It may be hard to believe, but I have been a user of Evernote for more than a decade. My diary entry from 2010 marks the beginning of this journey. Although I've considered switching to OneNote or Notion at times, I invariably return to Evernote. My hope is that Evernote continues to value its long-term users and regains its former glory.
I don't remember, but for me its earlier than 2010. Finally they have good improvements that are quite useful. Trying to be an everything app just doesn't work. Personally speaking, Evernote, should focus on notes, and organisation of notes. And capturing input for notes. There are a couple of features that I miss from the old evernote, but overall the improvement is good, and I look forward to more AI powered stuff (especially for scanned/pictures of manual notes, digitising).
I’m an Evernote user from the very beginning. And honestly, I’m so happy with what has happened since the acquisition, and the Bending Spoons team took the reins. It gets better constantly over a regular drumbeat of new releases. And I really, really like what I hear in this interview, that the core purpose is being well considered. I’m very, very excited about the future.
I've used Evernote for years and still do on occasion to see my old notes. I switch over to Notion. I did it because Evernote constantly removed basic features while pushing their subscription. For my use, there was no need to pay for a bunch of features that I don't even use.
Very good! I'm an Evernote heavy user since 2013. The core note taking, all stuff off one subject in the same note, simple search is the core. I have all my life inside this thing an I want it paid, stable an long lyfe. As said in this podcast. Thank you.
Evernote works really well for me. I have used it for years. I haven't tried the new calendar, daily diary and reminders yet. I will let Evernote make sure those features are robust. I store numerous notes and web- captures.
I've been a paid user for over a decade, and I went through the painful transition stage when they first took over and it was almost unusable. I was going to quit, but they made improvements and now I'm quite happy with it. It's still pretty slow on my pixel 8 and PC, but listening here I'm pleasantly optimistic about their intentions. At least this guy seems genuinely passionate any the product.
More than twelve years paying Evernote. Never anymore. Lot of money for something that doesn't work. Evernote doesn't work in my tablet or phone Xiaomi. I'm looking for alternatives
What really got me steamed was all the formatting on 12+ years of software dev notes suddenly going away. That wouldn't be too bad except that the option to disable auto-formatting went away too (e.g. #, ##, and ### turning the line into a header, or "---" turning into horizontal dividers, etc). Not only that, but there's no way to specify a default font anymore either: I would probably pay 1000 bucks to just change the default to Consolas (the default for ALL notes I mean - I know you can do one note, but there's no way to set defaults, or configure multiple notes at once, etc. The ONLY way to get Consolas back on all my source code in Evernote is one.... note.... at.... a.... time. Damn, bra! IDEA: Why not just give each Notebook a customizable .css file or something? That would be DOPE AF!
@@kovaliov7 Upnote us MUCH cheaper, about 100 times faster, and imports notes from Evernote. The only thing that stops me from switching is because I have hundreds of internal links between notes, and those can't transfer to another app. For anyone who doesn't have many links between notes, I strongly recommend Upnote.
It will always be slow. The technology they transitioned to is slow. I don't believe they will ever again invest to rebuild it from zero, which would be the solution.
As a new Evernote user and someone new to note-taking, I found this interview very interesting. For me, Evernote is worth the money because it handles my notes, to-do tasks, and calendar (synched with google calendar) all in one app. The interface is nice and the organization is simple. It definetly helps to hide some of the functinalities I don't need from the side bar. Notion, on the other hand, feels too overwhelming, even with pre-made templates that just do not work as well.
I’ve been using Evernote for 15 years and I’m so glad that they are finally making it better. I love the web clipping, cross platform apps, and flexibility. The new Home page and Calendar functionality is great!!!
Same. After more than a decade of paying for Evernote, that last price increase was just insulting. I’m now using both Apple Notes and Bear, pondering just going full Apple Notes. Anyone know a good way to export my remaining notes from Evernote *without* losing attachments?
Damn you, I had reduced all my use of Evernote down to web-clipper. I switched to Apple Notes. Which is...fine. Just okay. This VC episode made me take a peek back at EN which turned into a 2 hour rabbit-hole. Damn you, damn you damn you...
