Have you ever paid attention to canned seafood you buy in the grocery store? Almost all of it is a product of China or somewhere outside the United States. Why buy seafood from China when we have access to plenty of American Seafood all around us!? Well that's what I am trying in this video canned smoked oysters and canned smoked King (Chinook) Salmon! Are they any good? Watch and see!

buying canned seafood ? never, if it's not fresh from this morning, it's a sanitary danger. oysters are meant to be eaten fresh, not from a can like spaggetios or other shitty food.

One hors d'oeuvre that I have always loved is a smoked oyster, green olive with a pimento, and a chunk of sharp cheddar cheese all skewered on a tooth pick. I could eat a tray of them with no help.

As an Alaskan, thanks for supporting our small local businesses. The fishermen I've met here are amazing people and the food we produce is super good.

Welp... as an Asian, we are also sceptic with foodproducts from China. The quality control was poor after the initiation of economic growth an capitalism in late 90's... ironically

It has quite a bit to do with capitalism, obeying regulations is expensive and reduces profit, so the Chinese don’t pay their child slaves and skirt around safety. This is similar to what happened in the 20s, where sausages were barely half meat.

My kids love oysters! And sardines too. I myself am not a fan. They just started selling these tuna cups. They have a few different flavors. I believe its chicken of the sea. The one i tried was lemon, thyme in a light olive oil. They are amazing! They also have a Thai chili flavor also.

I love smoked oysters and salmon. My salmon is low from Norway that I get at aldi. The oysters are either from Walmart or dollar tree as I am the only one that eats them so I go the cheap way. I have tried oysters in stew home made and from a can and even though I like the flavor something in it makes me gag every time. I don't have the same problem with clam chowder. So I don't bother getting raw or canned oysters. Besides they are not as readily available in my area except at Christmas. Salmon on the other hand I could eat several times a week. I just recently started watching your program its been helpful, and I really enjoy it.

I'd like to try these as I usually really like ANYTHING smoked, but I don't think I've ever seen them here in the UK. I've noticed that a lot of our canned fish products come from distant shores, usually far eastern as well.
It seems odd because we have a quite large fishing trade in the UK, being an island and all.
That salmon looked a bit different than we get in the UK as well. Ours is usually a cross section from the tail end, and comes with the bones and skin in as well. Your Chinook Salmon looked a bit more appetising, but it looks like it takes much more preparation to make as well. I would guess yours was more expensive, but there was far less in the can than there usually is in a British brand.
I used to be a chef until I stopped due to illness, so I find your videos really interesting. I wish I could become a patron or something, but as you can guess, welfare in the UK isn't exactly a great income at the moment. If you are interested, I'd like to maybe send you some of our 'dollar store' type items to see what you think of them though? You have tried some of the things we get here ( the breakfast in a can you tried is on sale in the UK ) but there are some things you may be interested in.
Keep up the good work! We - The People! appreciate it! 👍😃

I've had my fair share of smoked oysters, but the best way for me to eat them is to microwave them for about 30 seconds and douse them in lemon juice and hot sauce. This is probably my favorite thing to eat whenever I go to the lake. I recomend using Cholulah hotsauce.
