Backstab: equip LIGHT armour (I did it with none) to be fast enough to get behind him, but you also need to RELEASE the shield button early enough to be able to activate it. Also, level up STRENGTH so that it only takes the 6 backstabs here instead of my 20!

3:31 if you don't trust yourself to jump you can also aim just left of the point and run, don't sprint, then roll at the edge and let go of the movement stick. You should land right on the pillar. Works for me every time. You can also jump like Cowboy does but I've found that if you don't aim perfectly it is easy to shoot left/right of the pillar like you can see at 4:15.
You don’t have to fight the black knight - I went around because I couldn’t either. Go the other way to the bonfire before you fight the first boss of the game, the Asylum Demon, by going round the outside of where the boss battle took place. Turn left through gate and head up the stairs. Oscar will see you from there, lure him out into the open (down the stairs to the bonfire) and kill him. He’s easy to kill because he’s slow and rolls a lot. Then go back up, go up the stairs on your right, fight the Hallows at the point where you went up to jump attack the Asylum Demon, unlock the door with the key guarded by the 2 hallows, and pick up the rusty ring. Go back out the same way. :)
Cowboy, I recently purchased the game for the switch, and was about to delete it because I had no idea what to do. I found your walkthrough and I now enjoy the gave. I still can't do the backstab, but hopefully, I will learn how soon. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
I'm doing my first playthrough and was doing so poorly I couldn't move from the first Taurus Demon on the bridge. You've helped me so much! This episode I wanted to be big and tough and kill Lautrec without kicking (also it's hard to kick things??) And... It took a while. Anyhow, thanks again!
I'm really having fun following this walkthrough! It all works even in Dark Souls (2011), though I had quite a bit of trouble with the black knight in the Asylum.
Got Dark Souls Remastered at the end of 2024, had an issue with the disk, so I had to take it back and wait till the shop had another. Got a new game yesterday. Thanks to Cowboy for giving us this walkthrough. Also, if anyone is struggling with Haval, something I just found out,(not sure if it will work so don't take my word for it),but if you get past Haval and open the door, then leave, Haval won't leave the tower, so you can bait him into following him and get a lucky hit or two in when he misses, but no more then two. It's tedious, but it worked for me. (Again, don't take my word try it for yourself)
This walkthrough is amazing so far btw, you really seem to know everything about this game. I didn’t know half this shit and I’m having fun getting all this stuff for myself that I didn’t get before
I'd recommend always coming here between early game and mid game it's always such a good boost to your skills especially if your doing strength build and get lucky with black knight stuff
Thank-you so much for this! I have just started playing on the ps5… I’ve never played any dark souls so this is my entry point :D it’s really fun once you get the hang of it.. but some moments drive me insane..
Omg thank you! I'm pretty new to the game and was all over the place and stuck on the wolf Sif. I even killed the dragon with arrows I was so bored and not sure what to do but you helped me get a clear path of what I needed to be doing. Thanks so much and I'll keep watching to help out lol
I failed to kick Lautrec off the cliff... so I had a pissed off Lautrec trying to hunt me down! I usually suck at parrying but I got off 3 in a row, so I'm chuffed with that, good stuff, enjoying playing the game again, didn't get it on release but glad to be back and having as much fun as ever.
I know this is from a year ago but I just started replaying remastered on the switch and the same thing happened to me, I died to Lautrec so many times. Eventually when I respawned for the 67th time, he was back in the sitting position so I kicked his slimy ass off the cliff.
I got that lizard randomly while backtracking through here watching an earlier video! This is my first playthrough and these videos are really helpful!
Just bought all 3 for $25 on Amazon. U my friend r the real MVP. I play till I die several times lol then learn wtf I’m doing wrong lol. Most of time I’m in an area that’s above my level lol. So far loving the game.
CB the lizard in the taurus demon is actually at the top floor, the below the archers not the one below that, to be more exact the one that has the boss fog for the Taurus demon
I finished Bloodborne and Nioh on my own. Without any guide. But I refuse to play this one without a walkthrough for some reason. Thanks for the excellent walkthrough. This makes me want to start all over once finished and see how far I can make it on my own.
