    Beautiful! And I could watch hours of trimming and cleanup. Something very relaxing about it, sorry if it's a headache for you. I look forward to the day when I can have half the trimming session as this.
    And thank you for showing the reality of ups and downs. So many times we only see the snapshot framed by the creator. I want to see the process, good and bad, so that I know I'm learning and on the right track. Thank you ❤️

    Re: ammonia spikes, I have started using SeaChem AmGuard anytime I do significant tank maintenance - “significant” defined as moving substrate around, big plant trims, etc.
    According to SeaChem it’s the most powerful product in the market, and locks up harmful ammonia for 48-72 hours (double that of similar products), but it remains bioavailable to the nitrifying bacteria such that it can still be broken down as it normally would. Having started to use this I’ve never experienced any adverse effects from ammonia spikes on livestock, even when making major changes to scapes (which includes dosing the tank prior to pulling everything out and lowering the water in order to net them out). Even with consistent/ideal water parameters in the day to day, I think it’s a reasonable insurance policy to keep on hand to manage the unexpected.

    Btw, there is a new rotala rotundafolia called rotala blood red SG variant found recently. No nitrate limitation and grow straight unlike normal rotala rotundafolia species. You can see info on them in the 2hraquarist website.

      No I think that's a different type of rotala

    Hi, Do you think a very dark green plant would contrast nicely against the reds and have you ever considered a Vincent van Gogh theme for an aquascape?

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm sure it will contrast nicely! I have not considered that, but cool idea!

      @@MJAquascaping The reason I suggested Vincent as a theme is on my birthday back in September a group of friends treated me to a multi-media exhibition of Vincent van Gogh and dinner in Buffalo, NY. The multi-media exhibit was very impressive with laser projected images and information about his life and artworks.

    Mooi om te zien, maar hoe krijg je die rode kleuren er toch zo goed uit? En hoe blijven die bubbeltjes aan je planten kleven 😅

      I would just keep it like that, unless you really think it's not going to survive, then you could trim the healthy part of and replant that.

    How do you know you aren't cutting the shrimp? You can't see if they are hiding in the plants.

      @MJAquascaping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always keep an eye out, and in all the years I've been doing this I have never cut a shrimp, they always jump away when you get close with a scissor

    Are you feeding 4ml of Masterline 1 daily? This means that as much as 2.2ppm of iron goes to the aquarium every week 😊 Do not give phosphorus and nitrogen?

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes I forget 😅 so maybe 5 out of 7 days 😂 Nope no phosphorus and nitrogen at the moment. Will probably dose some masterline 2 after the next trimming session
