Always on the lookout for crepey lid friendly eyeshadows, taking a look at the Dior reformulation of their classic 5-pan palette, 5 Couleurs. So many beautiful color stories to choose from, but I couldn't resist "Soft Cashmere."

The eye look you created is extremely flattering. I just bought this quint online & was happy to see your review. I want the Natasha Denona palette but the fact that it’s $87 in Canada has caused me to hesitate. I hope your heat soon subsides as well as the wildfires. Thank you.
I just found your channel with this video and I'm delighted to be a new subscriber. Fantastic to learn there are other alternatives to the ND Glam palette (aside from the same ones other YTers have been all saying); I do think I already have all the shades in other palettes, but this Dior quint looks quite handy for on-the-go situations. And I have been on the lookout for eyeshadows recommended by Lisa Eldridge as "minky" shades, if you know what I mean; these are along those lines. Just so you know, while I was watching this video, I kept wanting to pause it to comment it is such a pleasure to see a lovely, elegant person who likes talking about makeup here on YT. XO Julie

My eyelids are very similar. When I was younger and my face was fuller, my eyes almost looked Asian. Now you can see my upper lid more, but I still classify as hooded. It would be nice to do all the eyeshadow looks people with a crease can do, but I love my eyes and have learned what looks best. I have the Dior Tutu quint, like that the colors are soft and the shimmer not glittery. The formula is very flattering, and when I’m in a hurry, I know the shades will all look great together. Thinking about getting Cashmere too, esp while Sephora is having their holiday sale.

This « quint » looks a lot like the Tom Ford Nude Dip. Looks very classy on you. Ideal for executive/professional environment.
I've never seen it in person, but just looking online, it Nude Dip seems warmer than Soft Cashmere.
Nooo you’ve got to get Nude dip. You would absolutely love it. It’s not warm at all. It’s a must have for people like us who like neutral cools with great formulas.
The lip colour you are wearing is also great for imparting elegance.

Thank you for the review -I'm 55 and love seeing the demonstrations on more mature eyes. This seems like a great palette for me! What eye shadow brushes do you use?

The new Rose Metal (I think it’s called?) palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills is very nice. The shadow formula seems to have improved in their last two palettes, and the colors are beautiful for fall
Would you be able to do identical looks using the Dior on one eye and the ND Glam on the other eye? It would help me - and other viewers, I think - decide definitively which palette to buy.

Just ordered this and also the Denim (even though not a complete pallet in my book, but I have grey Viseart matte to blend into the crease), and the Pink one. I also have the Soft Glam, but I already know I have too much, since I am an eyeshadow hoarder ( OKA passionate about eyeshadow 🤣😂)
I have hooded eyes and use Too Faced glitter glue for my lids, for shimmer/ fine glitter shadows every time, right before application, on top of my primed and baked eyelids, to begin with. I am older but still have an oil slick face and eyelids. Anyway, no transfer!!!!!

I am fortunate to live in a naturally cool house, despite lack of air conditioning.
Even if you live in a condo, if you have a medical necessity letter, from your doctor, they have to let you get it.
I lived in a really hot condo, on the third floor, and was going to do that, but I ended up moving. The board was awful and would try to deny everything.

The word is quintet or quint for short. It’s A beautiful cool to neutral brown assortment. I have a lot of similar shades scattered throughout several pallets so I don’t know if this would add anything new to my collection. I’m kind of getting into luxury eyeshadows versus high end and then mixing them with something from a lower price point like maybe Colourpop or a drugstore brand. There is something to say about the uniqueness of many luxury eyeshadows. It may not be the color story but the finish and the blend ability combine four a really special experience. Now that I’ve seen your video I’m very curious about this quintet.

Exactly, the look is just so pretty! I was thinking of you all last week about the a/c. I had the same heat here, plus the smoke. As a last resort, have you ever considered the portable a/c's? They are very efficient, but they do need to be vented out of a window with the hoses they come from. You can see them on Home Depot, etc. I had one several years ago in my other place. You can take the hose in and out of the window within minutes, but I'm not sure how long the hoses are if you need to reach too high. Just a thought. P.S., I had a kidney stone years ago from exercising in a hot apartment. I think I was dehydrated from the heat and the exercise. Sorry I'm being a nag about this, but I can't stand to know someone has to suffer through the heat. My heart goes out to those in the fire zones. I had to evacuate 2 years ago, so I know how scary it all is.
I can't imagine how frightening it is to be evacuated! Re portable, it just would work here because the bedroom is french doors & a small window above the bed. The window/french door situation is difficult for a hose. I just know I'm going to have a few days/weeks of being very uncomfortable!
@@TheHoodedLid I had all my makeup in my getaway bag. Collectively cost more than my family heirlooms, lol I had to stay away for 8 days. I didn't want to leave but then when it was raining ash on me, I left. Was lucky my place still here when I was allowed to come back.

how do you not have AC?!?! I grew up in the Bay Area and never had AC. I moved to Idaho at 33 years old and now I can't deal with anything over 95 without AC. Maybe it's age, I'm 57, or acclamation to this climate. I've turned into a sissy. My mom live in Discovery Bay, in the Easy Bay, and no matter how hot it get there's always a little wind. p.s. your voice is very calming..and you're gorgeous!
I'm not too happy over 95, either. But most of the year it's pretty mild - we just have two months that are very hot.
After quad, there is "quint" i think. Red lipstick becomes you. By the way, besides the comments on the makeup itself, or the tutorials, which i like, or the colors, can you tell us more about the wear of the product throughout the day, i mean generally speaking. Because one can be disappointed even by high end brands: sometimes pigment is good, but wear is weak. If you see what a mean. I see you've hit 1k subscribers. Kudos! 😎
I know what you mean about shadows falling off, but the wear on this new formula is solid. Being hooded, there's a lot of "rub" on the lid area, but the shadows didn't rub off like some formulas of Natasha Denonas do wear away for me. Thanks for the congrats on hitting 1k. I excited and grateful people are starting to find me!

I could tell you how they used to treat bottomed- out blood sugar, but you wouldn’t believe me. It involved cake icing. 😳😳😳

I LOVE cake icing - lol. This wasn't much different, it was a sugar pill/wafer. Just a few minutes after take a bite of it I felt myself again. This happened so long ago, I don't remember the detail, but my blood pressure was extremely low. Is "bottomed out blood sugar" reglated to blood pressure?
The Hooded Lid It could relate, depending on how your body reacts.
They didn’t put the icing in the mouth. When someone’s blood sugar drops quickly, they’ll pass out, and therefore can’t have meds orally. 😳
Nurses also used to treat DT with beer. Wild times. I’m glad I wasn’t a nurse then.
