw9882I am level 77. Have not done NG+ yet on this save. I wonder if ship tiers scale with the players level. Or we just got lucky haha.
@@circuitscore They do scale with the player.
Tried this again after another NG+. Got a Varuun Prophecy 111 on Oborum 11A, got nothing on Mercury.
Mercury is an extreme planet. Without planetary habitation, you can't place an outpost there.
I was able to set one closer to my ship though with the same planetary habitation level. 🤔
You can't be in another POIs radii.
Yeah I realized that later. Thanks!
That's because most people unfortunately no longer play Starfield.
While its true most of its player base has dropped off you would be surprised how many views my Starfield videos still get especially the older ones.
This is now broken and they don't land on there
..... They have broken this since update.....
Yeah its a bummer. Check out my latest video where I dive into this issue. I hope they fix it soon.
No point already have 10 better ships.
I mean yeah if you are level 65 plus there are better ships out there but this is a solid way to get a great class C ship early game or NG+
I haven't started ng+, but I managed to get a starborn guardian iv. Do we know if it was added in a patch? Cuz I thought we couldn't enter a starborn ship till ng+. Maybe it's a glitch?
Most people dont care 😂
Perhaps 😂
