I had the BEST NIGHT! Eurovision 2024 ended on such a high (other than the UK televotes of course). To ALL the people I have met in Malmo this week...THANK YOU SO MUCH! There were highs and lows for sure (more highs)...but I have memories for a lifetime! Well done to NEMO and Switzerland for a well deserving victory! See you all in Switzerland for Eurovision 2024 (Eurovision 2024) (Eurovision Song Contest 2024) (ESC 2024) (Eurovision 2024 winner) (Nemo broke the code)

This has been the worst Eurovision season ever. I'm glad it's over. There has been so much toxicity. We need to respect each others opinions, regardless of which side of the political fence you sit on, without resorting to so much hate. Part of me actually doesn't want to be a euro fan any more because the fandom appears to be becoming quite a toxic environment. It's so sad.

Exactly. This year started out as one of the strongest imo and quickly became my favorite Eurovision edition but it all went downhill extremely fast and only got worse by the minute. I didn't even watch the final (which I was really looking forward to) cause I got so tired of all the drama/controversy in this season that it got ruined for me. Imagine giving everything you've got to get the chance to represent your country and to make a good performance and have it all shadowed by the controversies. Only the top 10 artists chosen by the voters in every country get the 1 to 12 points. People really don't seem to understand how easy it is to get 0 points. The UK apparently placed 14th at best in some country in the televote, so that means no televoting points, since they were not in the top 10 in any country. I only voted for my top 2 acts for example. It's not like the public ranks all the acts from best to worst.

This was my first year to ever attend Eurovision (I went to the first semi final) and luckily, my experience was brilliant, I saw a lot of countries who's songs I loved, I was my own country have hype and be rooted for by the audience and we qualified for the first time in 6 years. I thoroughly enjoyed my ecpeitnece and I had never been to Denmark or Sweden prior to that, I wouldn't mind going back for a few days at some point.
Also, in relation to attending the first semi, I felt fortunate enough that at least I didn't feel any tension that fans had in recent days because that would've been difficult to deal with.
In terms of the winner, I was delighted. For quite some time, I've had Nemo in my top 3 and I voted them 15 times (gave my other 5 go the UK,sorry it didn't materialize into any points 😭).
Thrilled with bambie's result, wasn't expecting the jury to like our song as much as they did and the televote result was brilliant too. I think you speak for a lot of us when you say, this result felt like a victory for ESC fans.

If there were mostly people with integrity in certain television positions, then the majority of European countries should boycott Eurovision. Because it's funny how much political propaganda Eurovision has turned into. It went to such extremes that the song means nothing to the Eurovision production. Rather, propaganda is constantly being pushed on personal levels, and related to who is who, how one identifies and who likes to sleep with which gender.

Hey lovely, thank you for this intimate video, I love to see your fragile you once in while 😉. And I am really happy you have been able to refind your happy place in the bubble 🥰.
About the final, I can say that I love the deserved winner, excelent performance, amazing vocals, pure perfection for Eurovision, very happy 😊!
And for the rest, I feel that I need to distance myself a bit from the ESC bubble right now. This season has been intens and I am very sad and dissapointed with the bubble, to be honest. The level of hate and toxicity I have felt and seen, and the lack of tolerance that I have witnessed too, saddens me deeply. I really thought the ESC bubble was a safe space for everyone who loves the contest, for those who want to unite by music and search this bubble in order to have some joy in this complicated world. But it hasn't been that way this season, and I am upset and disappointed about that and right now, I don't really know what to do with that. I know it might sound dramatic but to be honest I don't feel much like continuing to follow the contest anymore at the moment.
But thank YOU my dear and beloved Shane for being a sparkle midst all this mess this season ✨ 💖✨. Thank you for letting me be me, for giving me the freedom to speak my mind without having to be careful, for accepting our differences without judging, and for being your honest you. Thanks to you, I recovered some very special and unique memories of good times, were love and joy ruled in a household and childhood were that was not a regular thing ❤‍🩹. So I am forever grateful for that, and for the friends that I have made here thanks to you 🥰. For now, that is what I treasure, despite the bitter aftertaste of this year's contest, and I just hope that love will prevail 💞. I also really hope that you will be able to end this season with a good overall feeling and that you can start your new life in India with joyful memories. Big hug and safe trip home 🤗