The core functionality of Evernote has changed. Instead of being the absolute best pure note taking app it’s trying to be a Notion knockoff-but worse. The way it handles text is terrible. The visual design is a giant step backwards with regard to basic layout. Bullet points don’t scale with text size! The one thing it does better than its competitors is tables. If you really want to make Evernote better, allow users to turn off some of the help “features.”

I completely agree. The Evernote legacy editor was the best of all versions. I use font size 18 for all my notes. Why can't I set this as the default?
I use both, and I think Evernote is redirecting towards its roots, and is better for note taking & random, unstructured content capture than Notion. Give Evernote some more space in your consideration.
Evernote last year made it impossible to export all your notes and then dramatically raised their rates. Effectively holding your notes hostage. This is very anti-user. No guarantee they won't continue to raise their prices. Don't trust your notes with this service.
They support two export formats. Single Web Page, or .ENEX which is an XML format specifically stated for moving notes to other applications. Also they have control over what attributes are included. OP, you really don't know anything about Evernote, do you?
Yes I agree, a terrible practice, hold the users notes hostage is a great description, what else could it be? You tell me Evernote for the 50 note export limit
@@RicBretyou cannot export your notes at once, only notebook by notebook which is terrible For backing up obviously I am absolutely agree with the topic starter
I'm not even going to watch 57 minutes, I'm definitely replacing Evernote. I am using it for EVERTYTHING and depend on it, but it is so slow it eats hours of my life. The price is outrageous. I am ditching it and it will be a painful process, but I look at it as overcoming an addiction.
I second that. Still a paying user but look at it as overcoming an addiction. Every note I touch I move to Apple Notes. So using Apple Notes more and more overtime. And less and less of Evernote. 2 reasons: 1) crazy price while there are free and lower price alternatives 2) slow and glitchy af, requires like m2 iPad and latest iPhone to work with bearable speed… and it’s NOTE TAKING APP, not a flight simulator!
@@rareYTuser in the last 2 weeks or so they introduced 3-4 new bugs to the Mac version that drive me crazy, like the unstable in-note search. I am not ready to put up with their quality any longer. I am using my notes for work, all day. Testing UpNote, it seems a good alternative.
>>"The price is outrageous" At 46:06 he says "Evernote's retention has never been higher than it it today". So I guess that means in the end, most users accepted the price. Some left, like you, but all-in-all it was a win for them.
@@vladarino Of course, after they banished all free users, what is left are the seriously dependent ones! I'm still using it, I have paid until December. Currently switching to UpNote. It is WAY faster, like 10 times faster, WAY less bugs. A lot of features. But the switch to another software, especially when you have thousands of notes, and you use it professionally, is not an easy task. Hence the retention. But I will do it, and NOT BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. I am paying a lot more than that for other licenses, like Adobe. But they are reliable companies that are IMPROVING their software, not returning old bugs, already fixed last month, while introducing new ones AND increasing the price.
" am using it for EVERTYTHING and depend on it" ... And yet $11.75 per month is "outrageous"? Sounds a like a deal to me. Your point about performance, though, is For. Real. I don' think the price is crazy at all, but for that price it needs to perform better.
I really like Evernote. I was a free user for many years. Started paying this year and I haven’t regretted it. The product is much better than before in terms of design and stability.
It is sort of stupid that they decided to increase the price just because it was 7 years since the last price increase. Increase it, but do it slowly. How can anyone digest a 3x price? Also, when you mention new features, who the heck asked you for them? We were happy as it is. You are charging us for features we don't need and may never use. Scannable for iOS has become a pain now (wow, higher prices and lesser features).
Paying individual note taker here, I really hope everyone continues to think of it as their north star. It's a huge huge value add, wouldn't be able to organize my life without it! You have a monetized captive user base, continue to invest to make your product usable and secure and modern, and you'll make $$$
I held out as long as I could and used Evernote thru 2022. After becoming incredibly bloated and overpriced, I switched to upnote in 2023 and never looked back. The final straw was the absurdity of the pricing. I can’t see myself going back unless it’s affordable and has a stable future.
The same here. I held out as long as I could, too. The thought of having to migrate thousands of notes kept me using Evernote, but it got to the point (bloated, pricing) where I couldn't ignore it anymore. I also switched to UpNote, and just recently added Notion as well. Switching costs for these types of apps are high, and you have to really screw it up to have users actually switch.
