I think we all put too much emphasis on the fact that you have to experience something to fully understand it. The older I get the more I believe that all of us struggle or had difficult times. A loss, an illness... or all of us experience the feeling of not belonging to nobody, of not being seen or accepted or loved.
Feeling empathy is a choice. You really listen and then you "wake up" that feeling to better connect with the person. But of course there are people who do not want to do that.

Definitely! Of course, Nemo wrote the song with their journey of figuring out they're non-binary in mind - thus it being so personal but I think I remember them saying that it's a message for everyone who's on a journey to find their true self. :)
