An option to make it sink is to build the ship ribs out of concrete 3. After that it comes down to the size and quantity of ribs to balance it so it sinks. This is assuming that the grenade doesn't destroy T3 concrete. As for lag I'm not sure how to fix that unless scrape mechanic gets chapter 3 released but we don't even know when chapter 2 is coming

Yeah, jettisoning the cargo, furniture, fixtures, and any section of gunwale you can kick free is a very important part of keeping your ship afloat in an emergency irl... well, at least when they were made with wood. Having the ballast on a submerged bilge deck and unbreakable could help the ships be sinkable, or going for a narrower ship and taller ballast and destroying it could cause the ship to roll for an interesting dynamic besides sinking.

If you're able to logic some amount of random in there, you should make a kind of "Russian Roulette" speef. I don't know if you grew up with the pirate in a barrel game, but the concept is you stick plastic knives into this barrel with a pirate character in it and one of them triggers the pirate to jump out. You do a mix of the two where you're firing a mounted spud gun at switches and the spud gun also has a randomizer of if it will or won't fire each round and so it becomes an ordeal of are you even going to shoot and even after that will you hit a switch that detonates anything. AND you mix it up even more to where the result of hitting the switch is that anyone's platform can explode. BTW, all of you will be on separate floating platforms. If you need a more spleef element in it, cover the switches with cardboard. But I think some kind of game like that would be fun. Either that or a kind of "battleship" spleef. You take turns and you can move between your turn and shooting and you shoot a grid that cuts out a corresponding cardboard grid on your opponent's side. Better yet, there's no invulnerable parts besides the walls caging you in and holding it up so you could potentially cut out a larger section by cutting out a boarder.
You can have the ships sink as they are being blown up by making the upper levels of the ship out of materials that don't float (ex: metal, concrete). The new update should also allow for you to have 2 floating ships with less lag.
Make a spleef map that models the general layout of the Titanic with multiple decks but weld it up so the game doesn't lag. Décor is your choice, bonus points if you program it to break in half and sink after a set amount of time.

A block with adjustable Weight could probably solve the need for concrete or weight being under the water just to keep the boat from riseing too much but not in the boat so if you fall on it your still in the water

To answer your question of loading split you could either do the ship with three layers of concrete in that design like you just did or you could do it as a raft with no concrete is my honest opinion for the floating split idea of yours kan gaming but then again, I don’t have scrap mechanic on my computer so you can take the five green sauce if you like I’m not familiar with the game
I would love to see an explosive spleef on a flying platform. If you were to blow up the thrusters it would throw it off balance until it eventually falls out of the sky.
i can think of one way to do this idea right instead of relying on buoyancy physics instead you have some way to sense when a area is broken then logic so as more blocks are broken it lowers the ship(then again it sounds like pistons are kinda glitchy so prob would be a bad idea)

I definitely like the explosive spleef better than the spud gun spleef.
You could easily build a mod that deletes all loose parts after some time. You could define them as being smaller than some threashold.

Try an extended concrete keel going down and can even flatten it out at the bottom if need to add more weight

You should totally do this except that you are at a distance and you try to destroy each others ship to make them fall from it.
You needed to make the heavy blocks be indestructible blocks, instead of concrete, that way it would eventually sink.
Okay, now do this again, but each ship is on a pistion moving back and forth and you're in teams and can't leave your ships
