Great video as always (and yes, Valentino Uomo is a fantastic fragrance). Sampling first is an underrated discipline. I find blind-buying tends to cause "forced appreciation" of a fragrance. You just spent $60 on it, so naturally, will find ways to try and like the fragrance to justify the purchase. Samples however are throwaway. So, when one pops up that really grabs your attention, it's more of an honest appraisal. Heeley Cardinal was one that really grabbed me (though I'm still yet to actually buy a bottle).
Exactly, well said, I have a box full of samples and decants I'm still wearing and wil last me a long time before I decide to purchase. Recently finished Soul by Costume National so I bought a bottle, thinking about a backup now
Great video as usual Ash! Two fragrances that I fell in love with after sampling are Dream Woods and By the Yuzu Grove, from your Galleria line. Love at first sniff! 👍
Some of my best buys came from samples. My local Dillard's usually load me up on samples. Best picks have been Tom Ford Noir Extreme, Tobacco Vanille both samples first and then your very own Cognac Café. I bought your sample kit 👌
I blindbuy alot of fragrances up to 50 € but my first scent I sampled 2 times was Bee from Zoologist. It was also my first really expensive parfume and I love it.
My most recent purchase after sampling was Memoirs of a trespasser from Imaginary authors. Loved it and had to buy it. Haven't found any other vanilla based fragrances that smell quite like it. I picked up an old book vibe within the fragrance if that makes any sense.
Love the Montale review. Like a description of Argentine Merlot. And I like the new background lighting. However, I believe purple - blue is your color. And yes, I'm an Ash-ronaut lol Edit: more purple for your skin tone.
Fantastic, always wondered if you sampled first, the sensible option is to sample and try in store, but it's waaaay more fun blind buying. Great video.
That being said, today I'm waiting for Tom Ford Noir Extreme That I blind buyed The mix of Indian and western notes is intriguing. I love real Kulfi ice cream so I hot high Hope's! 👍🏼
Love all of your videos! Thanks for the non stop A+ content. I think it would be interesting to see the opposite...samples that you thought you would love but instead it went south and you ended up really disliking the fragrance.

Honey Aoud for me too. I got an 8ml sample and ended up buying a 100ml bottle before I even used the sample up. Here's a bit of an obscure one. Hugo Boss Energise. I got a 2-3ml sample of that and had to get a bottle. I think it's an underrated and overlooked fragrance.
as soon as i got my nostrils around ysl tuxedo i fell in love....clichéd but aswell creed aventus was love at first sniff, i couldnt get enough of it, dior homme parfume, chanel blanche addition etc.......lol
Purchased a sample of Ultra Male. Took it to work, both myself and a friend tried, and loved it. We both said right then " one day we will get a bottle " and over a year later I purchased x2 from Fragrance X. (1 each lol)
The fragrance that I fell for from a sample was Galloway by PDM. I don't know what it is about it, but I really enjoy wearing it. Especially around the summertime.
Background Blue is your jam, Ash! I don't know if you've heard of this one yet... but the one that got me from a sample is Victorian Tobacco by Galleria Parfums! It's the bomb, bro! Somehow seriously underrated still!
I blind buy most of my fragrances, based on TH-cam videos usually. I sample things, but have only bought one thing that I sampled and likes. Burberry Brit. I know it's not super popular, but I still really like that fragrance. There are a few that I plan to buy based on sampling though. YSL Y edp, Polo Red edp, Hermann from Etat Libre De Orange (I'm sure I spelt that wrong), and Amur Leopard by Sanctuary (if it ever actually comes out).
Actually I guess I bought Dior Savauge off of sample also. Because my story is exactly like yours. An issue of GQ, I believe, came in the mail and I flipped up the little tab and gave it a smell and instantly knew I wanted it. It just took over 5 years for me to stop being too cheap to get it.
The last one that caught me by surprise from a "toss-in" sampler was from Etat Libre d'Orange, Vierges et Toreros - which is tuberose, leather and spices and one that wasn't even on my radar, but I wore it 3-4 times from the carded sample and could not buy it fast enough.
I usually blind buy. Try to get the first impression videos and all that. I did fall in love with Green Leather by sampling it though. One of the few I’ve sampled first.
You should do a top 100 of every different subject you've done for top tens and shoot it all in one go. Hundreds of top 100 videos, 48 straight hours of top 100s
Which one to use in SUMMER(lots of sweat) in these conditions for 8-12 hours : a. INDOOR GYM, NO Air Conditioning(FANS only). b. OUTDOOR GYM, with quite of sand dust.
I was thinking to myself...yeah he loves everything pretty much so understandable, BUT then I thought a better video would be the ones you sampled and did not buy. I mean you got about 10,000 bottles, so it should be a pretty short list :)
In my country, alot more companies are offering samples now, so there's less of a need to blind buy every day - used to be designer samples were the hardest to come by - not anymore
A top ten that’s never been done before (atleast I’ve never come across it), surprisingly, I ask myself about this everytime I look into a new cologne: “10 Scents Better On Clothes vs On Skin”
@@felnuts1 🤔🤔 I just purchased that one as well. On skin for me high heat keeps the dry down citrusy woodsy like the opening but other than that, it mends into this artificial creamy scent I’m not a fan of. On clothes, it remains the same scent all the way through. I 100% agree
🤣 that's not at all what happened. OP did do the original Dior Homme while working as a perfumer at I.F.F for Dior, but when Valentino uomo was released Francois Demachy had already long been the in house perfumer at Christian Dior. Also what is Olivia just roaming around freelance with formulas in his briefcase trying to personally sell them to people 🤔 that's not how it works. Please don't make up complete nonsense in your head and go around telling people like it's fact.
Have to blind buy the cheapies, aren't in the stores anymore to sample, too old. And I have, and I've given away more than I've kept, which I don't mind when they're $20 a pop.
To be honest with you, I blind bought most of my fragrances based on your recommendations 😎 and i can say that so far I haven’t been disappointed. ✌️

My favorite sampled, then purchases were PLR Carbon, Boucheron pour homme, and Jacomo de Jacomo.

fragrances I bought because of samples:
Individuel by Montblanc (back in 2010)
Infinite Celtic Ultimate by Charriol (in 2019)
