The peakless hoods (e.g. the montane design) work really well for people who run with peaked caps.
Thanks for this, I agree, I always run with a visor and it makes a great peak for a hood in those more lightweight emergency style jackets with elastic around the face. I just wish more would leave space for a ponytail! :)

I’ve been using my Arcteryx Norvan SL jacket (shakedry) since 2017. Still the best super lightweight waterproof I have ever owned. For multi day adventures I do turn to the ‘ordinary’ Norvan jacket, which is just a bit less minimalistic in ‘ordinary’ Goretex, but gives me a bit more trust in being a bit better to withstand abuse. Nice test!

+1 on the shake dry jacket. A real game changer. Seems to be disconnected now(2022+). Probably because it was a very light, fragile fabric that needed to babied.

In our mandatory kit jackets need to be seam sealed. Any of these seemed sealed?

Serious weather is a challenge for lightweight jackets that pupport to be for ultras (which typically take place in areas with challenging weather!
I bought the Inov8 Stormshell which fits and looks great. Would be perfect for scattered showers but I found the Pertex wet out very quickly.
Also, where I run on the hills, the wind can be extreme and freeze you. It wasnt a sufficient barrier.
Sent it back and bought a Hagloff Goretex Paclite + which was perfect!
My jacket before the Inov8 was also goretex and performed similarly to the Hagloff.
Unless its Summer in really wouldnt go for a Pertex jacket
I agree, I'd go for a full on 3-layer jacket for proper weather. These are just in case jackets.
