The biggest thing to take away from this video is that most of the ppl reviewing them have these items gifted to them. They aren’t buying every single one of them and breaking the bank. It’s easier for them to recommend the items when they aren’t actually spending the coins.

this is the biggest thing that tiktokkers will ignore. most of these products are also more expensive than they should be BECAUSE of how much is sent to influencers for free

Exactly! And that’s why I don’t take reviews or recommendations seriously if they don’t state they bought it with their own money!

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. (Revelation 3:15-18) you cannot live for this world and not try to stop sinning (being cold) and only believing in God(hot) without turning from sin or sinning and saying God will forgive you after or not read the Bible, pray, worship/obeying God. Which is being a lukewarm. If we are neither cold or hot, God will spit us out his mouth.

I think it goes even deeper than aesthetic; I think it's consumerism, influence culture and above all a *status symbol* to have these products just chillin on your dresser/vanity table or in tiktok videos. just like with food, we all eat with our eyes first, but I think part of it is that the influencers themselves are very conventionally attractive and that gives us a false sense of "if I buy these, I can be hot/pretty too" just like with Victoria's Secret. It's about status, desirability and likeability. It's hard to relate to these people anymore because many of us are having to choose between groceries or a phone or even a place to sleep and having these products makes people feel some sort of normalcy but I think that's a different topic for a different day. Welcome to my TedTalk.

that last part hit different. internalizing the fact that none of us are immune to influence or marketing helps fight against that draw toward consumerism for comfort. not only does it hurt the planet, but it hurts those who can't really afford it the most.

heavy on the idea of it being a status symbol! honestly i didn’t realize it until i saw that i was doing it to - i tended to put my more expensive items out front so they can be seen. but this is so much worse for influencers because their whole brand is to influence and make others believe their life is glamorous 😭

they definitively are trying to profit off of the "non-toxic/natural" trend. Meanwhile our skin can benefit a lot from chemicals (which pretty much everything is made out of anyway). I have experience formulating skincare products and I gotta say, most of the products out there have little to no benefit for the skin. For example, the popular Mielle rosemary and peppermint hair oil contains cheap carrier oils that are not similar to the natural oil your hair produces. I have been making my own rosemary and peppermint oil which stimulates blood flow and directly contributes to hair growth. Rosemary oil is as efficient as minoxidil, a popular hair growth agent, and it's one of the few oils that dermatologists recommend for hair health and growth. Also; 10:53; Extracts have no scent, so the scent cannot come from the extract. The dew drops, contain a large amount of fragrance which is not good for the facial skin. I would recommend people to do their research and learn more about skincare because TONS of brands are literally deceiving us.

This is completely true! As a Korean, I've been seeing more and more skincare and beauty videos on my FYP. However, one thing that I've noticed is a prominent theme of either being "rich" or "aesthetic" when many of the products people slap on their faces don't work. I've seen probably hundreds of GURWMs and nighttime routines full of expensive, Sephora products that are completely useless and unnecessarily expensive. It's not even a routine for their skin, it's a routine to show off how much money they have to the public.

Jsyk, Chlorophyll water isn't actually chlorophyll since actual chlorophyll cannot mix into water. Good video though! As a skincare junkie myself, I've noticed a lot of people trying products based solely off the aesthetic of them. That used to be me early on when I was getting into skincare but after awhile, you realize that what works for others doesn't mean it will work for your skin or even target the areas that you want to see improvement in.

we’re about the same age (i’m 21) and i also have ADHD, depression, etc. but i shower 2 times a week at best, have never been able to consistently brush my teeth for the past 10 years now-had a root canal and 2 crowns at 19 years old + many more fillings; back in fall 2022 i was at the dentist multiple times a month to get my teeth figured out because i could hardly chew anything without pain. i also feel like i can’t do my skincare consistently due to my compulsive skin picking because not looking in the mirror or touching my face for extended periods of time (which you have to do for skincare) helps me not pick even if it’s marginal
i’m glad you were able to get yourself out of that /gen. i wish these things weren’t so hard to do because i love wearing makeup and stuff and am embarrassed by my acne, acne scars, and, frankly, bright yellow teeth-i wouldn’t wish this on most people 💔

I use alum powder and aloe vera as deodorant, I replaced all the store bought oils with jojoba oil (sometimes infused with prickly pear flower) and / or shae butter if I need something thicker, I've been downsizing on anything skincare and makeup and try to keep it to a minimim, I also try to buy from small local skincare businesses for things like hyaluronic acid and vitamin c serums, I got a big tub of stabilised aloe vera pulp that's meant to be drank, but I put it in a spray bottle and use it to refresh myself during summer and as a toner!

