    Great talk! I'm greatful that God doesn't micromanage us, by showing most of us, "parting of the red sea like miracles," in order to convince us that he lives. God knows that true faith can only be cultivated through being in a world filled with doubts, and choosing to act on faith, despite not being able to see everything right now. God loves us so much, that he sent Christ to die for us, that if we exercise faith in him, we can live with him and loved ones forever!

    As a serviceman stationed in Germany, I made it to a Stake Conference, in Frankfurt, without a map or prior knowledge as to where the Stake center was located. These type of occurances seemed to be regular and expected back in those days.

    Wow this was perfect for me today. I was having a really hard time with misunderstanding a prompting that I had been given earlier, but I realized tonight that it was a miracle. I very easily could have died, but God saved my life. Thank you for helping me to remember that!

    Being a member for over 15 years and having watched hundreds (if not over 1000) talks and speeches, not counting those I’ve seen/heard in-person firsthand, this is one of the top. Up there with His Grace is Sufficient by Brad Wilcox in my book. This talk was so masterfully and beautifully done. I couldn’t help but feel the inspiration of the Holy Ghost and of God Himself as I listened today. This talk has blessed my life. Thank you Brother Lund. Most of all thank God!

    I'm grateful for the trials my family and I have faced on this earth, most especially grateful for my Heavenly Father's help in overcoming them and giving us an opportunity to have a strong testimony of his Son and the gospel. 💚

    I love President Lund. He was the Mission President in Georgia when I got baptized in 2003. Since then, my wife and I have maintained a close friendship with him and his sweet wife. I can testify to all of you that they both are absolutely a man and woman of God and salt-of-the-earth type of Saints. I invite you all to look up his General Conference talks as well.

    Incredible. Powerful. Elder Lund put into words thoughts I have had and didn’t know it. Thank you for sharing the things The Lord has helped you to see ! These words have helped me see and understand things I already knew. So much information in this talk if you will but listen. I am on my fifth time…..and many more to come. This is where modern day scripture comes from.

    Wow! I could hear everything that Pres. Nelson has been urging and pleading us to do with one of said benefits "to expect miracles ". I definitely felt the Spirit throughout this. Things are definitely picking up serious speed and moving with haste. All these things are not coincidental, it is too well orchestrated to be of men. Awesome!

    2:10 Testimony Frays
    2:52 Missing Pieces of the puzzle
    3:40 Attorney- It doesn't add up
    4:22 Doctrine of Chances (legal term, not an actual doctrine)
    6:15 Corihor and Coveralls! FLASHES OF FAITH (probably the most applicable part of the talk for me)
    11:00 Earth is crammed with heaven everywhere- bushes are afire
    11:15 CS Lewis ride to the zoo
    12:00 St Augustine
    14:30 Join Military
    16:10 Germany Single Adult Ward
    20:40 Met wife @ BYU- but Germany made it possible
    22:20 list of blessing- none are coincidences, they are consequences
    22:40 Son with cancer
    23:30 "they say" Go to the kitchen and sit up
    25:00 Time as Mission Pres
    25:55 Missionary w/ Appendicitis
    28:00 His mom heard a voice
    29:00 in a flash of light Saul changed to Paul and Paul changed the world
    29:45 Girl asked how can she succeed in law school and RS Pres
    32:16 Sometimes we can become diverted because hard things happen. Life is designed to take you to the wall where you will have to fight your way to growth- church doctrines and practices and for that matter challenges don't always come with explanatory footnotes but if we will be faithful observers of the workings of the spirit in our lives we can come to better respect the miracles that come to illuminate the tapestries of our testimonies and find courage to move forward in enlightened faith.
    33:00 Nephi recognizes the flashes of light
    34:30 Miracle of the sacrament

    Your mother and father are so proud of you. He is so awesome!!! When he was taking that break, he was my Sunday school teacher when I was like 13 or so. His family was in our ward and his dad was my bishop. We love their family so very much.

    It was a flash of light that I even opened this talk and listened to it. What a beautiful reminder of the Spirit's workings and of God's love. Thank you!
    P.S. 35:20 reminds me of President Nelson's prophecy that "Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory."

