I like your videos because it's raw without all that professional editing and music in the background. Also you've got a good heart, always polite to everybody.
At 18.10 the girl showed the direction and said you can follow the water pipe upwards from their home and then the old lady said ‘maybe you can’t go because it’s too much jungle.’ Then the boy said you can walk down and when you meet the water stream you can go stream upwards. I think they gave two very clear directions about how to get there but the Wonderboy didn’t tell you that. Maybe he didn’t want to climb so he followed your directions.
The potential guide at 43:00 is very genuine. He could have taken your money to guide you, but he was very concerned about your safety. Btw, the types of guys you met at the end who go to a remote beautiful place just to get wasted are usually the ones who'd get drunk and leave garbage and bottles around, ruining the place. :-(

Your local friend is more tourist than you are, apart from the fact that he knows the local language. You motivated him to as much that you guys have done until the end. Sure the refreshing swim after wandering amid the woods would have been refreshing.
You cannot hike lakegala without a guide mate. Its easy to find people who are familiar with the track in that village. If you can, go to the knuckles mountains from Matale. Then start the hike there. Follow the waterfalls, stay overnight at waterfall top or at many inhabitable caves like 'Alugallena'. Then hike down to meemure through jungle and climb Lakegala. That would be an adventure of lifetime
Another great video Dale! I'm watching this very early in the morning on the east coast of the United States. And laughing out loud when you're making comments about Jeremy taking a dump. LOL! And then saying he may be dead because he didn't respond to your calls. It feels good to laugh out loud at the TH-cam video. And one of my favorite parts, of course, when you were eating at the beginning of the video and said you were making a mess. I so much enjoy the 'drop the food' videos. LOL. Good to see you guys losing the shoes once in awhile, and enjoying a Barefoot hike or walk. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to the next release!

8:11 Just a word of advice, if you are given some side dish to dip in to then help yourself to some in to your plate and then dip in to it rather than using the side dish bowl to dip into. In India and Sri Lanka if you are served a curry in a bowl then it is for the whole table and the guests are expected to help themselves to some curry in to their plates and then dip/consume it rather than using the bowl to do so. Wonderboy should have known about this and should have told you. As you can see the Driver did not touch the side dish out of politeness.

Dale!..... I absolutely loved watching this video and so far the most enjoyable adventure yet as you guys went off the beaten track!!!... very brave but the trip was not a failure for not climbing that mountain, just think of it as a practise trek in preparation for the real climb! ... love that you really love Sri Lankan food! (wadai made from large lentils sometimes comes with a prawn on top and is called isso (prawn) wadai... ulundhu wadai is like a donut and served with a green chilli paste!)... I love coconut roti with katta sambal (red chilli paste)... the other things looked like godamba roti to me and not parathas! (they are stretchy and thrown into the air to be made like Italians do with pizzas!)... the English spelling is not good in rural areas so "thosay" was dhosai (Tamil pancake made from urid dahl)... these days I'm over cautious and worry about eating from these shacks where food is served by ungloved hands and not utensils! ... but these are villages and not 5 star hotels... my father used to take me on adventures like this and we went totally unprepared hiking in shorts and flip flops and getting bitten and scratched, yet I've never suffered from anything in SL!...my immune system built up as I'm sure yours has too by now?....my father told me a story about a whole bullock cart with a man and bull that sank into quick sand and disappeared for good in his region!!!... you definitely need a guide to take you up that mountain as the villagers know the terrain, creatures, climate and weather... it can get treacherous and you need to climb at dawn so you can get back down by dusk to avoid danger!... always pack a cap, sunglasses, sunblock, tissues, bottle of drinking water, packet of boiled sweets, Savlon cream (for bites and scratches by insects and wild plants), a torch and lighter, some band aid plasters!.... no tigers in Sri Lanka!!! 😂🤣😅... but we have a species of leopard that is indigenous to SL... don't think they exist in that region!... also the world's smallest wild cat (shown on BBC recently!) exists in the jungles of SL and is the size of a new born domestic kitten!.... for climbs like this invest in trousers that can zip off into shorts, of course always wear trainers and to avoid leeches wear long trousers tucked into your socks!... yeah it will be hot but until you are safe... wear light coloured or white T shirts to keep you cooler as they repel mosquitos... there's a big problem with dengue at the moment (mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water).... I always stick up for Jeremy but he needs to give you the full translations of what the locals are saying to keep you updated!... and he went for a cakka!!! 😂🤣😅 ...that is the Sinhala which is also used in Europe!.... internationally recognised word!!! I've enjoyed watching your video's Dale. Some good travel tips along the ways. Just getting there and wandering around in the countryside, is the adventure. Love the shots and shape of that mountain in the distance. Laughed at "whose that ghost coming". From Canada.
You guys are crazy fun.. Going off to climb a mountain with no preparation LMAO.. The swim looked very refreshing. I think Jeremy was over it at the end, he hung with you all the way though.. Peace..
When you plan on hiking up a tropical mountain it’s a good idea to bring frozen water, protein snacks, a fire starter and robust portable meals. I’d feel a lot safer with a kukri as well.
@Dale Lakegala is a difficult hike mate. You have to plan the hike in advance to do that. And, even if you have a plan there's a chance of failure. Me and a bunch of my pals attempted it in 2010 and we have failed it cos of several reasons. We had a guide alright. But there's a point in the climb you'll need ropes which we didn't have or at least the one we had was not long enough. Then we ran out of water. It is also quite energy zapping cos the some parts of the hike is almost vertical. The route you took was completely off. You have to kinda go round the mountain first to climb it.
Not only you got strong legs but you got guts hiking like that. I was kinda worried when you guys go in without some equipment or food/drinks. I'm waiting for more adventures. Meanwhile i will continue to catch up to your old which i haven't finish watching.

You guys took some major risk getting lost in that jungle. Wouldn't recommend doing that again.
I watched every second of the Video .
Man I wonder how that Mountain made it's formation.
Wooow meemure 😍😍 just remembered my good old days in there.and also that house u'd ask directions, that's the house we stayed in our trip to meemure. 😍😍

I've enjoyed watching your video's Dale. Some good travel tips along the ways. Just getting there and wandering around in the countryside, is the adventure. Love the shots and shape of that mountain in the distance. Laughed at "whose that ghost coming". From Canada.
u again in srilanka🤩 love that u love our country
You guys are crazy fun.. Going off to climb a mountain with no preparation LMAO.. The swim looked very refreshing. I think Jeremy was over it at the end, he hung with you all the way though.. Peace..
Hahahaha the good old golden rule 20:18 , You don't have to be faster than the Leopard, just faster than your friend
Yes, lol
Thanks for taking us along your tour it was awesome!
So beautiful landscape Dale & Wonderboy weather here in Scotland is shit for the last 3 months☹️ please send some sun🏴
a bit ambitious there Dale, that wiz nae Arthurs seat( lol), enjoyed the video
Not only you got strong legs but you got guts hiking like that. I was kinda worried when you guys go in without some equipment or food/drinks. I'm waiting for more adventures. Meanwhile i will continue to catch up to your old which i haven't finish watching.
Wonder boy's wondering where he is I think. You've definitely out paced him alright. I'm surprised you didn't come across

I watched the whole video, it's very lucky you decided to went back and found that lady. I do a bit of survivalist, it's not a good idea to enter the woods without at least some bottled water.
