Hey thanks for the great (short/non complicated!) video! I just have a quick question, (it might be silly but my lack of knowledge shows!) Where I plan to install a water butt, the down pipe is from a brick shed, there isn't any grate or anything at all at the bottom of the pipe, so will I lose water out there? Or does it just transfer into the tank?!

I recently purchased and fitted some mini guttering for my shed, including a diverter to connect the downpipe to a water butt. When I tested the guttering with a hosepipe, some of the water ran into the water butt from the diverter but also, a lot of the water ran out of the bottom of the pipe (ie past the diverter). So a lot of water is being wasted and it will create a boggy area at the base of the downpipe. I thought water was only meant to run past the diverter once the water butt was full? Have I installed it incorrectly?

Hi Andrew, thanks for your question. The Rainwater Diverter for a Mini Gutter System is slightly different to that of the system in this video. If you would like to email our Customer Services team and include some photos of your installation, they will be more than happy to help you - sales@guttersupplies.co.uk

I bought a water butt the other day, but I've fallen at the first hurdle! The instructions say I need to drill a 27mm hole in the butt. But I can't find a 27mm drill bit, just 26mm or 28mm. Should I buy the 28mm instead? I notice you used 26mm. Are the connections standard on all water butts? Thanks!

26mm will work fine, there is flexibility in the wall of the water butt. We installed a butt just the other day using a 22mm bit and gently enlarging the hole with a file.
