The red hair that vegeta has during the first bit is actually because of the anime. For whatever reason they decided he had red hair because at that time in the manga vegeta wasn't shown in color yet. Once Toriyama found out about it he let them know his hair was black and by the time vegeta gets to earth it's back to the right color
I think it's supposed to be brown moreso than red. Funny thing is, for some promotional art they do give Vegeta very dark brown hair next to Goku having actual black hair. And I also believe non-super Vegeto has some brown going on in his hair.
@@galonski64 I've always been more upset by the armor color personally. The miscolored hair I can forgive - brown is close enough to black, but the alien-vomit circus looking armor is depressing. Especially since Nappa's armor looks normal. Who made that decision?
Make me thin of how one of the character from Initial D hair color just keep changing. I though it was a plot point that he was coloring his hairs, but no, it's just that there is no official hair color for the character
The fact NONE of you have seen DBZ Abriged is wonderful because we get to see your journey through it. This will be a long ride but a fun one none the less.
Abridged did a better job of dubbing DBZ than any of the real companies. They also did most of the movies, and the twists and in-jokes just build on themselves to be even funnier! ie: Krillian Owned Count, bw ha ha ha!!! and, "Is that a Space Duck?"
yeah theres a lot o jokes that can go over peoples heads as well as REALLY OLD meme jokes and words that people don't use any more. but once you get to season 2 it picks up really quickly.
Oh. I am so hyped for this. I love DBZA and followed it for years until it ended a couple years back. The first few episodes are pretty rough, but the quality just keeps improving and improving through out the whole thing. I hope you guys do the movies too, they are around the length of the multi-parters
4:30 "Maybe its like, various censored versions of the show" "That would be amazing dude" Well guess what? Amazing is here, because thats exactly what the joke was.
This series really starts to hit its strides later on in the series. By the time you're done with it (approx 66 episodes more + movies + specials + prologue to go) you'd have witnessed a masterpiece.
I've watched some of your stuff before, but with you starting to react to THIS show, you've officially gained yourself a new subscriber. This Abridged Series is BEYOND amazing. Season 1 is kinda rough, and Season 2 is where they start to really get their stride as writers and producers, but genuinely the tail end of Season 2 is where the series gets AMAZING. Genuinely BETTER than the original (in my humble opinion), and I was a die-hard DBZ fan-boy growing up.
Yes! This is one of the best if not THE best abridged version. It'll be very interesting to see your reaction on this especially since most of you have already seen the original
*PLEASE WATCH ALL OF THIS!!!* As a mild DBZ fan, I got to watch these as they came out, and honestly... by season 2, they become some of the *BEST* _writing, dialogue, puns,_ and even *_seriously dramatic_* shows in the past 2 decades. I put it up there with G.O.T. (minus the last season) Breaking Bad, etc. *!!! HOWEVER !!!* Please also watch them in release order, *INCLUDING* the movies. A mistake a lot of reactors make is skipping the movies or watching the movies out of order. The episodes and movies reference each other a lot. so you'll miss out on jokes pun, context, etc if you don't watch them in release order. For a lot of people, because of how true to OG story this stays, it's become their person *canonical* version of Dragon Ball. Anyway, so happy to see a cool group of new viewers to DBZA. Keep it up.
Just new here, I'm living for this series. Seeing people's first impressions with this show, and totally the first impression from someone who knows only the bare minimum? Glad to see you all have fun. This is lit!
Y'all in for a treat with this abridged series. Really hope you also include the movies and when the time comes, the parody for I'll make a man out of you. Should be after episode 6-7 for it to be most accurate within this time-line. Wish you all a Merry Christmas!
I just rewatched the series recently, what starts as a rough parody evolves into an actually phenomenally written and high quality series, I'm excited for this reaction series I've also never seen DBZ, but aside from a few easter eggs jokes, they do a REALLY good job of telling the story without you needing to
Believe it or not, this is actually like the fourth reaction to this I've seen from someone who hasn't watched the source material. So you're good. In fact, I find it even more entertaining that way. :P
DBZA is such a fun ride. I love that you're going to watch it and see how much better they get as the series progresses. And by that I mean both the series, and the quality of the mics and editing.
part of why the early episodes are so short, and why the first season finale was a 3-parter, is actually just because when the series started youtube still had a time limit on how long videos could be. But as they get farther into the series and more confident with their writing and editing, they end up releasing episodes that are basically just a full-length anime episode, but with more than 1 episode's worth of DBZ crammed into them
Honestly I consider DBZ abridge an almost unoffical but faithful adaptation of the story. It's different from other abridge series in the regard that its it is a legit way to experince Dragon balls story. You might miss some inside jokes but you'll understand the gist of it.
