I was 9 years old in 1967 when my dad bought a brand new '67Buick Le Sabre with a 400 cu. in. V8,sky blue metallic color, and was his first new car as a celebration of Canada's 100th year since Confederation!
It costed between six or seven thousand Canadian dollars when our money was worth something,
almost par with the U.S. We rented a Starcraft tent trailer for a
3 week holiday camping trip for a
      whopping rental fee of $75.00!
And my dad said that even back then that was a bargain, and didn't break the bank! Gasoline on an empty tank which held 20 imperial gallons ( U.S. Gallons are smaller) costed $10.00 to fill! Those were the best years of my life until the '80's and onwards!

    ew no console

      What's wrong with no console?
One beautiful luxurious wide chesterfield of a bench seat that would accommodate four across illegally, or 3 legally with seat belts optionally worn back then of course, and without a console I would reach over with my foot on the gas pedal, with my dad's permission of course, and that was my first driving lesson before my dad let me drive on the highway at 13 years of age so that he could read the maps!
I was a bit scared at first, but my dad encouraged me by saying that any idiot can drive an automatic! After a mile or so I felt comfortably confident! At age 18 my driving instructor said "This isn't your first rodeo, is it?"
And didn't even bother testing me on my parking skills, and passed me right there and then, all thanks to my dad, my first crash course driving instructor who is a young 92 years of age today!