It’s hard not to laugh at Evernote’s policy of "I’ll talk, you listen," where they post hour-long conversations in full, despite the fact that users aren’t really interested. There are shorts that can capture the key points, after all. I’ve been using Evernote for over ten years because I couldn’t migrate countless notes, but I’m ready to leave without any regrets. The slow startup often makes me forget what I was supposed to write, and the issue of letters lagging or disappearing when typing in non-English languages has been unresolved for the past decade.
I was paying for Evernote for several years mostly because of multi device sync. Once I had to change the payment method and it appeared impossible without going to new (few times more expensive) plan. I did not need or want any new features so I migrated couple of thousands note somewhere else.
I really like Evernote. It does all the job for me, and the new features are excellent, like audio and image transcriptions, which have helped notate videos, for instance. Federico really listens to his customers, as most of my requests in a welcome email were attended to. What he says in this interview certainly makes me more confident to keep Evernote for years ahead. There is, of course, room for improvement, but I get the sense Evernote is in the right direction. Now, it really baffles me how many people appear on videos about Evernote to comment they're happy elsewhere. But why do they bother to listen to a full interview about Evernote if they don´t care?
I would love to understand how many users are interested in handwriting notes and OCR. Loved Penultimate functionality. Now most of my notes, which are handwritten, are in Goodnotes 6 which is awesome.
Moved to NotePlan after YEARS with Evernote. Still listening here and not hearing anything really that makes we want to go back. CEO is still fluffing around with big words and no real simple differentiators.
I've used Evernote since 2011. I don't need some of the new tools, task management, calendar etc. I have other tools for that. I just want to store my notes as a digital filing cabinet. Scannable for EN was great, but now charges. I can't remember exactly what was the functionality that was dropped that made it more difficult to use, but hopefully it'll be getting back to the core of the original product, maybe with the facility to hide all the bits we don't need.
Absolutely invaluable program. It manages every aspect of my private and business life. The uses of the program are endless and bounded only by the imagination. I use it a storage of every document in my business and personal life; as a web clipper; a research tool; a calendar; a tasks manager etc. As someone who used to be extremely disorganized, EN has enabled me to become a model of efficiency and organization. I now perform party tricks by instantly retrieving requested esoteric pieces of information that would take others hours to find. Proper use of EN requires carefully setting up the program to do what you need it to do and then meticulous attention to how you enter and retrieve the information. However, if you give it the time that it deserves it will yield an extraordinary return on that investment. I couldn't imagine life without it and therefore any talk about $50 or $120 is absolutely irrelevant.
The latest jaw-dropping change of connecting "up to" 1 device for the free tier was the last straw for me. After being a user for more than 10 years, I'm moving all my remaining notes to other places and probably won't look back. IMO the current pricing model is very questionable. A note-taking service that doesn't offer a minimum sync between devices is absurd in current market. Moreover the lowest pay tier is CA$13.33/month, which is comparable to premium subscriptions such as Netflix, TH-cam and Apple TV+. Hopefully you are still retaining enough heavy users who find the monthly fee worthwhile, because it just seems to me that Evernote is trying to fail faster.
Now Evernote is taking hell of time to type and edit notes. Earlier, it was available in synchronised way on smartphone and laptop as well. However, now its availability for a user is limited to only one gadget despite paying a premium annual fee. These issues need to be addressed if Evernote wants to retain its customers in users.
I have been an Evernote user since 2011. I wish they would allow your personal and business account windows to be open at the same time. It does help with my ADD I admit
I started using Evernote over a decade ago. At that time the price was about €40. Now, they wanted to charge >3 times as much. Ridiculous price increases without too much added functionality. The free version became too limited over time, so no alternative. I switched to Bear some weeks ago and didn't regret it one single second. Evernote seems to have forgotten the old supporters and fans.
