I also hate change!! Best advice I’ve ever heard it’s make lots of friends!!!! People think when everyone’s doing their when things is impedes your ability to make friends but that’s totally not the case, and you should always try to meet as many people as possible and make lots of friends!

Hi Nelle, I enjoyed that. Brought back happy memories of when I used to do sign language translation. Just one suggestion for next time. Point the camera down a bit. There were times when your hands were barely in the frame, yet you still had a fair bit of frame available above your head. The subtitles were great. I hope you have a great year at Uni.

Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. You're 100% right about the camera, I noticed it when I was doing the subtitles. I filmed a video today (which should be going up in the next few days) and I think I have a better camera angle for that one.

Glad to see that the move-in went okay! A few of my flatmates decided on privacy curtains in those halls- they're nice buildings but you can end up nose to nose with a random fresher. Good luck with your first week of 2nd year lectures! - Soph

All the best for your studies. Wait till your friends hear you sing Nightwish, they will be blown away. Take care and stay safe,

Thanks, I'm hoping this will be a good year. I'm not going to subject my friends to my musical pursuits, I seriously doubt they would appreciate it.

Hi nelle💐thank you for captioning your video's & the transcript helps no end! To be honest with you even if you had spoken on this video my hearing has got to the stage where maybe i can pick one out of 5 words if i am lucky! I have an appointment with audiology on the 6th oct its my first face to face in nearly 2 yrs,i need new earmoulds, any suggestions for a stand out colour? So probably a hearing test then i hope a CI referral as you have taught me so much since your CI,good luck at UNI & your new room & room mates,i hope you pass what your studying with flying colours!
You have come so far in such a short space of time,to be able to sign a whole video is something you should be very proud of! Do you think you will ever stop being verbal if you mix with more deaf people?
As for being autistic its a part of who you are & if people dont accept you for who you are then they are not worth knowing! Its taken me over 30yrs to show my hearing aids & to face the fact i am deaf! Plus the doctors confirmed i am on the autistic spectrum,i dont like change or big groups, thats why i always tried to avoid family gatherings! I avoided going out for meals! So like you at UNI where its another stepping stone for future employment, october could be the start of a new deaf adventure for me! I hope you soon get enough money to implant your other ear & improve your quality of life! Your a nice person 💖💖

Thank you for your comment. I'm very pleased with how my BSL is coming along so far, but I still have a long way to go.
For me personally, maintaining my speech is important to me since with my lifestyle I spend most of my time with hearing people who don't sign. I'd love some more deaf friends and to get more involved in the deaf community, but that would always be in addition to the friends that I have already not a replacement. Also, being able to speak clearly and lipread and use my CI gives me a lot more freedom to do things when I don't have access to a Sign Language interpreter.
I would never want anyone else to be ashamed of their autism and to hide it. I'm trying to get more confident with telling people why I may seem different and how they can support me, but it's a slow process. I don't know why I have an issue with it because in general the people I spend time with are very accepting and I'm sure they would be fine with it, it's just an internal thing.
As for what colour earmolds to go for, I would definitely avoid green, yellow, or orange because I feel like those might look kind of dirty or mouldy. I think glitter earmolds can be a bit hit or miss, sometimes they look super cool, sometimes they're a bit underwhelming. I'd choose pink, purple, blue, or a neutral like black which is quite a statement but still goes with everything.
Good luck with getting your CI referral and I hope that goes well for you. Thank you very much for your donations to my Cochlear implant. I very much appreciate it.
      Nelle:)

You should never feel embarrassed of who you are.
    Good luck with your studies.

No, I really shouldn't and I would say the same to anyone else in my situation. It's just a weird internalised issue that I have that I'm working on. Thank you for wishing me luck. :)
