I made this yesterday and it was awesome! I used your recipes for the sweet soy and hot chili oil and they are great! You have opened a whole new world of tastes up for me! Thanks Mandy!
I just finished making a 3 pound pork belly with this recipe for my entire family. They descended on the meat like a pack of vultures haha. I used a canned red oil that was less spicy instead of making my own. What I really like about this recipe is that the spicy mostly comes from the raw garlic rather than the real spicy. Even My grandma who is more southern Chinese (so has a light palate) was able to enjoy this dish
This pork menu remind me the first time i fall in love with sichuan food, actually was the first time i heard about sichuan. Im so glad i found this video. Cant wait to try.

I want to compliment you on your English. I have been away from your channel for a while and I hear that it has become better and better, both clearer and more fluent. For fifteen years I taught English to foreigners and I also had a university program to train teachers, so I know how difficult it can be to learn a language you are not born into! The quality of your English is also seen in your recipes and cooking. You are a person who always does the best possible. Thank you for teaching so well and caring so much. You deserve lots of success, and your friends and family must be so proud of you!
I love your receipts it is real authentic Chinese food. Which I cannot buy for money or good words as we say in German. Since I live in the very countryside in northern Germany, there is no restaurant with real Chinese food within reach. Thank you so much!
Watching your channel grow gives me so much happiness girl...silently watching you for a long time. Couldn’t stop myself from letting you know how much I like your videos. You deserve more subscribers. ❤️❤️❤️
I used Sukiyaki Pork Belly that comes sliced already. Just dip it in boiling water for ~ 10 seconds and it's good to go ! Excellent for Keto Diet and delicious !
I would love that! I am definitely going to cook this. I hsve always loved oriental food but dont know how to cook it. You have insoired me. I am going to your amazon site and see if you have a wok on there as well as other things to get started! Thank you for sending me this link because i requested it for your home made sauce recipe, however, now i will make this too! So glad i found you!
In the states here. They just sell bacon and its smoked most all the time. I would love to tey this Dish tho. Looks soo yummy and also i want to try Bulgogi ... 🌸💝🌸🌺💝🌸. Thank you for sharing ✌️🙂👍
I was a little skeptical; I almost didn't want to watch it. I said I will give it a chance, and I am pleasantly surprised! This looks so yummy and I can't wait to try this, too, along with your other recipes. But, Egg Foo Young is my favorite!
Hi cuttie. I really love these kinds of pork steamed sliced meat also. but seasoning and steaming are a little bit some different. Happy and Good luck.
Thank you for sharing... appreciate that you say the name of the dish in Chinese, would you be able to show it in pinyin too? I want to learn to pronounce it too... As always really enjoyed your video!
do you recommend using the sweet soysauce for hot dishes, such as Suan La Fen or Mapo Tofu? or would that be a waste for the delicious sauce?? thanks so much
It depends.... white people have a gene that causes a tongue numbing sensation when eating szeuchuan peppercorns. It's very unique and scientists are still having trouble finding a proper explanation, aside from an inferior genetic mutation, though it might explain a lot of american chinese foods....
I'm making this tonight. As I'm cooking down the sweet soy sauce, a mini swarm of bees are flying at my window screen attracted by the lovely, sweet smell. 🐝🍯😃
Well Mandy, all I can say is that I really like your channel and your recipes. Regarding this recipe, the pork belly cooked this way is amazing, but the sauce, even though I followed your recipe to the letter, except for reducing the garlic by one third, it was inedible. Everyone that tried it, ended up with severe heartburn. Very disappointing, because we were all looking forward to trying it, after watching your video. :-(
You're my favourite cooking channel. You always put so much effort into your videos and explanations.

Hi, can you use the broth used to cook the pork belly for some other dish?
do you recommend using the sweet soysauce for hot dishes, such as Suan La Fen or Mapo Tofu? or would that be a waste for the delicious sauce?? thanks so much
Amitofo, your recipes are delicious, I have made several. I would enjoy your version of Mapotofu. Xie Xie
very nice
Yummy👌
Hello dear, can you teach us how to prep sessame paste for hotpot ....thank u.
I think it is a dipping sauce. Check this video th-cam.com/video/aZl2oYFfmPU/w-d-xo.html
Pork Belly in the US is also called "fresh-side".
What knife/cleaver are you using when you cut the pork? Do you have a good one you recommend?
Love your channel!! ❤️🌶❤️
Can I simmer the pork belly in the master brine?
You are absolutely adorable.
can I use regular store bought sweet soy sauce ?
Arrgghh. So painful to watch your videos @ 12midnite (bad timing) & got nothin' to eat in the fridge. This dish looks yummy. I should try this 😋
Can I use "Sichuan Pixian Boad Bean Paste with Red Chili Oil - Hong You Dou Ban" as a replacement for the homemade Sichuan hot chili oil?
no,Broad bean paste and chilli oil are used in two ways.
my szechan peppers ordered off amazon taste strange. should they taste make your tongue tingle? is that normal for this pepper?
Yeah, that's normal :)
yes, it supposed to make your tongue numbing and tingle. That is the most popular ingredients in sichuan.
It depends.... white people have a gene that causes a tongue numbing sensation when eating szeuchuan peppercorns. It's very unique and scientists are still having trouble finding a proper explanation, aside from an inferior genetic mutation, though it might explain a lot of american chinese foods....
@@alansato - hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I'm making this tonight. As I'm cooking down the sweet soy sauce, a mini swarm of bees are flying at my window screen attracted by the lovely, sweet smell. 🐝🍯😃

1:42 is this a recipe or a spell?
I am in Korea and I cannot find any Chinese Cooking wine. Is there a good substitute for that?
Any rice wine is fine, like cheongju
I use rice wine I found in my asian markets

Unfortunately I absolutely hate star anise and it seems it’s an important spice in Sichuan cuisine. ☹️