Thank you for your hard work. I am a user who loves Evernote. I have been using Evernote for a long time, and it is increasingly becoming a provider-oriented rather than a user-oriented Evernote. Changing the configuration and evolving is not desirable if it causes a lot of inconvenience to existing users. I use an Android phone and the notification function doesn't sort the most recent notifications in descending order. I requested this, but it hasn't been fixed for a long time. We hope to become a user-centered Evernote.
why it takes so long to "unfreeze" after i open evernote, click all notes, and then want to open latest note.. i need to wait about 3-5 sec before it allow me to click, and open note. I have android Samsung s23 ultra, phone performance is not issue, i have 4000 notes.. but i usualy work with last 1-3 latest notes and dont need to load all the 4000 notes ...
Absolutely do not want Evernote to do calendars and project management, never use that stuff as I have MUCH better products to do that. - Make it the best note taking and archive retrieval system,
Evernote is my go-to app for maintaining various types of notes. I like the features; although there are some that I do not use, the choice is available. I don't mind paying for an app I enjoy using if the price remains reasonable. Maintaining a robust note system for many novice and experienced customers should have several subscription plans as you do. After all, how would the developers and programmers get paid for their extensive work in providing a multiple-featured notekeeping system? I have been using my account since 2014 and like it the best compared to others that I have tried. Thanks for the video. Keep up the excellent service.
Evernote broke my heart. Was my everything. Then it bugged and bugged and I lost notes and it failed me again and again. Had to switch to Notion. But here's to 10 years on Evernote.
Beginning a productivity podcast with "sorry we're late" is hilarious, thumbs up. Naming one's company "Bending Spoons" after a famous con-man is ... an interesting choice ...
"we think mostly about existing customers" ..... Not enough unfortunately. I cannot trust this company. The latest violation*: Tags are MY DATA - I have shared notebooks with PAID users and just recently Evernote has removed MY TAGS (which constitute an element of my notes), years in the creation, from my notes in the other users accounts. How can this be OK? It is no different than deleting some of my note content that I share with other users. *I hope this is an accidental bug and not a deliberate sabotage to force users to TEAMS?
sure this might have been addressed but how do you share a note with someone that doesn't have a login. used to be able to send a web link and would just take them to a web page? At some point this changed. This has been a big obstacle for me and i work with many different groups both internal and external. Also wish the camera would zoom in and out like the phone camera
I have used Evernote for years. When the price went up, and the free version wasn’t an option, I started looking for alternatives, and decided I would no longer use it, as it was too expensive. Then, a better price was offered and I took it. I like using it, but now that I am paying, I would like the calendar to work better and I cannot use my Apple calendar, hopefully that will change! I don’t like the feeling of being held “captive“ and if prices go up again abusively, I will definitely leave. Subscription fatigue (mentioned here) is a problem! They add up and we can’t pay for everything! I am 61, we used to pay for the newspaper/ magazine that we bought and read, T.V. was free, we bought records or CD’s, now we have all the content in the world for a subscription to everything, and it’s becoming too expensive, and we can’t possibly consume it all. I love technology and the positives it brings, I just hope the negatives (too many) don’t outweigh the positives.

Evernote is my main work horse for knowledge and project management for years now, and I have a paid subscription because I believe it's worth it. Also, I am very happy where bending spoons is taking this, even though there are definitely hick-ups as they are reworking it. The important thing for me is that Evernote stays alive, reliable, save, capable and cross-platform long-term. I like that they listen to the users and their experience for what is needed and not. For me the focus should stay on note-taking and material gathering primarily and task-management secondarily. The batteries included approach where you can just dump stuff into it and (re-)arrange it easily, is and always has been the killer-feature for me as well as the cross-platform availability. Current issues are the wasteful home screen design and the performance (although it's getting better). For the AI features, I do not really care. Also, it's a security concern, because it uses 3rd party. Classical Search should be more instantaneous and more powerful. It should be the second important feature after creating a note.
I love Evernote and have been a user for about 14 years, but I'm actively looking for a replacement. I only need about 3 core functions and those functions don't justify the inflated expense that the Evernote subscriptions have grown to. I just need basic text, search, tagging, and line by line encryption, 2 devices, attachments, especially pdf is very useful (doesn't need to have pdf OCR search), but not absolutely critical. If Bending Spoons can make a ultra-basic subscription that is priced reasonable for these basic functions then I"ll become a paid Evernote user. Otherwise, my time with Evernote was grand, but is drawing to a close.
