Amazing catch, seeing three Warbonnets in a lashup, with an RS-3 horn blowing in the wind, almost tricks you into believing this was taken during the ATSF era... It's really sad to see these units slowly dying off and being replaced, but at least you can still find them, unlike SP units, which are completely extinct except for a few museum pieces now.
I love seeing engines running bobtail!! Whatever it's called,I'm a truck driver, it's always cool to see the engines hauling ass passed our elevator with no cars!
i live there and i go to murray often, they have allot of dash-8 40cw's ATSF warbonnets there, and the BN christmas train 1506 is there currently and so are allot of SD70MACs
It has nothing to do with “polishing.” GE factory paint for a certain period in the early 90s was defective and would go bad early on. There was even a lawsuit between GE and the company that provided the paint (Krylon I think). That combined with the sand blasting effect of running across the desert at high speeds faded the paint to that nasty pink color. The trailing unit is a very early BNSF full repaint which did not go bad.
BNSF 554 sat in newton KS for years,it’s gone now,no clue where it went, hopefully not to LTEX,I hope I get to see 554 again.(my pfp is 554,so this vid for me is a blast from the past)
It's funny how these old beat up B40-8Ws somehow got PTC but very few t4s dont
Pink bonnets
That's the pinkest Bonnet I've ever seen!

Nice! Glad to see some old GE's floating around
It’s crazy when you look it up and see how it used to look
Nice catch! I think most of the B40-8Ws are stored in Murray yard in Kansas City!

I drove by and man there's like 5 mins of storage track or something like that
MrBnsftrain Some of the 4-axle D8s were also used on locals that passed Coal City, IL.
A handful of them were rebuilt.
notice how they polish the BNSF patched. but the original Santa Fe units. they leave looking busted

Amtrak706 same thing happened with SP as well I think. A lot of their units in the 90s had paint chipping away not long after rebuild
Nice catch!

SANTA FE ALL THE WAY!
Wow!
554 is in my hometown Newton Kansas
The fake bonnet looked fine but the others were pink. If you look up 554 and how it looked back in the 90s you couldn’t even tell they were the same
Man I love old ATSF power
Damn that's hot