Not sure if I share the same level of excitement for the Rare Beauty lip oil because I've heard people say it's more like a true lip tint which you can find very, very cheap from Korean brands that I have used for decades (I use them on my cheeks too, they're amazing).
As someone who has sensitive and chapped lips, I can attest that the Clarins lip oil lives up to the hype. I've been using it for a while and it really made a difference on my lips. Plus, it doesn't burn my throat like most commercial lip balms I've tried and it adds a bit of colour and amazing glossiness. The only downside is they don't last too long, especially if you're eating.

also, i agree with you 100%, but i think the main, *main* reason many influencers don’t regularly use (or don’t show that they do) the products they give a good review on is because they’re always getting new makeup and they literally do not have the time in the world to use all of them yk?

In my humble opinion, the Elasti Cream is DEFINITELY worth the hype. I got a small $22 bottle of it for Christmas last year and haven’t even gotten 1/2 through it (since I use it pretty sparingly). Sure, the bigger bottle is a little bit more on the pricey side of things for body cream but it’s worth it. As a woman who owns BOTH BR540 and Ariana Grande’s Cloud, I can honestly say that it reminds me more of Cloud than BR540. BR540 is a very woodsy, mature scent and Cloud is very much sweet and girly. Elasti Cream has a lot of sugary notes in it, and sugary notes always constitute for some people claiming it smells bad or like plastic. It’s all up to everyone’s personal preference on scents, and also their body chemistry- since no two scents will smell the same on different individuals. My favorite way to wear the Elasti Cream is to add it with my unscented aloe Vera gel for extra hydration. Then I go in with a few sprays of Cloud, Pink Sugar by Aquolina, the Elasti Cream’s matching perfume (Cheirosa ‘68). And sometimes, if I’m feeling especially crazy, I’ll layer on Island Vanilla by Pacifica. 😍 This combination of layers is POWERFUL and long lasting… I’ve literally had strangers and coworkers stop and ask me what I’m wearing because I smell so good!! 🤭 I only do this routine if I’m feeling feminine and cute, otherwise I’m breaking out the musk and earth notes. 😂

Hyaluronic acid is good if you are in a humid climate as it draws moisture into your skin...however if you are in dry climate the only moisture to draw is in your skin, which means it will pull moisture out of your skin. One thing you can do is use in the shower and layer with hydrating products that literally contain water.

I love your personality, your editing style, and you are absolutely stunning! As a “mature” (old, late 30s) lady, I take my time with deciding on purchases. I filter through reviews and I weigh the opinions of content creators who bought the items themselves heavier than ones who were gifted the products for sure. When I saw SJD 68 on your thumbnail, I had to comment and say I went on a journey with that scent. I didn’t get the hype at first. It was off putting to me when I first sprayed it. I didn’t like it at all. Kinda like BBW In the Stars, I didn’t get it. However, it grew on me. My nose started to appreciate the notes and now I crave the scent. I use it once in a while to savor it and layer it with other body care fragrances. I only trust fragrance reviews that stress the importance of trying it first on your skin before you buy it because it is so wasteful and expensive to blind buy before testing out a perfume. Never buy into hype and make sure you really want and/or need a product before spending more than you have to. Also… it is true that the scent of SDJ body creams project like perfumes. They’re worth the money. I don’t get a ton of compliments when I wear a fragrance but whenever I have, it was mostly when I wore a Sol de Janeiro body cream and/or the mist layered with it or with another scent. The pricing is fair for the quality you get.

