    My favorite part about my home town! So many great memories. We used to ride down in metal tubs when the flood waters were white capping.

    I drove through flowing water just like that @ 2:20 . I was in my 4x4 Toyota Landcruiser, and thought it was safe. Anyway, I shifted to 4-Wheel drive, and slammed the gas and headed straight towards the stream. As soon as I hit the water, my truck almost came to a stop. I could literally feel the water moving my truck sideways, mind you my truck weighs 4500 lbs! Came so close to bogging down, and engine dying, but I made it across! Thank God 🙏

      Yeah, it’s never a good idea. I don’t recommend doing it as we do sometimes. Always better to turn around, don’t drown! Glad you made it through safely though.

      Be careful you can suck water into the engine intake as well and trash out the engine by going too fast.

      1982- 1998......."Desert dwellers rejoice it's the weekend on 96 Rock". Wish I would have never left. The smell of the desert after a good monsoon......like everything was washed clean. Gates Pass, backside of the Rincon's, Redington pass. "A" mountain catching on fire every year on fourth of July. I hear things have changed from old friends. I miss it so.

    I was a power lineman in Tucson for eight years years in the 1980s I worked every storm because I was a troubleman I loved my job were Storm Soldiers Lightning was very destructive to our electric distribution
    system Most of the residents of my remote area consider us linemen " Functional
    Maniacs " Somebody has to restore power !
    Do not EVER EVER approach downed power lines EVER !!

  • @mimiro912
    @mimiro912 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I can't help but wonder how much money Tucson makes yearly with the "Stupid Motorist Law" in place. When I first moved here (from southern Florida); I made the mistake of trying to cross one of these washes in a ford escort. I got about halfway through when I felt the back tires start to move; I floored it, and got across safely. Well, I can tell you for certain I never did that again.

  • @jc7052

      True. I will also add that every year thousands of motorists safely cross washes flowing across the road. More of a calculated risk than "plain stupid" in most cases. Haha

    Tucson keeps adding people and the sprawl of new suburban homes continues in the desert. What is wrong here? We all - everywhere - must get serious about urban planning.

    The title is misleading in that there is water in the streets but there are no houses being damaged and when the water recedes life is back to normal.

    • @stormrunnermedia
      @stormrunnermedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nowhere in the title does it say damage to homes. It states that there was flowing water through neighborhoods, which there was. Cars reportedly had water damage as well.

    piece of cake. Roads were built on purpose to funnel water. Grate system is newer. In 1983 the santa cruz,, rillito, and pantano were full to the rim. Imagine that . can't come into town, can't leave. Bridges were closed or lost. Speedway over santa cruz "crap creek" was open. I stood on it and every car that went over made the bridge sway and shake. Spooky

    Im going to copy a comment here that I left on a video about lake Mead in the US.
    It applies the same to this and most other bad weather events for the last 20+ years.
    Something even much more fascinating is why the people of this country and the whole world can't see that the LEADERS are causing all the crazy plasma/DEW's fires, droughts, floods and all manner of unnatural man-made weather INCLUDING drying up this and many other lakes.
    Yes people they are using weather manipulation technology to intentionally dry up these resivors.
    They could easily use the same technology to create moisture in the Colorado river systems but THEY DON'T.
    Have you heard any mention of them e using rain making technology since this water emergency at the resivors began?
    I haven't. Why don't ALL of you go to your Leaders and ask them to use it so we can fill these lakes back up.
    It that easy. Tell them to stop creating all the other destructive weather too.
    Really, look it up. They've had this technology for many years and have been using it in very destructive ways.
