  • Hey there, Guinea Gang! We know that you guys absolutely love guinea pigs, and a lot of you are proud Guinea Parents. But we also know that there are some who are planning to welcome guinea pigs into their families, so here's a video to help beginner and soon-to-be guinea parents!
    In this video, GuineaDad talks about things that you should know before adopting guinea pigs, such as their diet, cage size, and how often they should be taken to the Vet for checkups. Oh and did you know that guinea pigs are social animals? That's why it's best to adopt two cavies at once. Watch the full video to learn more about our cute friends~
    P.S.
    Please try to adopt piggies from rescue centers instead of buying from pet stores. Adopt, don't shop!

    Good tipps! 👍
    Another one is:
    They are really small, so when they live at the floor, we look even more big to them.
    We had a very big cage, but nevertheless we brought him to our waist height with the help of tables. That helped our little girls, not to be so shy any longer. And it was also more comfortable for us, to clean the cage.

    Even if your boars don't bond, it's best to keep them in separate cages close to each other.

      Hes right tho. I got two boys. They do bicker. But i honestly do believe that they dont fight hard bc their cage is so huge. They bug each other, they tolerate each other, & sometimes they act like they like each other too. They seem to show concern for each other & sometimes i catch them sleeping close to each other like when they were younger. Sometimes i think they just grt to a point where theyre over getting mad at each other & think whatever. Thats just what he does. Hes just annoying. & Theyre not phased. Like theyre just used to each other. I had no clue what i got myself into when i first got them. I didnt know the compatibility rate for them was not as likely. They do show signs of independence. So, no. I dont feel to guilty getting them at separate times. I feel less guilty now, when i hafta carry on w/ my days w/ out them. But at least they have each others co. tho. I can only imagine what theyre like when it starts to thunder & im not there... 😅

    Thankyou so much for recommending that piggies are taken to the vet for a general health check. It is the only way to pick up things such as ovarian cysts in girls and kidney/bladder stones.

    The midwest cage was great for our first 2 piggies cause they were babies, and it works well for a quarantine cage but We found using it with a larger herd (i attached it to a C&C cage) it caused fights every time and the fights stopped soon as we disconnected it. But my piggies might just be weird it is great for 2 babies

    Yeah, i bought some dried strawberry flavored whatever those things were when i first got my whiskers & he wasnt feeling it. 💁🏻‍♀️ Sometimes i do get them assorted bags of food. & They do just pick out the yummy parts first. But i wont feed them again until theyre finished. This phase of their bag of food i got them eating now is mostly grass based. But 💁🏻‍♀️ no, i dont always feel bad spoiling them. I got them some honey wheat tunnel things for them through walmart. & Those things last forever. They still grind their teeth down on those things & they prob think its yummy too. I cant remember what i read but i think its supposed to be good for their teeth too 🤞 . I just know they use it way more than those little branchy looking sticks, those colorful building blocks, that colorful pointy ball. ,,, Basically, they like more organic edible things. &Mostly all their other tunnels are made out of cardboard.

    • @GuineaDad

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to Humane Society, it is minimum size for 2 guinea pigs. Recommended size is about 30% bigger. Generally, C&C is a good choice. I am currently using one from Offbeat Club that has pre-cut stuff and extras, but you can also make your own if you are handy.

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  3 ปีที่แล้ว