Being using Evernote pretty much since it launched. Used to use it to save emailed invoices etc from outlook. I remain frustrated that they dropped that unless using an exchange account! Looked for alternatives but feel locked in given the long history of use.
You can add accordions (drop down lists you can then truncate) in Evernote by first creating them using H1-Hxxx Headings in Word - and then copying the contents directly from Word into Evernote. This is a work around that has its own issues but has been helpful for me.
Hello Evernote, since the removal of your presentation feature, I’ve found myself using the app less frequently. This feature was incredibly important for users like me. Could you please share the reasoning behind this decision? Also, are there any plans to bring the presentation feature back? Thank you!
I used Evernote since 2012 and it was the best and my only note taking app. Fast forward to yesterday was the day I had to part ways with Evernote. It has become a slow, too pricey, and limiting the synced devices. Thank God exporting notes and importing to other app was a breeze. Bye Evernote
What made it easy to export your notes? So many others are saying it was difficult. I’m a senior and while not great with exporting tasks, I’m not sure I can do it myself. Any suggestions to make it easier? Thanks
I would love to see a tiered pricing structure so that instead of forcing everyone to pay more for the frills just let the people that want them pay for them. You would find out exactly how important the basic functionality is and how unnecessary all the recent "enhancements" are.
So sad to see people habe the same issue like me. I‘ve been using evernote for many many years now but these bugs are driving me nuts(to be specific: the foldable list was a feature I‘ve been waiting for for a very long time, unfortunately it‘s so bad that I sometimes waste 10-15 minutes straight on just getting it ordered properly, when with notion the very same thing would take me 1 minute). Also long notes start being very laggy, so some notes I have to split in two or three notes to be able to take notes when learning etc.
I have been using Evernote since 2012, daily using at my work, and personel life, it was true that Evernote was bloating and recently started to improve, however still issues with customer service since the questions are not answered and some bugs are still there and waiting to be updated somewhere in future by chance.
I hope that they fix the broken search functionality. It used to be that you would enter your search term and it would automatically be highlighted in the resulting notes. Now that is not the case. If you get multiple notes resulting from the search, then you have to enter the same search term individually, in the "Find within note" for each note. That destroys the entire reason I use Evernote. Such a let down. This is really bad. SMH
Evernote is in downonly mode. UI is terrible, it's slow and clunky, and as of a couple of years ago, extremely overpriced. I'm currently in the process of migrating everything to Notion and Obsidian. Not a trivial undertaking (~15k notes) but there's no other option at this point.
After 12 years paid, this force to new V4 version is HORRIBLE... I hate to, but I'm going to have to jump ship b4 i have a heart attack... SERIOUSLY... they lost a banking journal attached i needed, just this week, after same issues over a year now... Random & SCARY! NEVER had such issues with previous versions. I need to go in a hunt for better s/w. YUK
I’ve got some old notes in Evernote and they use some of the most annoying deceptive UX to try and get me to pay whenever I log in. Definitely not using them going forward.
I also have used Evernote for years..I call it "My Brain"😅 thank you this was very informative and I am retired and getting less savvy every day 😂 not being in work force...BUT I USE MY EVERNOTE app Every day..lots ‼️
Evernote has always been dropping off, and doing what they want. It’s literally missing what it’s customers want and need, sadly it’s the same like The Verge. Do a video on Evernote alternatives, top Ten note storage apps, maybe go back to be the old verge or upload a podcast that wasn’t helpful.
I was looking to migrate to Apple notes when Bending Spoons acquired it. Immediately updates occurred to fix irritating bugs. Yes a bit pricey but so is everything else!!!
I miss the old features such as : sync button, locking sorted each notebook differently. Other than that, the old version is simple, light, and user friendly in any device. I don't understand why suddenly so many changes happen. Why don't you make another app instead? But I appreciate new feature that show us if one notes is opened by multi user, it avoids conflict notes. I hope you could learn that sometimes light, easy, and friendly app is preferable than the complex one. And yes, the price is quite high.
Make another, useful, video in 2 years if Bending Spoons ever does manage to salvage Evernote. Right now it is stagnant, if not petrified. It may never actually be recovered & modernized.
What is this quick switcher feature? I tried the various keyboard shortcuts described and didn't see anything. CTRL-J just indented about a half page. Ctrl K inserted link.
