    Nice job on the repair. When I did the same repair on my TSI I cheated and bought a new cylinder head with valves- but I could have save a few dollars if I had just done a valve job.

    Where did you source all the parts from? I’ve got the exact same car with the exact same motor in my workshop right now that i’m doing the same repair on 👌🏻Repco isn’t really any help for finding a VRS kit.

      @@fadybassili6259 I search genuine, eBay, VAGparts, Prestige Auto Parts, DAS Euro Parts, SparesBox etc for the best prices. Always go for OEM brands.

      @@fadybassili6259 oh also Precision International great prices and local (to Aus) in Melbourne. Don’t discount genuine, Norris group if you can get trade pricing.

    If the timing chain broke, would any of the con rods be bent?

      I think the possibility of that happening in the EA888 engine would be pretty unlikely. Even if valves broke off (and got compressed) I think the chance of bending a con rod would be unlikely. Although I’d be pretty concerned about balance shafts, oil pump, cams and related components.

      I modified a 17mm deep socket
