Replacing a set of brake discs, means also a new set of brakepads!
And placing new pads means that the electronic handbrake has to be set in “service” mode by computer.
It is possible to do this by hand, taking of the electromotor and turning back the push-pen manually, so the piston can also be pushed back into the calliper. After installing the pads and calliper, please turn the push-pen in again, to prevent the electric handbrake to have a malfunction as it’s used for the first time and the electromotor has to turn this pen for a long time until reaching its position to function correctly

@@autodocukyou should add this to the video, taking off the caliper electrical plug and putting 12V to the caliper to wind in

Thank you auto doc, great video. Had a go myself and saved myself over £400! One thing to add though is if the piston needs to be pushed in. Both mine did and I found an easy way by taking the gearing mount off the electric hand brake and winding the spindle clockwise with an alan key until it stops. I then used a g clamp to push the piston in...it worked a treat. But I wouldn't have had a go if it wasn't for this video, so many thanks!

A lot more to it than this shows. Either remove motor and wind in manually or connect 12v to motor and wind it back that way.

This car has an automatic parking brake (same as my Megane 3). In order to install new brake pads, you'll have to push back the brake piston. Unfortunately, this cannot be done with a standard hand tool as long as the motor is in place. Either connect 12V to the motor to have it turn back, or remove the motor and rotate it back manually. Without doing this, you cannot place new brake pads (it looks like this video re-uses the old ones??) as they are thicker. You cannot get the caliper back on.

      Thank you for your comment.
To do this, there is a special squeeze for the brake caliper piston, and if there is an electric hand brake, it is necessary to turn the car to the service mode.

I have now made this video which can be used in combination with your video to change the pads. It doesn't include your part of the process which is similar for any car, I only include how to retract the EPB

Warning For everyone watching this video, there is a very crucial step being left out of this video, and that is how to wind in the electric parking brake to be able to push the caliper in. Without this step you can not put new brake pads on. They don't even mention this in the video for changing the brake pads. Now they may not be able to show you for legal purposes but they can at least mention it to the viewers. You will need a computer program to wind them back,or and this is why it may not be legal for them to tell you,but you can wind them back with cables and a 12v battery which may or may not damage your e-brake.