Watching this series is like watching Gohan grow up. By the end the writing, editing, acting, and overall quality rival (if not straight-out defeat) any official anime. They were just babies when they began, and they pushed themselves further than any of us could have dreamed. Bye, son.
New sub! You guys are going to have a blast with this. It's so awesome that some of you know the show and some don't, it makes for a really interesting watch for everyone. TFS not only does DBZ justice with this abridged, they even do some scenes better.
DBZA is def a series I "grew up with" on the internet, so this is really good to see The first season and second season can be a bit rough in places, particularly in regards to certain choices of words that the team themselves wouldn't wanna use today, but were considered funny back then 🤔 But still, I think there's a lot to love about the first season already, it was a very high quality fan parody for its time, and it just gets better as it goes on ^^
I feel sorry for Goku in this episode though because he’s grown up thinking he was human he got married and had a kid then one day this radom guy appears claiming to be his brother tells him that he’s an alien and that he wants them both to kill everyone and then sell the planet he’s lived on his whole life then when he says no his son gets taken that’s a lot to take in in one morning/afternoon
Just wanted to throw another "it gets better" onto the pile. The first two "seasons" (especially the first) are definitely products of their time but by season 3, they've got their comedic writing down to the point that the third season of DBZA is genuinely one of my favorite animated comedies of all time.
I think you could argue even for season 2. Season 3 still stands on top for sure, but there were plenty of good moments birthed from the TFS' Namek/Freeza (Frieza) saga. Even season 1 had its bits but it definitely hurts the most to sit back through (not to say that it's bad, it's just very rough due to its age and their amount of experience at the time).
as a fan of dbz, after having seen the abridged version I am unable to see the original again, for me it is far superior to dbz in all aspects, I hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to see your reaction to my favorite moments, greetings from Mexico
You all should watch the original Dragon Ball as well. I'd argue its a better time than all of Z, even if Z has more d the iconic stuff. OG Dragon Ball just has a charm to it that doesn't ever get replicated.
So surprised none of y'all have ever seen this You guys are in for one of the best rides the internet has ever known. And it'll be cool to see how a non DBZ fan reacts to it DBZA is forever timeless
As someone who watched TFS as they were making the episodes, I'm still stuck on the fact that DBZ fans have never before seen the abridged series by TFS. It's internet and generation defining! Looking forward for your ride!
i think one of the best thing About DBZA is that while they turn up the goofs and max the sliders on everyone personality you still get the story of DBZ
Please keep the dbza reactions coming this is THE benchmark for abidged series. This is by far the best one created by people who deeply love the original series.
the guys in production havent got a color sheme from supervisors so they just did it the way they wanted. thats why vegeta has brown hair and green armor in the episode.
I completely forgot that The guy who eventually does Vegeta's voice for this series started off doing Raditz' So it's just really jarring to hear what would eventually become Vegeta's voice coming out of him in the first episode of The Abridged cuz I haven't seen the first episode in forever
Fun Fact: TFS actually used for this arc only the really crummy quality 16:9 "Orange Brick" DVD footage until someone directed Scott Frerichs (KaiserNeko) to the 4:3 "Dragon Box" sets from Japan and there's a massive quality shift when you leave the Saiyan arc...
Season 1 and the first few episodes from season 2 are around 10 mins each due to how TH-cam was back in the day so I think it you gus could do 2 Episodes per video
OH HECK YEAH!!! Also, WOW, I forgot how amateur the first few episodes looked. The fact that the first episode is the LOWEST point of the show, says a lot about how far TeamFourStar has come.

What's funny is despite absolutely loving this series, I never watched anything officially DragonBall. Not Z, no the original show, not even that weird sequel where Vegeta had a mustache. To me this is what Dragon Ball truly is and I wouldn't have it any other way.
