- Barbie Mariposa doll cake or butterfly wings cake for Keeley's 4th birthday. For how to make my standing up princess doll cakes go to my youtube channel 'mackandnorm' or Pink Cake Princess and click on the 'how to make my princess doll cake' playlist or links. This Barbie's dress made of embossed fondant (the birthday girl ate the whole dress!) It was a chocolate cake with marshmallow frosting & fondant icing. Inspired by a cake by another Andrea of Andreasweetcakes on Flickr. Happy Birthday Keeley!
the cake was awesome my little cusins loved it!
very nice design. THe embossed patterns is a signature touch of yours with the dolls! Very nice indeed!
That song brought back memories from when I was a little kid...but yeah, that cake is beautiful! I love it!!!
Very Lovely! This music was excellent for this video too! Everything looks very well thought out! Great cake!
Thanks for the comments! I haven't heard of those dolls but if I get a request for one I'll let you know. I try to show how I make my cakes but it just depends on my deadline. You can check out 2 of my videos where I show construction - the wiggles big red car cake (construction) & the yellow frangipani cake (construction)
First of all love love the music.. NKOTB!!!! The cake caught my eye! Awesome design.
Love it. Thanks for sharing
What a beautiful cake! the embossed cut outs are so effective. You've done a great job.
Beautiful cake! The embossing on the fondant is gorgeous! Great job! ;)
Hi there, you have inspired me to make a barbie cake for my daughter. You are simply amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Yes well the whole dress was eaten up by the little birthday girl in fits of laughter! I loved the reaction on her face when she first saw it - priceless!
wow the barbie dress looks like its a part of the cake! amazing :D
Wonderful Embossing job!! looks awesome
Loooovely! I love all your precious cakes.
Please make tutourials soon.
Hi Rylan! Thanks for the compliment. For some reason I thought Rylan was a girl's name so all this time I thought you were a girl - mybad! I just saw your first cake & let me say again what a wonderful cake it is! You should really be proud of yourself! Cant wait to see more of your work! If you want to practice the fondant use foam cake dummies & remove the fondant before it sets so you can reuse the fondant to practice again on the same cake dummy. Take care sweetie ; )
You should! It's great fun this cake - especially when the birthday girl see it : )
Thanks! NKOTB reminds me of my teenage years ; )
That would be great - a fairy would be real nice ; )
Thanks Laura! Cant wait to see your next cake!
Your work is perfection!!
I loveeeeeeeeee this :-) I just made a standing BArbie cake and it was my first time and I thought it turned out great :-).
I'm going to make this for my daughters birthday. Thank you for sharing :-)
Very beautiful. What a sweet (no pun intended) do for a wonderful girl. One day when I have a child would love to make cakes for them. ^_^ For now I practice on my own birthdays (mostly video game characters) XD . Also pumpkins. :3 It's fun to make art out of food.
I need to make my own fondant, using pain frosting and such is much harder and so much sticker. However fun to create with children and they love making messes.
great cake! It really is beautiful!
Yes I did & thanks! Your user name reminds me that I have to make an Ariel doll cake for my 3yr old daughter soon!
I'm sure it was yummy! And you got it all to yourself!
- and cut the hearts in half for the leafy bits on the side. You can buy embossing lace or textured templates from cake decorating shops. Try searching for an on line store. Or you can use anything that will give an impression as long as it has been cleaned & only used for your cakes. Good luck & remember to share your work when it's done!
To make the wings shiny I used edible shimmer dust (from cake decorating supply shop) in a silver color but you could use a nice pink too. I brushed it on roughly with a brush. Thanks for the compliment ; )
So PRETTY!
D u c,
Khgffrt 🐴🐴🐴🐴. 🐗. Nñnnjm,
what a beautiful cake! This must've taken you a long time to create. You did a great job on it too. I wish I could do cake decorating, but i have carpal Tunnel in both hands.
Yes I loved NKOTB as a teen too ; )
exceptional work!!!
Thanks! I'm sure your cake will look fantastic ; )
@Zeldagirl86 Thank you! Yes making your own fondant is more time consuming but I guess the kids do love it! I'm sure you'll spoil who ever you make cakes for - especially for yourself! Take care ; )
I have 2 videos that show how I constructed the cakes (wiggles & yellow frangipanies). I have a 1yr & 4yr old at home & they keep me very busy! I really have to make time to bake & decorate because I love doing it - otherwise I would never have the time to do it. Videos are just an extra I do if I get the chance. Thanks for the interest in my cakes ; )
@AquaGirl11354 do you mean the pattern in the wings & dress? You can emboss the fondant by rolling it with a textured rolling pin or with a textured mat before cutting out and placing on the cake ; )
I'm getting diabetes just looking at it lol. Amazing cake!
the best cake ı'v seen very nice
u makethe best cakes
I bought mine from ebay - it was a one off item that the seller was selling. But you can probably fine it on line if you do a search - it's FMM (brand) italic letter cutters in lower case.
it looks really good! :D
- I wanna do special cakes aswell... but I hardly have anyone to do them for ^^' but maybe... for my own birthday this year I will try to make a ponycake.

You should! I'm sure she will love it; )

Glad you liked the cake! Your niece will worship you! Dont be scared of the fondant - it just takes practice!
I LOVE IT!!!
Hi there, this cake was inspired by another cake I saw on Flickr (a photo sharing website). It was originally done by a lady from Canada who also has the Andrea & her user name on Flickr is AndreaSweetCakes. She explains how to do some of it on Flickr. I'll send you a link to her cakes. I didn't have the cutters she had so just cut a template from paper & used them with a stanley knife to cut the fondant for the wing bits. Didn't have the cutters for the side bits so used a heart shape cutter -
It is so pretty and so cute
+Vivian Izaguirre thank you so much ; )

I dont have any flowers on this cake. You maybe refering to the embossing on the wings & the dress? You can use impression matts or textured rolling pins ; )
very good
Oh thank you for your kind comments! I'm gonna have to do more Barbie cakes from now on!
@abbieangel954 Thank you for the complement ; )
I would if I could but I just saw that you are located another country so I think that the delivery cost would be quite expensive ; ) If you happen to be in Sydney then yeah sure!
@Eliserbet Yes the doll is plastic but her clothes is edible fondant ; )
@EA1088 Thank you! I love Barbie cakes too!
It's hard to explain without seeing it done but you bake the cake in a tray & cut out the wings, then decorate with fondant & then place the doll on top ; )
thats so cool
Thank you - she did!
What a stunning cake...it looks too good to eat : D. Are you available to make a butterfly cake for my daughters 6th by any chance?
You should do a special cake for yourself ; )
Thank you- I've been doing this just over a year now ; )
One Word...WOW! :D
@TheEmotionalAbuse well actually its clothes are probly cover with clear foil and she put icing over it so
Oh thank you!
I use FMM letter cutters ; )
All of your barbie cakes are so beautiful. How did you get the letters so perfect? They look like fondant, but they are so perfect I can't imagine how you cut them out. I've notice different types of font on your other cakes. Do you have several different letter cutters for fondant or did you cut them out by hand?
@TheAlinylopes Thank you : )
beautyfull!
@TheRebornDoll Yes I did ; )
Thank you!