I tried the Gisou hair perfume and oil and hated both of them. They smell awful and I have thick hair but the oil weighed down my hair. I’ll stick to my lightly scented olaplex I’ve used for the past like 5 years

@@makeupdoll7413 it smells like artificial flowers and like a weird honey. I sprayed the perfume in my hair when I first got it and it gave me a migraine. My whole family hated the smell too. @makeupdoll7413 to me they both smell like a basic powdery slightly sweet floral scent, as far as expensive hair oils go I prefer the oribe hair oil I feel like it works better and didn't just sit on top of my hair... most of these expencive things can be find elsewhere for so much cheaper. I use a hair oil from Garnier that costs like what 3/4 euros? (oil to put everyday on the lengths) and it smells good, works perfectly and I can find it in my supermarket. It's like that with everything. Okay maybe it's not aesthetic blabla but why care? These dollars you save can be used to go to a restaurant you love, to buy a super cool book you wanted to read, to save in your "emergency" savings etc and that is so much more important than having that gisou bottle or whatever that will end up in the landfill too and won't be trendy in 1 to 2 years

i have the rare beauty liquid and solid blush and the lip oil and i love all the products, they’re very pigmented, especially the liquid blush. i use the solid one when i’m rushing because it blends extremely well with the finger (i would recommend the liquid one more tho cause it gives you a fresher look).
my only criticism is that you need to blend the liquid blush quickly because otherwise it’ll stain your skin.
and the lip oil is for my taste too lightweight, i like to have a thick formula but that’s personal preference. i also got a light shade but i think i would like a darker one a lot more. only other thing is that over time, the oil builds up and the edges of your lips and it’ll look as though you applied lip liner (essentially its not a bad look, i would just like it to be even instead of it going to the edges)

My skin is glowy and plum and people been asking me what i use.
Honestly with the rise of these skincares, the prices are high as well. I would suggest just buy luxury ones with just the same price or even little bit more( you get more and even more luxurious ingredients)
I use mostly chanel or dior with a bit of shiseido and cheap korean ones.
And i must say they do better job. And im more secure to know that my face with age better.
My mom has been using a lot of chanel or dior in her skincare and she has such a great skin until this day. So i know it works.
But we dont know how these influencer products are and how they will sit in the skin for years and years to come.

Self-care is your own version of a healthy lifestyle though, it isn’t this TikTok it girl aesthetic. And your quote on quote healthy lifestyle cant just be healthy things every single day without anything unhealthy. Healthy lifestyles can never be healthy without unhealthy days.

I got a trial gisou kit that had the hair mask, oil, and perfume. The oil is nice but the bottle leaks even when standing up somehow, the perfume is just a plain slightly sweet powdery floral scent so if you really like than maybe get it. The hair mask was my favorite i have really fine hair and it was perfectly moisturizing but didnt weight my hair down. I'd probably never buy these at full price tho maybe the hair mask as a treat.

1.) I LOVE the Gisou hair oil, because it’s the ONLY hair oil that doesn’t make my hair look greasy. It works great and makes it look shiny. But I haven’t heard the greatest things about their other products. So I haven’t even tried the other things. But might I add, I got the full size Gisou for Christmas 2 years ago, it still works great, still smells great, and I still have the original container. I really only need to use it once a week. It lasts me a long time.
2.) I’ve always refused to use anything Glow recipe. I always heard fragrance is bad to have in your skincare facial products so I try to limit this, and I just now learn that glow recipe doesn’t have fragrance? The fragrance comes from extracts? So I’m gonna have to pick up some samples and try this then because I’m actually curious now.
3.) I will hype up Sol de Janeiro daily. It is my favorite perfume and lotion. It smells fantastic and feels amazing. I’ve never used the Elasticream so I don’t know about that. I love their perfumes and I use their bum bum cream and Brightening Cream every day.
4.) Rare Beauty is amazing. I love all of her products. The lip oil lasts for a long time. The matte red lip stain has lasted on my lips for over 24 hours. I have a mini of her liquid blush and it has lasted me SO LONG. Her concealer, foundation, and powder is so nice. It works so nice. Not a fan of the liquid eyeliner but that’s just based on personal preference, it’s still a fantastic product. The mascara is my favorite mascara. I bought it for the first time when Selena first launched rare beauty. I ran out once and bought an $8 mascara from Walmart and my eyes were ITCHY. I don’t use any other mascara now. And her ‘Find Comfort’ collection…..GIRL. I basically handed Selena Gomez my wallet right then and there. I have all the find comfort products. The body and hair mist, the lotions, the body wash, the fragrance pen, I love the scents so much. I will hype up Rare Beauty any day. The products are made with quality ingredients, the packaging is biodegradable and recycled. I will always stop to talk about Rare Beauty. Quality products right there. And to think I only tried the products to begin with because I liked Selena.