And now to my second comment ☺️ This topic is difficult for me, but I'm writing this to bring in different ways of looking at the matter. And remember, these are just thoughts/reflections, not opinions.
According to the EBU, it is not the countries/government that compete in Eurovision, it's the broadcasters that are members of the EBU. They want Eurovision to be apolitical. With A common denominator, MUSIC, that unites.
It is terrible what is going on in the country Israel now.
What does Eurovision stand for, a music program that wishes to be outside of all politics with the sole purpose MUSIC. What happens on stage, in the arena and how the artists perform must be non-political says EBU. We check that carefully. A 20 year old singer's voice has little to do with the warfare of a brutal leader.
But is it possible to distinguish this, here the opinions differ! Eden (and her team) is seen as part of the brutal warfare directed by Netanyauh by many. She becomes the object/symbol to direct anger towards what is going on in the country. But is it right? If my government had gone to war, it is not certain that I would support it, besides it's beyond my control. The only thing she performs with is her singing voice in a singing program!
Of course, it would be extremely difficult to see the country win and with its consequences. But maybe it could be reconsidered via new negotiations and stopped If it happened.
There are some differences in the situation in Russia and Israel. Partly who started the war, as for Russia, the whole Western world condemned the invasion of Ukraine. In the issue with Israel, most probably agree to condemn what is going on there now, but it is not as clear/extensive because they were attacked first. The TV companies must also comply with news broadcasts that are independent. Russias three public service companies broke the EBU's rules and were therefore excluded from the competition. While Israel's broadcaster "KAN" has not broken the EBU's rules. The company has been involved in the competition for 50 years. I have no insight into rumor mongering as to how their team behaved there. Letting Israel participate became very political as we see, if they excluded them it would also have become political in a way. It seems impossible to stop the strong forces that condemn Israel. Who do not differentiate between Eden/Eurovision and the brutal war going on in the country. I ask myself, is it right to direct all the hate at her?
Should there be zero tolerance for belligerent countries is the question? Maybe. But opinions are obviously divided. I'm staying out of taking a position!! But I want to make a few points which follows in the next comment....😊

    • @susanneekelund2425
      @susanneekelund2425 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I just want to add that with regard to Russia, there was a broad consensus among the member states that Russia could not participate. They were banned in 2022 following demands from other competing countries, in light of the unprecedented crisis in ukraine and to not bring the competition in disrepute. So it was primarily about the country, but Also that the three TV companies did not follow the EBU's rules. This broad consensus has not happened regarding Israel (yet anyway) plus that their independent TV company has met all the requirements to be allowed to participate.

I think unfortunately for the UK the staging was possibly just a bit too complex and then also possibly a little too raunchy for a general public viewing. If you then add in the fact that Olly sadly wasn't the best live vocalist it all does make a difference when you are trying to make people get up off their sofa and vote for an entry.
The UK do need to keep the faith but they also need to remember at the end of the day you do have to send a vocalist who is capable at operating at the highest level as somebody like Sam Ryder was in 2022. I'm not trying to diss Olly because I really like him as an artist but his vocals are just not at the level that works for Eurovision.