It still get's worse and worse and worse with every release. Been a user since 2009. As of today I have to use it daily and hate that part of my life. I have finally found Standard Note which I am slowly moving towards and exporting all my notes there. Unfortunately with a couple thousand notes, this is daunting. I will be celebrating the day I no longer have to use it. I use to consult and coach execs and would always recommend this tool. Now I tell everyone to run away and do not look back!
Outrageous price increases (more than microsoft office!). Arrogant customer response when you can get some. Bloated software. I will also be ditching this in the next few months before my subscription expire. I wish Evernote good luck in their future bankruptcy
I miss the days when Evernote was a great personal note app. The interface now requires so many extra clicks - compared to the good ol’ days. Efficiency: down.
i have used it since 2008 with almost 20K notes... i hope they make it faster, incorporate AI properly, and allow integrations with business tools like workspace and 365
Yep. I have notes from 2012. It's become kind of a life-history-journal at this point. 😂 I pay for premium and honestly don't mind. For the all in one style "second brain" type of set up, it's beyond worth it for me. Multiple businesses and multiple kids...I can at least remotely function at this point thanks to EN.

I used Evernote for years, but at some point, they decided to charge us more and on a monthly basis! So, I switched to Apple Notes without any regret!
Same here after 13 years ✌️
Same. After more than a decade of paying for Evernote, that last price increase was just insulting. I’m now using both Apple Notes and Bear, pondering just going full Apple Notes. Anyone know a good way to export my remaining notes from Evernote *without* losing attachments?
I don't pay and have to close buy notifications everytime I sign in and cannot create new notes. Its a struggle
Me too! I went right back to Notes
Me too
Damn you, I had reduced all my use of Evernote down to web-clipper. I switched to Apple Notes. Which is...fine. Just okay. This VC episode made me take a peek back at EN which turned into a 2 hour rabbit-hole. Damn you, damn you damn you...
Great info - been using the app for 15 years... love it! Thanks
Why can't I set this as the default?
v6 was almost perfection. I hated that they changed it at all. If they had just left it as it was, I would not have minded...
100%
Exclentt! And better yet, you can bring back those American jobs you stole.
I use both, and I think Evernote is redirecting towards its roots, and is better for note taking & random, unstructured content capture than Notion. Give Evernote some more space in your consideration.
Please make notes open at the end were I left off and not the beginning
I didn't expect The Verge to talk about Evernote for an hour.
Sounds like a paid endorsement.
Evernote last year made it impossible to export all your notes and then dramatically raised their rates. Effectively holding your notes hostage. This is very anti-user. No guarantee they won't continue to raise their prices. Don't trust your notes with this service.
i think you can still export all your notes (notebook by notebook or all notebooks at once i think)
They support two export formats. Single Web Page, or .ENEX which is an XML format specifically stated for moving notes to other applications. Also they have control over what attributes are included.
OP, you really don't know anything about Evernote, do you?
Would you please clarify in what way they made it impossible to export all notes and how it has been different before? Thanks.
Yes I agree, a terrible practice, hold the users notes hostage is a great description, what else could it be? You tell me Evernote for the 50 note export limit
@@RicBretyou cannot export your notes at once, only notebook by notebook which is terrible
For backing up obviously
I am absolutely agree with the topic starter
I'm not even going to watch 57 minutes, I'm definitely replacing Evernote. I am using it for EVERTYTHING and depend on it, but it is so slow it eats hours of my life. The price is outrageous. I am ditching it and it will be a painful process, but I look at it as overcoming an addiction.
I second that. Still a paying user but look at it as overcoming an addiction. Every note I touch I move to Apple Notes. So using Apple Notes more and more overtime. And less and less of Evernote. 2 reasons:
1) crazy price while there are free and lower price alternatives
2) slow and glitchy af, requires like m2 iPad and latest iPhone to work with bearable speed… and it’s NOTE TAKING APP, not a flight simulator!
>>"The price is outrageous"
At 46:06 he says "Evernote's retention has never been higher than it it today".
" am using it for EVERTYTHING and depend on it"
...
And yet $11.75 per month is "outrageous"? Sounds a like a deal to me.
Your point about performance, though, is For. Real. I don' think the price is crazy at all, but for that price it needs to perform better.