Those Gargoyles were no joke...for some reason that NPC Solaire wasn't there to help me and it took several tries to take them down. I feel like I've really grown as a Dark Souls players through this far, and since the Dragon was still up for me, I had to kill him too. Tricky, but doable once you learn the strategy. Thanks again for so much information.
I don't know how I found this years old videos. However this is the best dark souls guide I found.Thaks for your hard works.I am subscribing you. And love you bro.
You can try getting the Gravelord's Curved Sword. It's a really good curved greatsword, and you can get it the first thing after getting to Firelink, though running past all the enemies takes a few tries. And if I remember correctly it is almost quality scaling
1:16 knowing he is going to steal firekeeper's souls at some point, I still hesitated to kill him. After seeing you yeet him with two kicks, I just had to duplicate that!
Hello Mr. Cowboy and other gamer friends! I'm new at Dark Souls and trying to learn a few tricks. First of all, thanks for videos. You did great job here. But there is something I wonder; What if we kill that Oscar dude ourselves? He seems like just another hostile now. So why are we getting that knight to kill Oscar? I watched again but I must have missed that part. Thanks in advance.
Kick Lautrec off the cliff, what could go wrong? Well kicks are notoriously difficult to get right at the best of times and even after practicing for ages, I ended up with throwing an R1 and now have an angry NPC parry god in Firelink. If you do this, back up your save game first so you can restore if it goes wrong.
What's so special about the Gargoyle's halberd? The problem is he's a tough NPC at the level you first meet him. He's dead now, I had to pay absolution to de-aggro him but ended up killing him later as a spirit of vengeance in Anor Londo. Unfortunately I got greedy and gave Anastacea's soul to the Anor Londo firekeeper to reinforce my Estus flask, but no biggie as you can still warp to the dead fire and drop down to the altar to warp out.
I was curious as well and it seems to be that... he's just an ssshole. There's an interaction where he just says that she's been useful to him but he's had enough of her. Just goes to show that circumstances can alter your perception of people.
Very late to the party on this never played a Souls game but the other day I finished my Elden Ring playthrough at 100% everything and all achievements got sad when it was over but I'm here for DS1 Remaster since I never played it, loving it so far I'm playing a bit ahead and watching the guide after to make sure I don't miss or mess anything up you're a legend for these guides even though this is an old one Elden Ring was 10/10 and you nailed that too big respect you've turned me into the souls borne nerd I always wanted to be 😂
If I kill havel or whatever the dude in gold armour will I miss a trophy or not? I want that ring but I don't want to miss a trophy because I'm going for a platinum run and I'm a very busy man.
You’ll be able to fight him in Anor Londo, but he’ll be joined by 2 wingman. It can be tricky as one is a sage using soul arrows and the other is all about heavy melee attacks.
O just buy a tone of poison arrows from the hollow vender near the capra demon boss 100 souls apeace all 3 take poison lile dogs take vet visits not varry well
15:28 as i commented on a previous video. I know this video is 4 years old, but that crystal lizard you were looking for is in that barrel on the right, on the top floor of that tower and not on the middle floor where you kept looking as in 15:35

hey buddy thank you for making a bunch of videos dedicated to guiding new players to the game. im a few years late but i find this game to be awesome but i just couldnt get over the fact that im missing things here and there. im currently part 4 of your videos and im hoping to accomplish the game completely thanks to your guide! cheers sir!
Keep up the great videos mate 👍🏻. Your dark souls videos are the most helpful ones I’ve found. You explain things far better than others I find.
im new to dark souls but im absolutely in love with this game
These videos are super-useful. Thanks for making them!
I have seen other gameplays before, but none as good as yours! You really are helping me through my first Dark Souls 1 campaign!
I'm super late to dark souls as a whole but your videos are super helpful, thank you so much for putting in the time and effort to make these
2022 and using this guide. I scrapped my 50hr file and followed the guide. 3 hrs in maybe and already bested the success of my previous 50hrs
3:31 if you don't trust yourself to jump you can also aim just left of the point and run, don't sprint, then roll at the edge and let go of the movement stick. You should land right on the pillar. Works for me every time. You can also jump like Cowboy does but I've found that if you don't aim perfectly it is easy to shoot left/right of the pillar like you can see at 4:15.
you are awesome man i was having so much trouble doing the jump
Thanks bro! was stuck on this for way too long
Thanks!
