I am grateful to you President Worthen for the man you are. I am a 67 year old grandmother who never finished college but when I listen to your speeches at the start of each semester I feel your love and devotion to your students and to those of us who can only wish to be. Thank you. God bless you and keep you.

Wow! How impactful! Such a powerful witness of God’s love and awareness. This really touched me. So grateful to the spiritual giant who sent it to me yesterday. Grateful to God for all the many spiritual gurus that He has so graciously placed in my life’s path. And thankful for this reminder to remember and rely on His promises. I have work to do. To God be the glory!

I’m at so grateful for this talk. I’ve been praying for guidance and blessings amidst a lot accusation and persecution from my classmates in school because of my faith in Christ. Hearing all the Lord’s promises coming through His servants has inspired me to get back to the Lord’s House and participate in family History work! Thank you Bro. Worthen, you and your wife, Peggy, for sharing through your discourses the Lord’s love to me. ❤

Keep the faith brother! It's a toxic world we live in. What school are you attending?

I heard Dean Worthen give a speech to the graduates at Commencement 2023 just yesterday. On, of all things, the exclamation point!
I’m not a Mormon but my youngest stepson , who graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science, and his wife are. In all my years as an Ivy League academic physician , I never witnessed such a powerful speech. Near the end, he choked up a little, and it was the roar from the students, in the PACKED Marriott Center that gave him strength. Very Powerful. Thank you for your long service Sir!

Thanks for your note. His commencement talk is now online. We left the roar of the students in at the end.

As someone who currently feels a strong need for increased revelation and knowledge, this was really impactful. I’m going go through President Nelson’s promises and really study them and break them down. Thank you!

This is a beautiful talk, thank you for all of the reminders and for the reassurance that we are each individually remembered and prayed over and can receive miracles and should expect them as we increase our temple and family history work, study the scriptures diligently daily and give kind support where we can, even in the celestial room and on the prayer roll. I love our Prophet and his optimism. P.s. I am Peggy, so I like your Peggy too.

I admit to being someone who in the last year or two has found myself among people who have all sorts of beef with BYU, and I haven't been a student there but have had family members and friends with certain stories bad and good, about being prompted to attend or prompted not to, with various results, and quite a bit of the criticism I have heard relating to whatever may be going on at BYU is also related to President Worthen, and though my own knowledge, such as it is, of past BYU presidents would lead me to see a pattern of very righteous men doing their best to run their own lives and contributions by inspiration and obedience to their leaders, I didn't know much about President Worthen and what I heard was just not so good. I don't know why it hadn't really occurred to me that if this president was also appointed by leaders who I am always ready to say are inspired, then why would this president be any different; but it wasn't until a couple months ago that I felt like the Lord prompted me to look into President Worthen and his biography and record in rather a funny way, but when I did, I felt much more at peace about who he is as a person.
And I still don't know all that is going on with the school or those who spend time criticizing on whatever side of any issue on a given day, but whether or not I had already looked into him recently, these remarks alone here would teach me that he is sincere, and would know much more than many people about what it's like to be privy to information that many people aren't and never will be (which you'd think I have spent enough time with myself, in leadership positions, to know you never please everyone and those who are informed the least are the loudest at complaining), and that he does his job as he can and needs prayers and support for all good he attempts and brings to pass, the same as anyone, and anyone who teaches clearly to look at prophets and keeps himself out of any limelight while doing so, in this time, as in all times, when people are always ready to criticize anyone who points to prophets, is someone who can be trusted that far.
And I feel so grateful personally, inasmuch as I was ever going to decide to watch this, having no current ties to BYU, that he would share with us his feelings and burden and attitude --and choices and determination and invitation--and the miracles he sees from listening to and following prophets, and I am able to now say, I love President Worthen and if I could do him some personal service at any time, I would be happy to, the same as basically any other person I might ever meet and feel well-disposed toward. Again, I don't know who it is that exactly feels the need to criticize him, but I will make sure I don't from here on. (And since there is a past record of BYU presidents becoming people who we specifically promise to support and not criticize, who knows but that the Lord has more for President Worthen to do in the future, that will only add to his burden and experience of persecution, and any of us will have been well served to gain the best opinion of him we can before such time as an assignment makes him a leader we would be following as a prophet.)