I was an early adopter of Evernote, and almost gave up on it. Glad that Bending Spoons has made it so much better.
I really like Evernote. I was a free user for many years. Started paying this year and I haven’t regretted it. The product is much better than before in terms of design and stability.
It is much slower on desktop and phone
@@pompom6675 I have found it to be faster, not slower.
Scannable for iOS has become a pain now (wow, higher prices and lesser features).
where is written 3X the price ? actual Personal 100€/year,
@@BernhardGramberg so what was the actual increase?
The only thing I need to hear about Evernote is how best to migrate and where to.
Notion
Evernote has always been the OG for me. It was my Notes App.
I was paying for Evernote for several years mostly because of multi device sync. Once I had to change the payment method and it appeared impossible without going to new (few times more expensive) plan. I did not need or want any new features so I migrated couple of thousands note somewhere else.
Where did you migrate to, and how do you like it in comparison to EN?
wohin migriert
For me, from now on, the focus should be on integrating AI features. Thanks for working hard on this product and not letting it collapse!
Glad to see you back! reuse after 10 years!
Evernote was life. Then, suddenly, I hated it. Good to know it's getting a new life.
9:06 all you've done is piss existing customers and try to squeeze them.
Handwriting OCR is the main reason I use EN
Moved to NotePlan after YEARS with Evernote. Still listening here and not hearing anything really that makes we want to go back. CEO is still fluffing around with big words and no real simple differentiators.
I love that Bending Spoons implemented AI search and made it non-obvious and opt-in rather than forcing me to use it by default.
Hopefully you are still retaining enough heavy users who find the monthly fee worthwhile, because it just seems to me that Evernote is trying to fail faster.
where did you moved to ?
@@BernhardGramberg mainly to Notion, and GitHub repos for more static notes
2 device to 1 device in free plan of evernote. Great decision
they used to allow 3 devices in free plan, then the greed took over them
Now you can only use 1 device at a time. Time to export all my notes. Anyone has alternatives?
Notion, OneNote
Why not open up an API? Let developers connect to Evernote, I think it could explode, especially if EN get a % comm from apps.
Yes, Uri Geller. Good catch.
Although, maybe they were referring to The Matrix instead.
Wonder which app had the greater fall-off, Evernote or Dropbox
Evernote, very obviously. Dropbox is chugging along fine: 2.5B revenue and ~15% profit.

What app do you use now?

Which alternative did you go to?
I would love to see a tiered pricing structure so that instead of forcing everyone to pay more for the frills just let the people that want them pay for them. You would find out exactly how important the basic functionality is and how unnecessary all the recent "enhancements" are.
Last I checked Evernote has waaaaaay too much debt to NOT try and save the company with a billion haphazard and half baked gimmicks.
I have been using Evernote since 2012, daily using at my work, and personel life, it was true that Evernote was bloating and recently started to improve, however still issues with customer service since the questions are not answered and some bugs are still there and waiting to be updated somewhere in future by chance.
any comment mention about notion?
its a pkm level talk at least
7:30 if after Two-decades you are still asking about what EN is for? Then the plot is already lost.

Right now it is stagnant, if not petrified.
It may never actually be recovered & modernized.

It still get's worse and worse and worse with every release. Been a user since 2009. As of today I have to use it daily and hate that part of my life. I have finally found Standard Note which I am slowly moving towards and exporting all my notes there. Unfortunately with a couple thousand notes, this is daunting. Outrageous price increases (more than microsoft office!). Arrogant customer response when you can get some. Bloated software. I will also be ditching this in the next few months before my subscription expire. I wish Evernote good luck in their future bankruptcy

The interface now requires so many extra clicks - compared to the good ol’ days. Efficiency: down.
i have used it since 2008 with almost 20K notes... i hope they make it faster, incorporate AI properly, and allow integrations with business tools like workspace and 365
Please add support for Right to Left languages (RTL).
Interesting - team functions, calendar and tasks integrations are exactly what I do NOT need. I wonder whom they asked.
Evernote got really stupid in the mid 2010s. I moved to OneNote and never looked back.
Way too greedy. Endless paywalls, 1 device on free account. Switched to Google Drive.
