My daddy from there, and my dads family still there, I lived there in the 80s, it was a blooming time, sad to see Perry County this way, I live and raised in Northern Indiana, all my memories of Hazard are good ones, I do go back once and awhile, good to see things hopefully change for the good

Imagine Amazon warehouse comes to hazard Kentucky, this town would be BOOMING. 15$ hour and cost of living is sooooo cheap.

Logistically and geographically it is a horrible spot for an Amazon warehouse, unfortunately

      @@MacMac548 why is that?

@@brookejodyhayes1360 it takes you well over 2 hours to drive 100 miles in Eastern Kentucky. The same distance takes only 1.5 hours almost anywhere else in the country. It’s near impossible to drive in the mountains, especially on the scale that Amazon would need to. Plus the roads and infrastructure in Eastern KY wouldn’t be able to handle a massive influx of drivers/transportation

@@MacMac548 there are many reliable highways, parkways, and interstates here in Appalachia. And most of those logistical issues could be solved by building a decent airport in the area with all that extra revenue it would generate. Js.

You already make almost that in a restaurant now here but everything else goes up when the wage does to keep you on your knees

5:12 I hope they fixed the sign. It would be ironic to leave up a misspelled title over a school.

The Hemphill School was closed in the 1970s it's now used a a place for the community to gather and listen to local musicians/bands play music and eat dinner together. Everyone brings a something and it's a nice thing for that small community. It also keeps people tight knit on current events. I grew up in a neighboring area and played many times there. A wonderful community of people, but yea the sign needs fixed, but it hasn't been a official school for almost 50 years