Can't. Get. Past. Black. Knight.
yes
parry
No matter what I try the black knight one shots my stamina and kills me instantly
Keep shield up and strafe right, wait for attack then backstab. Rinse and repeat.
James Lowmack when you go to back stab don’t press anything else but R1.
8:35 when I tried this, Oscar killed the black knight💀
I thought you were joking but it just happened to me as well... hilarious, honestly.
My, how the tables have turned. Still, dealing with Oscar is easier than dealing with a black knight.
As he said don't walk into the middle of the floor I did and got obliterated
Same here bro. Same here
4 years late, yet hes still the goat when it comes to walkthroughs.
This is the greatest Dark Souls guide I’ve seen, thanks!
I love revisiting this series every year, keep up the good work!
I'm really having fun following this walkthrough! It all works even in Dark Souls (2011), though I had quite a bit of trouble with the black knight in the Asylum.
“Whaterver you do don’t walk into the middle of the floor” as I fall through the ground
i just killed him
he is easy just stay behind and hit
and dodge away when he does that explode thing
That lizard is in the barrels on the highest level of that spiral staircase..if anyone was wondering
This game is draining. The constant feel that you're in danger and have to keep guards up is something
Did you stick with it?
@@Barney_rubble983 I did finished the game. It was quite a while a go
@@saltyismymiddlename97 cool, I'm just on my first playthrough. I just finished dark souls 3, this game.feels easier but with less bonfires.
This walkthrough is amazing so far btw, you really seem to know everything about this game. I didn’t know half this shit and I’m having fun getting all this stuff for myself that I didn’t get before
Anyone else try kicking Lautric but flopped and had to fight his overpowered ass😂
Finished your Demons Souls Walkthrough and Faith walkthrough. Really enjoying this so far. Been a breeze.
Omg thank you! I'm pretty new to the game and was all over the place and stuck on the wolf Sif. I even killed the dragon with arrows I was so bored and not sure what to do but you helped me get a clear path of what I needed to be doing. Thanks so much and I'll keep watching to help out lol
This is my second play through this guide is epic cheers
I failed to kick Lautrec off the cliff... so I had a pissed off Lautrec trying to hunt me down! I usually suck at parrying but I got off 3 in a row, so I'm chuffed with that, good stuff, enjoying playing the game again, didn't get it on release but glad to be back and having as much fun as ever.
I know this is from a year ago but I just started replaying remastered on the switch and the same thing happened to me, I died to Lautrec so many times. Eventually when I respawned for the 67th time, he was back in the sitting position so I kicked his slimy ass off the cliff.
I did failed to do the kick multiple times and almost getting my ass whipped. Luckily he's fell on his own 😂
I got that lizard randomly while backtracking through here watching an earlier video! This is my first playthrough and these videos are really helpful!
Kicking : Press L1 and push L stick at same time to kick
“Actually y’know what”
Me tries to stop and falls off cliff
“Nvm”
Those Gargoyles were no joke...for some reason that NPC Solaire wasn't there to help me and it took several tries to take them down. I feel like I've really grown as a Dark Souls players through this far, and since the Dragon was still up for me, I had to kill him too. Tricky, but doable once you learn the strategy. Thanks again for so much information.
I wish I had the crest shield when fighting the moonlight butterfly
I don't know how I found this years old videos. However this is the best dark souls guide I found.Thaks for your hard works.I am subscribing you.
And love you bro.
You can try getting the Gravelord's Curved Sword. It's a really good curved greatsword, and you can get it the first thing after getting to Firelink, though running past all the enemies takes a few tries. And if I remember correctly it is almost quality scaling
Mikołaj Błaszczyszyn haha i think the idea of a qaulity build died with the bkgs drop
It's bc the dark knight can just do it for you, by all means you can fight him yourself he isn't really all that hard
Late but bewarned he has a attack that negates your shield
Even with a metal 100% block he can cut through it not much damage but still
Whenever I buy another souls game and need help, I always come to those channel
The ending was hilarious because you just give homework sdjkaskjda
dark souls oynayan türk buldum
@@RoyaleKingdom olmaz olur mu :)
I never knew the black knight could hurt Oscar. Nice!
