I dont think I've ever used the term "mentally refreshing" before but it's the only way I can express how this song makes me feel. I can never find new tracks with this kind of sound these days. A real gem amongst the cookie cutter popular releases I see so often.

So true. To be honest, Jon's work must be so hard to remix, well, not hard, however, hard to convey the same level of emotion. I think George Fitzgerald did this very well with his remix of Open Eye Signal, though. This Solomun effort has been hyped a little too much for my fancy. Emerald Rush just shouldn't be touched.
How do remixes work, does the remixer obtain stems and then remix, or can it be done by slicing up a stereo track and multitracking extra drums, pads etc?
Yes, usually the remixer gets the stems - synths, bass, drums etc. And then takes the track where ever direction he wishes. In this case, the original is so strong, it seems Solomun just added some more danceflor friendly drums for wider reach.
