I lend you my hobie outback and you can try paddling up steam in it. ps A mate and I went to a Mitta canoe club meeting a few years back thinking of joining and got the cold shoulder so we never have gone back.
My Dagger drifter fishing kayak is a lot harder to paddle upstream at Albury but it's a hell of a lot more stable! i have paddled it from Diamond Park to the Shortcut a couple of times after work this year then fished on the way downstream it's top speed is only half the speed of the K1. Sorry to hear about your experience at the meeting, i am a member and i have found everyone in the club quite approachable, if you look on their website in the description they are always looking for new members.
Awesome work there mate... Well done!!!