Yeap what Journey it was. And what an amazing tour guide in your "magic bus" you were and are.
Making content for the channel I understand can be stressful. And you in your own way expose your heart and sentiments and laughs and insecurity in the most unique way.
You have introduced us to the most amazing bunch of people, your friends somehow have become our friends and Yeap we were there as if we were part of your suitcases in Milan in India in Barcelona in Malmoe. Drinking beers in the bathroom stalls, or cheering in pubs like Zorra demons.
Olly didn't deserve the 0 from the people's vote. His staging was great but there were issues vocally and in the content where there is a blurry line, if how to expose homoerotism in a "family friendly TV slot hour" .
But that is part of another discussion .
Shane. You are loved . You are appreciated. You are kind of genuine. Even your love for Poland entries is just kind of legendary to all of us who follow you from afar and probably we will never meet you in person .
Eurovision will continue its journey because there will always be artists like Iolanda or Bambie or the Malta girl or Marina or Nemo or Slimane who will hug each other and will be happy for their share of music and art no matter the result of their own.
You are lucky to have people like Georgie, or Paco, or Chris who in the time of your trouble they will come and check on you even if you ask them to leave you alone for just one hour. Because that s what friends are for : To care and check up on you .
I just want to say thank you for the journey and like Marina ' s zari song lyrics say:
"I'm gonna pretend like it wasn't a lie
Throw them again, one last time
And let them bring whatever they want after"

Bambie Thug together with other antisemitic bullies this year (Greece and the Netherlands among others) represent everything that is wrong with Eurovision nowadays. They are the ones destroying the spirit of the contest. Eden Golan has shown nothing but class and professionalism throughout the weeks of harassment and disgusting behavior from the audience, the so-called „journalists“ and the fellow contestants. It’s really ironic that the ones who preach for tolerance and inclusion the most, often turn out to be the least tolerant to opinions different from their own. Let’s see how long it takes before my comment gets deleted like the previous one.

I can see this argument in 2023 where the Loreen nostalgia had people wanting to crown her before her song was even out and the jury hoping for an Abba reunion if the anniversary of their win was in Sweden but I feel like the argument that jury rigged this year is pretty weak when Croatia got 3rd in the jury and 60 more jury points than Cha Cha Cha did. Nemo is an amazing musician, the song is very good, and the fact that they could perform it with that staging is very impressive. I do feel for Croatia coming that close to their first win and coming up short despite winning the televote, and Rim Tim Tagi Dim is an excellent song performed exceptionally, but I really can't get behind all this production rigged the jury sentiment.

Without a doubt, this Eurovision season will be unforgettable, but I think not for good reasons. In a nutshell, I am so happy because my favourite had good positions (Croatia, Ireland, Switezerland, France, Ukraine...). I would prefer Croatia winning, but omg Nemo's voice IS INSANE.
Also, I've discovered amazing artists which works I will follow (Marko and Bambie), I've enjoyed so much the dark aesthethic and performance of Bambie as I've ever wanted something like this in Eurovision. However, it was too much for me. Too much unnecesarily suffering, seeing lots of hate and agressive behaviour, sometimes really worried about contestans safety. I didn't enjoy it at all yersterday... 💔. For this reason, I've decided that this is my last Eurovision season. I can't deal with all bad feelings and hate comments and everything like this...
PS: Nontheless, I laughed a lot when I read that Nemo not only broke the code, also the trophy and their finger XD. Such a cutie XD.

I believe I split my votes 6 ways and sent most of mine to Nemo and Bambie. There were lots of extremely good entries that could have won in a different year. I really enjoy Olly, their staging was good if a little hypersexual at times, and the song was nice. I think it just settled into the no mans land of slightly forgettable and some others may have been put off by the staging. Add to that people not taking many chances with their voting because of the bloody elephant in the room. I'm in the US so I'm not sure how much my opinion holds water but I have love for Olly and the UK in general in Eurovision. Here's hoping for a better, more drama free 2025.