I am struggling to kick effectively. Is it forward on the stick and RB on Xbox? It seems to work like 10% of the time.
Yeah it is but I swapped RB and trigger and it made it much easier for me. Make sure you're pressing both at the same time.
Press be first then quickly press forward
Takes a while to get used to but I got it
Yeah you got it right but both need to be clicked at the same time.
1:44 "We're not going to fight him fair" 😂😂
Kick Lautrec off the cliff, what could go wrong? Well kicks are notoriously difficult to get right at the best of times and even after practicing for ages, I ended up with throwing an R1 and now have an angry NPC parry god in Firelink. If you do this, back up your save game first so you can restore if it goes wrong.
Yeah I sat there and practiced my kicks and then I went up and hit him with my sword then got lucky and kicked him down the hole on my second r1
Its very easy to kill him with the gargoyles halberd
What's so special about the Gargoyle's halberd? The problem is he's a tough NPC at the level you first meet him. He's dead now, I had to pay absolution to de-aggro him but ended up killing him later as a spirit of vengeance in Anor Londo. Unfortunately I got greedy and gave Anastacea's soul to the Anor Londo firekeeper to reinforce my Estus flask, but no biggie as you can still warp to the dead fire and drop down to the altar to warp out.
12:05 they just wanted to talk about your cars extended warranty 😂
As this is my first playthrough, I want to see why the golden armored guy betrays you...that's pretty sad. But is it power hunger that consumes him?
I was curious as well and it seems to be that... he's just an ssshole. There's an interaction where he just says that she's been useful to him but he's had enough of her. Just goes to show that circumstances can alter your perception of people.
Very late to the party on this never played a Souls game but the other day I finished my Elden Ring playthrough at 100% everything and all achievements got sad when it was over but I'm here for DS1 Remaster since I never played it, loving it so far I'm playing a bit ahead and watching the guide after to make sure I don't miss or mess anything up you're a legend for these guides even though this is an old one Elden Ring was 10/10 and you nailed that too big respect you've turned me into the souls borne nerd I always wanted to be 😂
i don't know how to kick, so I fought Lautrec fairly, it was difficult even with the drake sword, but succeeded in a few tries
howwww, he’s going batshit on me, i can not get behind him or land any hits!?!??
@@starchysgraveyardshift ik this is late and u prolbably killed him but parry him worked for me
5 years late is crazy but I was so lost till I found this so thank you 😭🙏
15:38 that lizard is on the upper floor mate.
7:40
"Oscar is now hollow"
someone listen to this line with captions
If I kill havel or whatever the dude in gold armour will I miss a trophy or not? I want that ring but I don't want to miss a trophy because I'm going for a platinum run and I'm a very busy man.
Well you can't get a platinum run in 1 playthrough so plan on dropping 70+ hrs.
70? For real? I think I put 120-160 into DS2 and DS3 in a single play through.
Ya for the all rings achv u gota do 2 newgame plus cicles and no kl have dosnt effect ur trophy inless u dont kill him and dont grab his rin XD
Platinum'd Bloodborne, then Elden ring 2 days ago....time for the OG. Thank you fellow Cowboy
I cant get the ring of favor now, he was there before and now he is gone. :(
You’ll be able to fight him in Anor Londo, but he’ll be joined by 2 wingman. It can be tricky as one is a sage using soul arrows and the other is all about heavy melee attacks.
Alternatively you can trade the Xanthous crown from the painted world to Snuggly to get the ring
SirStoneyOfBow I'm in ng+2 and in my next playthrough, I'll fight him in Anor Londo
O just buy a tone of poison arrows from the hollow vender near the capra demon boss 100 souls apeace all 3 take poison lile dogs take vet visits not varry well
@@MMMadman0991 im already in NG+7 now lol.
15:28 as i commented on a previous video. I know this video is 4 years old, but that crystal lizard you were looking for is in that barrel on the right, on the top floor of that tower and not on the middle floor where you kept looking as in 15:35