    40 uncertain decisions that he made. Those words are hard to fathom and hard to put into place in real life for yourself. The difficulty of enacting uncertain decisions sometimes is the most fearsome and questionable things that you can do. But apparently the blessings manifested themselves later on.

    I'm grateful I heard this talk! I came across it at a time when I truly needed it. I'm having a difficult time understanding why a prompting that was so vivid and a blessing on the verge of happening just disappeared. Now, I guess I'm waiting for a miracle. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers... and we'll see what happens. Regardless, my Heavenly Father has my back😊

    Wonderful perspective! I like your question 'What are the chances?' This can be asked of many of my own personal experiences, but also of so many experiences and events throughout history, including the restoration of the state of Israel and the return of the scattered tribes to the promised land, the similarities between Israel and the restored church, the Book of Mormon and linguistic similarities, temples, etc. What are the chances? 100% chance of divine flashes of light. 😉

    Sentir, diante de tudo que nos sucede é um grande privilégio. Fazer perguntas para o Pai Celestial e ter suavemente as respostas e mais ainda o Pai Celestial prova. Eu sei que Seu amor é a maior luz que pode existir, porque mesmo aqui podemos ainda senti-lo e isso faz e fará toda a diferença depois da parte de prepararem tudo, à vê-lo levantar-se

    It’s disappointing you called the coveralls Guy Korihor. He was just asking a legitimate question.

    • @angelavosti5604
      @angelavosti5604 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But was it a sincere question? We weren’t there. I know what it’s like to have someone ask a hard question just to trip me up.

    • @teresalinton5994
      @teresalinton5994 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I hear what you are saying. I think it was a knee jerk reaction, a natural man reaction, as it seems the question took him off.guard. He wanted to dismiss it and almost felt offended and called it inappropriate on so many levels. Maybe the tone was argumentative or challenging. I, like you, have a hope that it was sincere, almost childlike or without guile, even if it might have been a rough delivery. Sounds like Bro Lund yielded to the Spirit in that moment, despite his first reaction, to answer more earnestly and honestly in a way that acknowledged the question and this man, sincere or insincere, but didn’t force him to reveal any sacred experiences that would be inappropriate to answer. Brother Lund changed his response because of the Spirit and maybe this man felt known by God in a way that was very personal for him. And maybe the moment helped clarify the power of the experience for Brother Lund by having the opportunity to reflect on it and share it. God’s working on all of us all the time.

  • @ajboyle
    @ajboyle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    6:05 He called the guy Korihor? Really? Mocking him for coveralls? Why is it inappropriate to ask people their experiences with God?
    This talk downplays knowing Christ in power. The Lord does *not* ask us to walk in darkness. He commands us to turn to the light and become the light.
    Isaiah 50:11 talks about those who walk in "sparks" of light. They shall lie down in sorrow. This talk basically says that sparks are all we should expect, and near the end of the talk says that sparks in sacrament meeting are more powerful than the experiences of Moses, Paul, etc. REALLY?
    I'm working on knowing God in power. I'm not satisfied with flashes and sparks. Sorry--not buying this. The scriptures testify that God will give us more--even the first and second comforters.
    Cases in point: Lehi - 1 Ne 1. PILLAR OF FIRE. Not sparks. 1 Ne 11: Nephi - vision of the son of God. Jacob - saw Christ personally. Enos - spoke with God. People of King Benjamin - mass baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. Alma Sr, Alma Jr, Helaman, etc. etc. Massive power, massive light. Actual knowledge of God.
    Does the Book of Mormon or Bible ask us to walk in darkness, with only flashes of light?

      Not everyone is going to receive pillars of light. You get their by following sparks of light. Appreciate your insight.

    • @zinnia9052
      @zinnia9052 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should message him to express what you feel. I’m sure we can see more than flashes of light if we really work towards that and partner powerfully with God, but many are just trying to see some meaning and purpose through their lives…I think that is more of where Elder Lund was coming from. But I’m sure if you asked him he would be happy to get your perspective…