God dag Shane! 😀 as you say in Swedish. Omg I'm so overjoyed for Nemo's win I screamed with joy!! 🥰🏆 He deserved it so much, not only for his outstanding musical talent, but also for the enormously nice person he/she is.💖 I have followed him quite a bit and it was a unanimous opinion of SVT and the entire production team that he specifically lighted up the competition with his wonderful personality. First non-binary artist to win and he's been my winner for a long time so couldn't be happier 😃. How many 12 points from the jury!!? 😉😍
Oh Shane, I'm so sorry about the 0 points for Olly!?? 💖 I just think the concept was a little too "sexualized", borderline at times, which perhaps "put people off" a bit. But it definitely didn't deserve 0 points, because it was a creatively put together number a little outside (or inside) the box😉! But you are not alone shocked, 4 points from the people to Norway? And finished LAST?? I don't get it, I voted for them almost as much as Nemo, they were outstanding yeasterday!! Chills, a primal force. Also very surprised by Georgia's and Slovenia's low placements, Nutsa totally slayed it vocally! My boys nine👏. It silence many mouths who said they will end up bottom 5. They have had to endure so much criticism. They were very sad to only get 3 points from Norway though, huh!? Top 10, satisfied in general and yes for Germany! It was his emotional vocals that did it.
Oh, I'm so glad that Malmö live put you in a better mood again🥰, because I felt the slightly hopeless and negative vibes in your previous video. I wrote a comment, but it got left out, maybe filtered, so I might delete it and write a new one. The important thing in it is that you cannot judge Sweden for all the drama, because we absolutely love everything about Eurovision and have been working on hard challenging security work ever since Loreen won, to secure, ensure and make this event possible. To unite in music, the only language we have in common and which unites people in an otherwise troubled world. ❤️✌️
Hope you enjoyed the interval acts, Alcazar😉🔥Yeah, they brought the disco!! 💃🕺🎉

My post Eurovision feeling is a big sigh of relief. Relieved that Israel didn’t win and that the evening went well without any kaos. I’m sad that this year had a big dark cloud over it when the show is supposed to be lighthearted and fun. Only one country is to blame for that, in my humble opinion. It could have been avoided altogether, but I can now clearly see the powers that be. It saddens me that even a show like Eurovision is all about money and power. Having clout of establishment in the music industry is not what is important, especially not in the UK since nowadays all commercial pop music is heavily autotuned and engineered. What the UK needs to send, and I am sure there are loads of, are people who can actually sing live and have been singing in music halls since they were young, and have some charisma and a cool story to tell through music. That was the secret sauce of Sam Ryder, and also of Bambie Thug. Give people reason to throw some votes to the UK, most people only vote for 4 to 6 countries, so it's not enough to be everyone's 15th favorite song.

My heart sunk for Olly when they announced that 0. I never thought he had a chance to win, but I really thought top 12 for sure, especially after a decent showing with the jury. The performance level was excellent and it was such a visual feast, even if his vocals weren't 100%, and he did a lot better than the semi-final. There were some other less than stellar vocal outings last night that at least got some points, so why not the UK? I think more than anything it was the sexual nature of the performance that put people off, which is a total double-standard, but when many conservative countries and citizens are voting, it's an unfortunate reality. I really hope this result doesn't discourage Olly or make him feel less than in any way. I want him to record a killer new album and put this experience behind him. And he should know how much he paved the way for other young, queer aspiring pop singers, and I'm sure many of the competitors look up to him. Keep the faith and congrats to Nemo.

Shane, Olly was not robbed. 'King' was a brilliant track from Ollie's first album as part of Years and Years. 'Santify' a strong track from their second album.
Dizzy was not good enough. Lyrics medicore, live vocal not much better.
Artistically 'Dizzy' is a big backward step for Ollie and that was clear from the track's poor performance in the UK charts. If the British public did not particularly take to the song, why should the wider Eurovision audience..

Hi Shane - Despite the UK result , I'm glad you had a good time. The Bar I was in , in Brighton - where quite shocked when UK got Zero points from the public vote. Then people just carried on Drinking, chatting. I agree with all that you say. and I think looking at last night - I can understand why no-one with any credibility will touch it with a barge pole and to prevent speculation maybe the EBU should had said exactly what had happened with Joost, and even when Russia invaded Ukraine - there was never this much division . .We can analyse until the UK entry we are blue in the face, it won't change anything (good artist , bad song, bad artist, good song etc ) mind you one of my Greeks did point out all the Rauch was too much for most of the viewing public, and to be honest, I would have preferred less of that to give a better vocal. so, maybe the UK should have a few years off. We, personally had a great night in Brighton ( where ABBA won ! ) and met some lovely people...I had almost forgotten what it was like to go out !! ( old age perhaps ) - safe journey home

To answer the UK getting 0 in the public vote. I feel it’s for a mixture of reasons the main being ollys voice hasn’t been on par during pre party’s rehearsals ect, the staging was sadly too much and would of offended some countries, also Olly choose to get involved being political and I definitely think that damaged his chances, he definitely shouldn’t of made any comment about the Union Jack. If our Artist isn’t behind his own country we can’t expect others to support our song and artist. If we send a good singer who is there for the music without drama or making political statements we will get another good result ( 2022 Sam Ryder ) wasn’t a fluke he deserved his place. Sadly 2023 and 2024 the most part is the chosen Artists just couldn’t sing their entry’s well enough.

First of all, many thanks to you dear Shane for all the effort you personally put into the ESC.
I just think sometimes you get stuck in the ESC bubble too much.
There are many countries that have a different perspective on music.
I was shocked by a lot of things this year and I ask myself, "Is this still a song contest or a show contest?
Honestly, I just want to hear Bambie Thug or is the song only good because of the voodoo?
Personally, I always find it nice to listen to music, to like the voices.
That's why Nemo is the right winner for me. I also voted for Nemo.
As for the UK, nobody deserves 0 points, although Olly's and Kathleen's vocals were the worst, and the performance was also loveless.
Maybe you can only see that if you're not part of the ESC bubble,
As a German, I know what 0 points feels like, which the UK also likes to award to Germany.
But whoever has seen Isaak LIVE, it was clear that these are never 0 points, his voice is great and he sings with passion. Check it out.

I love the quality of the songs this year and this could be one of the best editions ever, but the energy and the vibe in general was horrible. EBU constantly being unprofessional and ignorant is just a travesty. Hello! 😊🌺 My last comment didn't go in, so may I try to clarify a few things in general (maybe there will be two) Joost situation was a police matter, nothing else. A police report was received. He has been investigated for illegal threats against a female photographer during the semi-final. The young female was very shocked by the incident and has been offered help and support. There were several witnesses to the incident as it happened right next to the stage and many said that he was very aggressive and offensive. He also allegedly caused the woman's camera to break. The Netherlands' delegation claims that there was no physical confrontation. While the legal process was ongoing, it would be inappropriate for him to continue in the competition said EBU.
The police investigation is now complete and he risks (it is expected) prosecution over the matter. A preliminary trial date has already been set. The artist must have admitted that he lunged with his fist clenched. According to him, he allegedly asked photographers to stop filming, some were intrusive. Whereupon he allegedly became angry, raised an arm with a clenched fist and lunged. But he didn't hit the photographer. Interviews have been held with all involved parties and the preliminary investigation protocol is sent to the prosecutor. It is said that EBU would not have acted as they did if they had not assessed the situation as very serious. However, it is not a more serious crime according to the investigative team in Malmö.
I understand the HUGE disappointment of all the fans. And everyone who traveled here to see him. But one can't circumvent a police report with it's process. And you can't give out information before everything is investigated, also to protect those involved in the matter.
What surprises me are all the theories and that fans immediately sided with Joost and even choosed to boycott the competition or booing at certain people in the arena? Before we know what has actually happened!?? Even our royal house and Crown Princess Victoria's Instagram account is flooded with comments from the outraged. I mean, hey, what does she have to do with this?? Talk about go ahead of youself and channeling your anger on the wrong object! 🙄 It is very regrettable for all parties, but I hope that it can settle down with time and more understanding of the situation is revealed. Best wishes to all! 🌼🌷💖
